ParticipantThe tires are rotated, in fact, had to get new tires for this one, the oil is changed, and…..It’s “Southland” time once again! Yea!!!
Bruuuce is comin’ “Southbound”!!! That is south of the Mason-Dixon line for those in the know! To “God’s country”! 😆
Popping up! Popping down! Those damn critters will win every time! Never can get a good shot at them! And…..No “chirpping mosquitoes” this time of year! 😆 Time to get excited! 😆
Jackie has already posted about the Durham show! Anyone comin’ to Greenville? Then to Molo’s territory!
Who’s in on this???
You don’t want to miss it! You really don’t!
Still havin’ a ball!

ParticipantI’m not a road scholar in deed, but I am one in spirit.
And I have a question for the actual road scholars: Who’s going to make it to Durham,NC Tuesday night? David? MVF? careyon, lesleythor,Zann, et al?
I know it’s a weeknight, but I have faith that you all have the fortitude to make the journey… 😆
As you can tell,I’m “fired up!”. Hope to see you all there

ParticipantHey Jackie!
I will be there, but probably not in time for a meet-up. Goin’ to work half a day and then put on the Road Scholar face! 😆
Oh, how good that face will feel once again!Even tho it’s a “school night”, will be there come “hell or high water”! 😆 Got the “radar detector” all tuned up and I’m “tuned up” too! 😆 Just straight up I-85, but gosta span the 3 great states of GA, SC and NC! Don’t even need mapquest for this one! 😆
At the end of the day, when the sun is setting and the cows are comin’ home…….There’s no place that I would rather be!
Get fired up!
Still havin’ a ball!

ParticipantDavid,
This “work” thing does get in the way of having fun, doesn’t it? 😆
I’m getting up at my usual 3 AM,catching the bus, working ’till 1 PM,then the fun begins! (Hope I don’t go to sleep during the concert-what am I saying?-not a chance!
)
Have a safe trip! See you at the theatre!

ParticipantAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! 😮 😮 😯 😯
Due to reasons WAY beyond my control, I can’t make the Durham show. Send a PM or email if you want the really gory details.
MMMMMMMMM…….actually, I think there is a clause in Bruce’s contract that states he CANNOT touch a piano in the state of NC without my presence. So don’t be surprised if the concert is cancelled. IF, somehow, some way, he actually DOES play tomorrow night, somebody, request “The Road Not Taken” in my honor, and send me a set list!

Still grooving’ (not much movin, though), here in Podunk, NC 😆February 14, 2012 at 1:36 am #33159David Day
ParticipantBut MVF!!! You will miss the pleasure of my company! 😆
It’s goin’ to snow tonight, but won’t get lost in the snow! 😆
Come snow, “hell or high water”, this Road Scholar will be there! Might have to take a “detour” further thru the great state of SC, thru the “coastal route” and then come in the “back door” of NC, but……A true Road Scholar is always prepared for any obsticles that may happen along the way! 😆
I guess the moral of the story is……There is never a Road Not Takin’ for a true Road Scholar!
That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! 😆
Still havin’ a ball!

ParticipantThere’s soo very much to say! And much more to come, but…..I’ve never heard Bruce do Big Rock Candy Mountain > Candy Mountain Run in solo!
I can’t believe he finally took this request solo! And….What a great rendition it was!
I’ve met soo many nice people along the way…..I’ve met Charlie, Woody & You, the King of the Hill, and so many others so far!
I’m home tonight, tired, but a good tired, but…..That Road Scholar face sure feels good!
Can’t wait for that sunrise in the morning and back on the road again! With the sunrise comes a sunset! At the end of the day when the sun is settin’ and the cows are comin’ home……There is no place I would rather be!
Still havin’ a ball!

ParticipantGlad you got home with yer spokes intact. I saw the Greenville SC show the next night. 13th Fugue>Sticks & Stones,20/20 Vision>Night on the Town,Big Rock>Candy Mtn Run,End of the Innocence, Valley Road, Who Takes Care of Mom,Wheres my Bat,Low Country,What the Hell Happened, The Way It Is, King OF THE HILL sorry for previous error (he couldn’t get over”hands in the pants at the skin flick” without extra repetition), Mandolin Rain (minor key)…encore Talk of the Town, Standing on the Moon>(tease)Lady w/a Fan ** He sang “…things we’ve never seen seem familiar”(so I stick by Terrapin/LWF, don’t remember Wharf Rat as listed on the Set List) >Halcyon Days. As usual I’m not sure of the order (and I left out a couple shorties per the official set list) and Bruce mentioned that SCK BSTD will run in Philly as “STRNGR” although we voted for the original title. I saw about 7-9 folks show up for the VIP experience but didn’t ask for a review. Extra bonus for me was the Grateful Dead Hour on WNCW (Looks Like Rain, I Know You Rider, Cassidy) on the ride home. This was the oldest crowd I’ve seen for Bruce.

ParticipantSooooooo,
Where is my set list from Tuesday night? Did ANYONE think to make my request for me? Did anyone see Branford Marsalis in the house? And more importantly, can anyone corroborate a sighting of Dreadlock Dave at this event?
Still grumpy and grooovin’ in Mayberry,
Miss Virginia FormerBTW,
Is there dancing onstage at a solo show 😆February 18, 2012 at 8:39 pm #33163treah

The set list will arrive in the next day or two. I didn’t fully recover from my journey to Durham until the middle of the day on Thursday . 😯
Bruce did play Road Not Taken. Branford was tentatively scheduled to be there, but ended up being in another city,no DD sighting from me. He is like the wind, you can feel his presence, but he is rarely seen.
More to come…

ParticipantHey MVF! You should know by now that I will always stand up for myself! Now don’t you? 😆
And…..Even though I’m a “beat puppy”…..Seems like I’m the one that is movin’! 😆
Jackie is right! Durham had to be a blow in and blow out like the wind! Barely made the show, but….More to come on that!
Nashville! Did get Lost in the Snow with Ricky!
More to come on that too, but Ricky was there and it did snow that night! I did have to take a Road Not Takin’ to get home, but…..It was all well worth it!
Did not make it to IN for the Friday show. Like I said before, was goin’ to keep it south of the Mason-Dixon line. Needed to deliver a couple of vintage guitars to Nashville that I’ve had in my collection for a while, but that was well worth it! One of them was a very nice 1918 “The Gibson” that I had inherited from my granddad!
One story I will share for the night……I pulled into downtown Greenville and less then one block from my hotel was Carolina Brewing Company! Get the picture! Walked in, stranger in town and the friendly people wanted to know why I was there. They had no idea, for some reason, that Bruce was there that night. Before it was over, three of them walked down with me and got tics and wanted to see the show! It was really cool!
Turned out to be Three Nights on the Town! Durham, Greenville and Nashville!
Still havin’ a ball!
