I have been asked by several people to do my best to tell you about the Symphony concert this past weekend in Miami. It was at the New World Center. Due to venue rules, I have no photos. But can tell you it was the most amazing show I’ve been to in a while. Not your normal Bruce concert though.

The New World Symphony is a group of talented musicians. They performed two wonderful songs with just the symphony players, but I know you are all wanting to know about Bruce.

He played with members of the symphony as well as Sonny Emory being there on drums. I had perfect front row seats. Bruce played one new song “Shit’s Crazy Out Here”, a song about Keith and his friends when they were young and world of basketball. Of course anyone who has been following the musical SCKBSTD would know the following songs. “Neighborhood Watch”, “Life in the Psychotropics, and “Where No One’s Mad”.

As always a wonderful set, short, but beautiful to hear Bruce play along with the symphony players.

Wish I could have gotten photos to share, but with this type of venue you have to follow the rules or loose your chance at seeing a wonderful concert. But the memories are great!

Hope this helps explain some of the wonderful night. They performed both Friday 1/30 and Saturday 1/31. I was able to see the Saturday performance.

We all know Bruce has some strange lyrics, but loved as always! What about “PaperBoy”? But hey my kids listen to them all, I give my parent approval!

I have to agree with the to each their own statement Si made. Some people will like it, some won’t, but I don’t think its something we should judge. We all know Bruce is a constant learner and loves to try different styles of music. I think that is what makes him a unique artist. We don’t always hear him play the same music, he’s always bringing something new for us to listen to. That is what I like about him.

In my opinion don’t knock it till you try it, you just might like it!

MVF, Don’t even get started with Dexter. My hubby is consumed with that show. He has just about every episode saved to his computer, so if you ever have a fix to watch the older shows again, please let me know. We can send your way. Don’t be surprised if the next time you talk to him he will talk for hours just about the show Dexter.

Yes the similarities of “Dexter” and “Paperboy” are very close….once again my theme for Halloween!

Reading directly from Spotify and from my CD #21 “Uncle Pen”(Live)…..how else should I explain?

EDIT: I take it back, now that I actually found my CD. Some little people in my house like to take my CD’s to their bedroom to listen to at night before going to bed. So I actually have not listened to the real CD yet…it walked off my desk as soon as it arrived.

There is no “Uncle Pen” on the CD you are correct. But when you listen on Spotify it is the #21 bonus song.

So I am mistaken. Sorry! Forgive me!

Lets see my favorite from “Cluck Ole Hen” CD has to be “Uncle Pen.” But its so hard sometimes to pick just one song, when you like the whole CD, but that is probably the one song I listen to the most.

And a note for Si, if you have Spotify, you can listen online! Do they have that in your part of the world. Sometimes I find that some things we have over here you all don’t have. But its worth a try to see if you can listen to the great music we have been able to listen to…

I’m looking forward to seeing Bruce and Ricky play in October. Front row seats in Oklahoma. So will let you all know how the show is!

I agree with MVF…great cobbler. So much, that we didn’t seriously have room. Next time remind me not to pack so much, but with kids and going that far, you never know what you will need. I still need that recipe…I hated leaving it behind, we could have really feed all the devotees and the band with that stuff! It was good. I am still missing it!

I love the idea of the slumber party! You never know what the future holds…your all great friends to have!

Will keep in touch, and I promise to get those pictures to you soon MVF!

Everyone has been right one, great show. So happy Bruce loved my request, seems everyone else thought it was a good request idea as well.

MVF…thank you for all you did for me, hubby and the kids! Junior and Abigail loved spending time with you. I can’t thank you enough for all you do for them!

Good to see all my Bruuuce.com friends(Jackie, David). Always good to see my friends on the east coast, always sad to leave, but someday I will return!

I will send pics to Si as soon as I have them sorted out!

Yes, I AM in the room next door with both kidlings. We have been up to all sorts of mischief! Don’t tell Monica, but we have already eaten ALL the cookies and all three of us are bouncing on the beds, watching Cartoon Network. Thinking of having “go-go juice” later on. You know what? I really needed this “kid fix”. Man, I miss being in the classroom! We are all having a ball — much more fun than Monica and her hubby are having next door ;-).

Almost 5am on Thursday….the Texas crew has left the building. Will contact MVF when we get close! So excited I didn’t get much sleep, but I’m sure riding in the car and listening to my Ipod (full of Bruce music), will put me back to sleep!

    See you all soon!

Better get in my orders now, count 4 for Barbeque…hubby loves Franks Hot sauce to be exact. Personally I’m into sweet, brown sugar or honey BBQ….but I’ll try something new..guess you’ll have to initiate me on NC BBQ.

    MVF, post: 8868 wrote:
Okay, then, I’ll make it official. I’ll take orders right up until 9:00am Friday. Dinner will include Barbeque, buns, coleslaw, sweet tea, and hush puppies, or their infamous Brunswick Stew, sweet tea, and hush puppies. $5.00 a person should cover everything, including transportation and importation fees, plus storage costs at my son’s house. Just respond on this site if you are interested. Oh, and I guess I need to make this clear. We are talking EASTERN North Carolina ‘que. I’ll pack along some sauce and Texas Pete for the uninitiated.

A big thanks to David, Jackie and MVF…looking forward to seeing you all. We are leaving Texas on Thursday morning, so should arrive on Friday afternoon.

MVF are we still planning on the motel situation. Send me a private message or text or email, what ever works.

So many last minute things I have to do this week. So don’t mind if my chatting seems a bit scattered. I’m always nervous before a trip.

But will be so worth it when I get there!!

    Hi everyone!

I know we’re all getting “fired up” (as David would say) about the first ever double Bruuuce.com Board meetup. I’ve gladly accepted the assignment of organizing the picnic festivities. The venue gates open at 6:30-that is the start time for this meetup. So unearth those quilts, blankets or picnic cloths out of storage and we’ll get the party started!

We will need to know approximately how many people will be at the picnic meetup so everyone will know how much food to bring.

There are 3 options for the picnic:

    1) Each person attending brings food items (main dish, side dish ,dessert) or beverages or ice or paper products (cups, plates, napkins, plastic ware)-in other words-a traditional picnic. Remember food, coolers and unopened drinks are allowed. Beer & wine must be purchased at the venue.

    2) Catered food items, beer, wine, etc may be purchased at the venue.

    3) A combination of the first 2 options.

Which option sounds best to you all?

The big day is getting close,so if we want to have the old-fashioned picnic, please let me know who is bringing which item(s) soon.

Have I forgotten anything ? If anyone has suggestions for this event,I’m happy to receive them.

    See you all in Raleigh!

    Jackie

Being I am coming from Texas will do my best, maybe will bring some cookies and picnic supplies. Let me know if that works for you Jackie.

Honey, I WISH it were only three meds. I take 2 drugs for rheumatoid arthritis, 1 for osteoarthritis, 1 for early stage liver disease (caused by RA drugs, NOT alcohol), 2 for depression, 1 for bipolar disorder, 1 for anxiety, 1 for a thyroid condition, 2 to fight the fatigue of RA, 2 for side effects from bariatric surgery, 1 for edema caused by low protein levels, one for extreme anemia and B12 deficiency, and antihistamines for chronic allergies. Not to mention cortisone shots, prednisone tapers, and Vicodin whenever I have major flare-ups of the RA and can’t bend my joints. NOW you can understand why I occasionally disappear from the Board. AND why I need my couple of drinks with my SiBs and BiBs at my yearly concert forays. Because of liver, that’s all I’m allowed, and I can’t think of any other group of people I’d rather share them with!

It’s Hell getting old. I don’t recommend it to anyone. Although I am sometimes tempted to WISH it upon a certain pseudo-Rastafarian we all know!!!!!!

Just wondering since I will probably be the only one who doesn’t fall over drunk this time around, due to have two little people with me, should I be the holder of the keys again. Sure wouldn’t want MVF loosing them again…and no falling either!!! I can only bring so many band aids, and you better like those cute character ones!

Can’t wait only 13 more days, think I might have to start packing already! Let me know if anyone is interested in any baked goods from Texas, will do my best to bring a surprise, but I’m excellent when it comes to cookies! Something for the picnic more then likely, but I’m going to try to make it to both meet ups.
