ParticipantI’m deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Melissa. She was beautiful inside and out. Her kindness to me and countless others through the years will always be with me. She graciously handled my many requests to the Hornsby office, was eager to hear my “road trip” stories and even gave me valuable advice when dealing with record company execs ! I was fortunate to have known her.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.careyon
ParticipantI met Tony in the early 90’s and met up with him and Liz at several Bruce shows in the OH/KY area.
In those days we traded tapes of live shows. It was always a great time celebrating Bruce’s music
with each other and sharing our enthusiasm with other fans. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I’ll miss you, Big Rumble and the Bruce world will too !careyon
ParticipantKat,
Your photos are fantastic! Love the perspectives and composition.
As a fellow photographer, I know the challenges of photographing the Noisemakers
live on stage.
As one of our favorite lyricists might say : “Pat yourself on the back, you did a great job !”careyon

ParticipantThis setlist was from Atlantic City , NJ.
It was pretty much the Top 100 hits in chronological order.
The radio hits CD in Intersections has a similar sequence.
“Lost Soul” and “Don of Dons” in the Trump Casino were the highlights for me.careyon
ParticipantPerhaps Song F was really Song H?
It was one of my favs this time out, but Richmond was spectacular as well…
Usually my favorite show is the last one I’ve seen, that’s why these guys are so
special.careyon
ParticipantThank you for solving the mystery for me. I noticed that on his website it stated 13 tracks, yet
the CD has 12 and all the related articles/interviews say 12 as well.
Now I understand !careyon
ParticipantMy deepest sympathy to the entire Hornsby family. Hopefully the thoughts and prayers from
others will bring some comfort during this very difficult time.
Seeing R.S. playing and smiling up there with Bruce and the Noisemakers is something I will always cherish.
Thank you Si, for devoting this site to his music on what would have been his 29th birthday. What
a fitting tribute to a talented and kind soul.careyon
ParticipantI would have been glad to help, but I live in the opposite direction from Richmond/Norfolk !
Sorry I couldn’t be of assistance.Hope Dave found a ride.

ParticipantDavid,
You are so right! I will be there!
Looking forward to seeing everyone! 😆careyon
ParticipantI am honored to be among the inductees this year !
Bruuuce.com is the place to be for Bruce fans and we even have the chance to give back
through the Merlin Project.
We can always count on Mr. David Day to keep us entertained, too!
Thank you.* While I do enjoy photographing Bruce gigs, I started DAT taping shows on the Harbor Lights tour (1993).
Since I’m no expert in this field, I usually shared my soundboard copy with someone who could duplicate it
so it could be shared further. So, you may have a show in your collection that I initially recorded several years
back. Orlando,FL (10/30/93) is an example of one that seemed to reach a fair number of fans. Tampa,FL
(10/31/93) the next night was another……
Ahh, those soundboard taping days were special. That made the recent gift from Bruce (Dec 2007)of a Noisemaker board
simply sweet!careyon

ParticipantHey David,
I am planning to be there, in true road scholar form! I have a family obligation that afternoon, so it’ll be a challenge to arrive before showtime. I’m afraid my meal that evening will be consumed on “Cruise Control” , if you know what I mean.
How nice of you to remember, though. It will be good to see you and other Bruuuce folks there!Carey

ParticipantWell, it looks like Bruce and Ricky will make a stop this fall in my neck of the woods. There’s an ad for the show in today’s local paper (5/31) for their gig on Oct. 20, 2007 in Salem,VA. I think I can make it to this gig without a road atlas or mapquest.

ParticipantThere were definitely solo shows prior to 2000.
I remember Bruce playing solo sets in Borders Books in support of the “Hot House” CD in 1995. I saw one in Washington DC that summer. (They were free, too!) He played solo at Constitution Hall there as well. He gradually added a few more the next couple of years, including one with Bela Fleck and one with Jackson Browne in 1996. By 1998, he played several, including a week at Yoshi’s in LA. In 1999, there was the great 3 nights of solo Bruce in Williamsburg, VA right down the street from where he grew up.
The solo gigs have a very intimate vibe. When the “band” is Bruce’s left hand, you’re in for a special night.

ParticipantSi,
I’m sorry you are having more pain as you await surgery. May you receive the best care available and a speedy recovery. We’ll miss you and
we’ll be thinking about you. We will try to entertain ourselves in your
absence. Take care of yourself and see you back here soon!We understand if your “daily dose” must change from “musical” to “medicinal” for a while. 😉

ParticipantHey, Vic!
Here’s my ticket story:
When I learned about their appearance on Conan’s show, I called the number listed online for tickets to the show. They were taking requests for shows the week AFTER this one, so I was about a week too late. I did some research and learned about the stand-by ticket process and decided to give it a try. After arriving at the studio around 8:30 am Monday morning, I secured stand-by ticket #14 and went through the line again and got stand-by ticket #29 (just in case you showed up, Vic, or some other deserving Bruce fan. No, I’m not making this up!) You still don’t know if you get in until you return in the afternoon and they determine how many extra seats they have. From 3:45pm until 5:20pm, I was shuffled from one line to another as I inched closer to a seat in the Conan television audience. Finally, they say they need the first 20 for sure – Yippee, that includes me 😆 ! We are given an official red ticket and we wait in our final line before being ushered into the studio. We all received an official Late Night with Conan t-shirt complete with “audience member” on the sleeve. It was a worthwhile experience. Most people are there just to get on the show, not because they are fans of the scheduled guests. It may be a record for me for the longest wait to hear ONE song. Conan came out and talked to us before the show for a few moments and got us laughing, etc. There were many TV monitors above our heads to watch. I just wish more Bruuuce fans could have joined me. So be sure to look for me towards the middle of the second row from the top. After the show, Bruce was looking around and saw me waving and waved back to his dedicated “stand-by” fan. The people next to me were very impressed 😉 .
*I remember Conan holding up the CD and introducing them, but I can’t remember if he gave the name of the song.
* I regret to report there was no sighting of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.careyon
ParticipantI attended the taping of the Conan show which includes a Bruce and Ricky performance of “The Dreaded Spoon”. It was a fun version and of course, I was hoping they might have time to sit down and talk a few minutes but it didn’t happen. They taped it this past Monday(april 23) because Conan will be going to San Francisco to do his show there next week. Their performance was at the end of the show. Conan did come over and thank them though. Make sure you watch or TiVo it!

ParticipantDana, those articles are a great find! Thanks so much for sharing them with us. I’m sure many others here will enjoy them.

ParticipantYes, I received a copy with both autographs on March 24, but I ordered mine from Bruce’s website, BruceHornsby.com.
careyon
ParticipantYes, that is Bela’s banjo excellence you are hearing during that brilliant performance! He played with Bruce that night in Danbury, CT and the previous night in Cohasset as well. Whenever they share the stage you’re in for a special night!
