There is one thing missing that I did not reveal. Back when Si had Bobby appreciation day, I mentioned my dream could also fit into that.
When I cranked up the stereo and realized it was Candy Mountain Run, it was with the Noisemakers! I remember that Doug cranked out a guitar solo that sounded like Eric at first, but then faded into a riff of his own. I remember thinking that this was the best I’ve ever have heard Doug play!
It just doesn’t get better than this! But then, I realized that I could not see Doug or any of the Noisemakers except for Bobby. Bobby was standing where he normally does behind Bruce (Schroeder) playing piano! I could tell at the end of the song where Bobby does the thing he does best, that by Bruce’s face (Schroeder), they really hit a sweet spot that was incredible! I would love to hear that again!
Now you really know why I can’t get it off my mind!

To bring in Atlanta, my hometown, and running, one of my passions, took a lot of thought! I must admit when I first read it, and then Allisa’s response, it was a gut busting, laughing moment! 😆I’m no match for Rich’s rhetoric or creativity, but what I’m about to reveal was a dream! I still can’t believe I had it. Don’t know why I did. Maybe it is “brain damage” afterall! 😆
One night when I was in a very deep slumber, I awoke and and leaned up in bed. I still don’t know if it was a dream, a vision or some form of “out of body experience”. 😆 Something inside told me that a special was coming on TV and I should go and turn TV on.
Now, that is rather stange to me. I don’t watch that much TV. I will watch CNBC (business news), the Weather Channel or college football, but that’s about it. I don’t watch much TV!
I somehow made it downstairs and turned on the TV and my surrond sound system. The TV came on and before my eyes and ears was a Peanuts Cartoon special. Before I knew it, a Schroder scene came on. But, it was not Schroder playing piano, it was Bruce!
I jumped up, cranked up the stereo and couldn’t believe what I was hearing!
You gussed it! Candy Mountain Run! In fact, it was the longest verision I ever heard! At the end of the song, I jumped up, clapping yelling Bruuuuce!
At that moment, I awoke from my deep slumber with a big smile on my face singing……..Forget about tomorrow live for today

What do you think the lyrics are all about? Or, are they “meaningless” put to a good tune? Or, do they have some “underlying message” Bruce is trying to portray to us?

I agree that the likes of Chicago and the B-52s would be great to hear in concert, but let me put this in perspective as a Thought From A Road Scholar.
The Bilmore has “watered down” the summer concert series. It use to be in July & August. Saturday nights and some Friday nights during both months. Now, they have limited the summer concert series to just a very few weekends in August.
This is my story and I’m sticking to it! At the end of the day when the sun is setting and the cows are coming home, there is no one I would rather see than……

That’s one thing that make it so interesting! Lyrics don’t have to make sense or be a ballad that tells a story, which Bruce is great at, but can be meaningless. Sometimes, the lyrics are written to fit the note. The band Yes, was great at that! The lyrics can also be written to have an underlying message that only the song writer knows what it is all about. The lyrics are written to fit the music, it doesn’t make sense to the listner, it may sound great, but the composer may be revealing a deep feeling that is not understood to the listner.
I say all that to say that I have a theory about Candy Mountain Run. My theory is that it is related to another song written earlier by Bruce on Big Swing Face. Yes, Big Swing Face. What song do you think I am referring too?
I’m probably way “out in right field”, but that’s what makes music so exciting to listen too.
I would love to hear rdiakun’s opinion on this one!
