The only thing that has ever crossed my record player (yes, I still own one that works), cassette player or CD player has been Bruce, and always WILL BE Bruce (okay, I confess, in the month of December, I throw in a little of the Chicago Christmas album, but that’s only until Bruce puts out one). 😆

    Currently:

    Counting Crows
    Shawn Colvin
    Rachel Griffin
    Ben Harper
    Dave Rich
    Jamie Cullum
    and Gemma Hayes

… and the day that Bruce puts out a Christmas album is the day that this site closes down!

Yikes. NEVER ask a musician this question.

Briefly, in the interests of space…

Jazz: Miles, Herbie, Chick, Ornette, Dave Douglas, Keith Jarrett, Duke, Charles Mingus, lots more
Rock/pop/folk/etc: Paul Simon, Billy Joel, early Elton John, Nick Drake, Bjork, Radiohead, Tom Waits, lots more
Soul & hip-hop: Stevie Wonder, James Brown, The Roots, Al Green, Sly & The Family Stone, Blackalicious
Latin and Brazilian music: Djavan, Buena Vista Social Club, boogaloo/Nuyorican soul…
Classical: Bartok, Frederic Rzewski, Osvaldo Golijov, Beethoven

You’re almost right in my case. I’ve heard of all of them except Project 86. I’ve known about TobyMac since he was with DC Talk,he’s great!
