Well I voted for it’s a great work.

Had a bit of a break ‘cos the wife wanted to watch some tv thing,.– but back on it now.

So far the weakest track for me is the title track,- but I can see that it’s probably a bit hit for Kobe fans ;)

heh,- “current in drink” – what was that about?

Just checking the beer gorilla didn’t type anything too in-appropriate ;)

Yeah jdbeck, it’s definitely a slick production job on it,- but i dunno,- does Bruce need to go on walkabout or something? spend a few months as a hippy travelling through mali maybe?

Mind you the same could be said of me recently,- the mojo ain’t a flowing….

actually… to flesh out that statement,

(bearing in mind I am current *in drink* as it were)

I’ve been listening to the blue note gig recordings from the daily dose week and man they are SMOKIN! – spider fingers really kicks it out and you can’t help but shake your butt to it. That’s where the juice is in my opinion..

    I’m saying nothing.

    ;)

(ok I’m really really hoping the rest of the album is the noisemakers kicking that live vibe out,- but I’m too polite to say it here really ;) )

certainly did! – loving the bela fleck concert, and the outtakes from the MTV show (which I have on DVD) are a great insight :)

without hearing it myself,- sometimes these things just happen.

I know in our band, sometimes the music takes everyone a certain way, you start hitting an accent ‘cos it feels right and coincidentally so does someone else – and yeah it sounds pretty neat when it happens.

Bruce may have nodded to sonny at that point and Sonny remembered hitting on an accent before and away they went.

It’s the beauty of having a tight close-knit band.

yeah you hit it on the nail todd.

How can just a piano sound like bruce. I mean,- guitarists use their own tone, generally by having a certain guitar, pickups, cabs- whatever, but with piano it’s just a piano,- so all that makes the difference is the actual notes being played.

Could you pick out someones Xylophone style for instance??

    well…

    I’d have to put in…

    Prince.
Maan he’s got a range and a stunning performance.

    Freddie Mercury.
Ditto,- awesome range and great performance.

    George Michael.
You simply can’t dismiss this guys gift. One of the reasons he was one of the only people able to front Queen when Freddie died.

    Bonnie Rait.
Yup I agree bit time with this one. Amazing control.

    Celine Dion.
Love her or hate her,- or merely stare in awe at her horsey face. She is a truly great singer.

in fact add to her Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, and all that lot – they all deserve huge credit at their range and control.

plus many more,- Frank Sinatra, David Lee Roth (I dont know of ANYONE who can abuse their vocal chords like this guy and make it sound wonderful), James Brown – agree 100%, oh Eva Cassidy, she’s not technically amazing but her ability to connect is.

    Kind regards

I prefer the noisemakers stuff hands down – ’tis a no-brainer.

It would be interesting to hear Bruce revisit songs from his back catalogue and rework them with the noisemakers in the studio… ah yes,- I can imagine sonny going crazy on “the wild frontier”

    hehe.

ten views and no-one’s bitten the bullet :)

    ok i’ll start.

When I’m having a sneaky net-browse at 9am on the weekend it’s very annoying when you forget the music is there and it starts up and you think “sh#t! sh#t! – wheres the volume!!!,- linz’ll wake up! and she’ll spank me!”

This produces a certain sound (full, flowing…). I’m not sure if it’s made because Bruce doesn’t strike the notes in certain chords all at once or is it an effect he gets by using the pedals? It could be another form of voicing chords. Can the musicians out there help me or at least tell me if I’m having auditory hallucinations…

No need to worry! 😆 MVF has auditory hallucinations all the time! 😆 😆 😆

Maybe it can be summed up by what Bruce has said before…..”Why play only one note when you can play many”? (I hope I got that right, but you get the picture.)

Maybe the keyboard players can “chime in” here.

Speaking of “going to the Daves”, where has DaveR been? Another great keyboardist! Hope MVF didn’t scare him away! 😆 😆 😆

That reminds me of a joke.

Whats the difference between Jazz guitarists and Rock guitarists?

Rock guitarists play three chords to thousands of people.

    :D
