ParticipantHi David…reading the Leon thread with interest, having been a big fan back in the day and loving when Bruce busts him out.
Please, please, please tell the Leon story. Is that enough begging?

Is that enough begging?I just don’t know. 😆 At least Treah (Jackie) would have said, “Please, please with sugar on top.” 😆 Even that earned her some “extra credit” on another post, but just not enough to qualify for actual “begging”. Therefore, I’m struggling to see where three “pleases” can qualify also. 😆
I need some more begging! 😆 😆

As a trivia question, who was the band that did “Going Down” back in the 70’s?
I still need some more begging for my Leon story! 😆
I also have a story about the band that is the answer to the trivia question!

What does Candy Mountain Run and Camp Meeting have in common??Come on guys (aka common mon)! This should be an easy one for you. Even Rich or Vic can get the answer to this one! 😆
I will give you a hint……Take a step back and look at the big picture! 😆 Don’t make it more complicated than it is! 😆

How embarassing! 😳 With all the getting on one knee, typing & begging I forgot from which state you hail-how gauche!
I love peaches! My family had a miniscule peach orchard and one season,we even picked & sold part of our “bumper crop.” I make a mean peach cobbler & love home made peach ice cream on a hot summer’s day…
Let’s try this again. (Resuming the begging posture): Please tell us your Leon story,David. Pretty please with sugar, whipped cream and fresh, ripe Georgia peaches on top?

Jackie, it just doesn’t get any better than peach cobbler!
Especially with ice cream melting on top!
Does it?Next meet-up in your area, you will have to bring some!
I’ll tell you what I’ll do. My very next post will be my Leon story.
I think you and Amy will enjoy it!
I’ll try to get back tomorrow night.
In the mean time, have you had your “daily dose” of “Stacked Mary Possum” today? 😆

JackieLong time ago, way back when…..
I was an officer in the organization that was responsible for student programming at the University of Georgia. Since I was responsible for making sure the bands got paid and contract compliance, I was always able to get backstage passes for all the concerts.
We had the likes of Elton John (Sir Elton?), Billy Joel, Greg Allman, and Leon Russell while there. My fraternity house was only two blocks from the venue and we had a baby grand piano in our lodge. Whenever a keyboard player would come to UGA, I would invite them over after the show to play. Leon accepted!
I cannot describe that experience! It was incredible! To hear the longest rendition of “Delta Lady” amongst others in your living room is a once in life time thing!
Leon played for almost two hours! He was a very nice man! His manager was having a good time and let Leon do what he wanted. It was very cool! I even drove Leon and his manager back to their hotel! (I was only 19 at the time!)
The next week, Leon’s manager called me and thanked me for “a good ole fashion good time”. Said Leon loved UGA and being able to come after the show to play!

ParticipantThat’s because I teach kindergarten, which means that either I’m not used to those “higher level” thinking challenges, or my mind has turned to mush from teaching kindergarteners, OR I am just not smarter than the Czar of Blab.

Put on “Camp Meeting” and push that button to Track #9! 😆 That’s number nine, number nine, number nine! 😆 (Who did that song?)
Now, don’t you feel a whole lot better?

ParticipantWell (deep subject 😆 ), the oil is changed, the tires rotated, my dawg at the kennel and I know it’s almost time for departure. All systems are go!
Eight hour drive to Tampa! You would not believe whom I’m picking up along the way!
I would have never thought it would have ever happened! A Bruuuce show, a DAWG game and someone very special from this forum all in one road trip!
But, for whatever reason, all the above have fallen into place!
My radar shows no tropical storms or hurricanes on the horizon. All wired up and probably won’t get any sleep tonight. Can’t wait until tomorrow!
At the end of the day when the sun is setting and the cows are coming home. There is no place I would rather be then…..
Bruuuce!David Day

ParticipantHave a great time David. I came about this__close to booking a flight down there. I’m lucky Bruce is up here in the northeast somewhat frequently but even so I know I’ll be wishing I was there later on tonight. Actually, I’m wishing that right now…
Can’t wait to hear all about it!
