KeymasterOkay guys – we’re after some help!
The next cover project of Bruce songs is underway, and we’d like all of you to be involved!
We really need a title for the project – something maybe to recognise this being the fourth such project, or maybe more appropriately, next year marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Way It Is being released.
Suggested names so far include: Connect 4, Five Jacks (English slang for 25 pounds), Quarter Pounder, Bull’s Eye (a score of 25 in archery or darts), After Notes, Fourth Chord, Perfect Fourth, and my favourite so far, Quarter Ton(e) Scales.
Can you do any better? Post any suggestions. and you’ll get full credit if your selection is chosen!

ParticipantLooooolllllllllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! How ya been?
Si: How about, in honor of the forthcoming live album, “Son of Shadow Hands” – ? Or maybe just, “Shadow Land” – ?
It also occurs to me that something graphically could be created with that Roman Numeral, “IV,” in the middle:
jIVe Talkin’ – ? …
Keepin’ It AlIVe – ? … 😆
ThrIVe – ? … “fIVe” – ???
Across the rIVer – ?
the great dIVide – ? <--My personal favorite!

ParticipantOK, I’m going to run these up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes them.
I thought about the possibility of “The way it isn’t”, but this is far too lazy, so went back and read Si’s original post to see what he was looking for. The recognition of the 25th anniversary of “The way it is” and this being the fourth cover CD. So using Victor’s idea, I came up with “The siIVer years” or “The siIVer tones”
I’m done

KeymasterHow didn’t i notice this before? Great stuff!
As far as the title, I love the “IV” idea…. how about “Salivate” as a play on “Levitate”?!
Unless anyone can think of a word with “XXV” in it?!
Or “ZS” or something that looks like a 25…?
I guess a double “S” would also work.

Not to offend you, but I would advise against employing the double S (SS )in that it’s still, quite unfortunately, has Nazi connotations.

ParticipantBelieve it or not there is a word that kinda has XXV in it.
I think Si said there is going to 25 songs on the cover album to represent 25 years. That is pretty extensive and there you have it, X ten 5 and IV being the fourth CD….
“The eXTEN5IVe collection”

ParticipantI have to say, though, I still kind of like my US Route 25 idea (see below); but I’m not absolutely certain yet that US25 runs through/near Williamsburg. Si, did you discover that I am totally wrong about that? If not, does anyone here know?
November 5, 2010 at 3:03 am #32177dbmurray
ParticipantI made this suggestion a couple of tribute CDs ago, and still like it…
Biggest And BaddestAnd here’s the rationale…
Those of us who are participating are covering some of Bruce’s biggest songs, and let’s face it, the vast majority of us are amateurs. Hopefully it isn’t going to be “bad” in the truly awful sense. The first three were pretty good overall. But, I haven’t heard one song yet that topped a Bruce original. “Baddest” sort of pokes fun at ourselves for enjoying Bruce so much that a group of strangers would come together and do something like this.November 10, 2010 at 9:31 am #32178Si Twining
KeymasterI do like Route 25… although my limited research suggests that US25 does not run through VA… can anyone confirm?
November 10, 2010 at 1:49 pm #32179squmsqum
ParticipantA quick look on Google map shows that Route 25 runs from Denver down into New Mexico and I think that BH once told a story at a concert where he stopped at a service station in Alburquerque for a packet of Ding Dongs and some BBQ charcoal briquettes, so a very strong connection there.

KeymasterI won’t name the person who came up with OLDBSTD, but I found it funny!
“Salivate” (as a play on Levitate) looks like the new favourite, or maybe simply XXVCD.
November 11, 2010 at 7:24 pm #32181mary
ParticipantYes, I25 is the interstate that runs north-south through Denver but there might be a county road called 25 that runs through VA. Just a thought.

KeymasterI now have a very definite idea in mind… have a look at this for a demo of the website, and a clue for the title (and it’s not XXVCD, despite the website link):
