Just saw Bruce last night in Princeton. The Bruce and Sonny tour seems interesting. Certainly a departure from both Skaggs/Hornsby AND the new Noisemakers.

Bruce plays pretty close to his new album which seems very much the focus of Bruce stylistically currently. You can tell he’s taking two handed independence to the next level and taking you on for a ride.

Bruce even said he’s happier playing what he considers more “fun” songs then what he was playing when he was “popular”. Songs like King of the Hill and Life in the Psychotropics Might As Well Be Me etc. He did throw in some of his hits to please the yuppies. It’s always funny to see people get very excited with the opening bars of “The Way it Is” and then laugh when Bruce takes it into another direction.

I do miss the Noisemakers….As I’ve said in the past…this is the Bruce I loved the most.

These concerts seem…more…..academic/instructional…. showcasing his chops as a very talented piano player.

Exactly what I termed the Solo Concerts release – an education.
