    CMT show

I can’t wait until the CMT show tonight! I have been looking forward to seeing these two guys together, and haven’t been able to see the preview on CMT.com since I have a Mac, so it’s all going to be new. And Vic, I cannot adequately express my jealousy of you in having attended the CMT taping.

I made 2 shows this year, Knoxville & Bartlett, but like Allisa logged in many miles doing so, about 1300+, which is a moot point since Allisa has me beat!

    Knoxville Show

Well, I made it back to Missouri. I had such a great time at the Knoxville and Bartlett (or, as Bruce preferred, “Bahtlet”) shows. I want to leave a few comments and shout outs, so bare with me…

So, I was really bummed to miss the pre-show get together in Knoxville. For the folks who haven’t heard, I got stuck for hours on I-40 west of Nashville — a truck overturned and caught on fire, closing one lane of traffic. However, it really got sticky after a second truck got in a wreck due to the back-up from the first wreck (lost my atlas and hadn’t replaced it so no alternate route). Obviously, I finally made it through that but had to go the speed limit the rest of the way because there were cops EVERYWHERE. I thought I was still okay though, because it was shaping up that I would arrive in Knoxville at 7:00, hopefully early enough to catch the tail end of the pre-show action, and definitely on time for the show…and then I passed the foreboding sign informing me I’d crossed into the eastern time zone (hey, I’m a central time zone gal, okay?). Not only was I going to miss meeting some really cool folks, I was going to be late for the show I’d been looking forward to for months. I was getting schooled in Murphy’s Law.

Well, I finally made it to the venue, opened the door, and heard the band rocking Place Under the Sun (one of my current favorites). The usher showed me to my seat, and my troubles of the day completely melted away as I saw that although my ticket was for 3rd row, I was technically first row far right. Yes! I could stand and not piss anybody off!! I had a great view of the band, and got a kick out of getting such a close-up view of their interactions all night.

Well, I could go on and on about the show but I better wrap it up since this isn’t the review section. It was an amazing show all around. Having gotten home and checked the set list, discovering I missed a solo Darlin’ Corey at that show hurts. Candy Mountain Run flat rocked, and that version has become my favorite so far. As Victor mentioned, a hightlight was the guy that tried to get on stage during Rainbow’s Cadillac. I was cracking up at that guy when the next thing I know Bruce looks my way and asks if I want to get on stage, which elicited an immediate “Hell Ya” from me and it was on (I was in the orange shirt and green skirt, first one up baby :D)…that was something I’ll never forget — getting to be part of one of Bruce’s cheesy show biz moments, priceless.

David, thanks for getting Tango King on the set list, and you’re welcome for the good conversation 😉

Allissa, I was especially bummed to find out I missed your pre-show gift, and will definitely buy you a beer if we find ourselves at the same show in the future.

Victor, sorry I missed you, David speaks very highly of you.

Si and Dave from St. Louis, it was great to meet you and I wished we would have had time to hang. It was crazy that we arrived at the Bartlett show at the same time, just a few parking spaces away. Si, thank you so much for the video dose from Bartlett!

    Hey David!

I was just teasing…I’m looking forward to meeting people I can talk Hornsby with. The guy that got me into live Hornsby years ago (gave me my first shows on cassette) has since move to Ohio, and I’ve yet to meet anyone who truly appreciates live Hornsby here. Anywho, I don’t think I can wait, I’m in dire need of a Hornsby fix! My seat will be in Orchestra Pit Right, and I’m hoping it’s a good spot and not too far below stage. Well, see you guys then!

    Amanda,

I’ll be the short, pasty-faced humpback sitting with David and Si.

Thanks for the warning. I bet you get a lot of stares when you hang with Mr. tall, dark and handsome. I will try to remember my manners and not stare at you until your (hump)back is turned.

I actually live in Newcastle … maybe I’ll bring some with me!

(Or maybe not – I find it vile!)

For shame Si, for shame. Oh well, the whole Newcastle vile thing aside, you obviously have good taste since you’re into live Hornsby.

Thanks for the invite David! Meeting fellow Hornsby fans while getting a buzz on sounds like a great time to me, so I’ll definitely be there. I just hope they have Newcastle on tap…

Thanks David for the info on Hotel St. Oliver. I just booked a room, and wanted to let everyone know that rooms are still available the night of the show. As David said, they are inexpensive and within walking distance of the show.
