ParticipantI was listening to Halcyon Days today and was wondering. 💡
Do you think Bruce reached a higher peak after Spirit Trail or Halcyon Days?

Hey MVF,
What happened to NC State?Hey Vic,
You going to bet on TN? 😆Since the DAWGS aren’t there, I’ll have to pull for FL. (They wear orange also. You can’t trust anyone who wears orange!) (That includes TN, Clemson, Auburn & FL) ❗ 😆
Speaking of Clemson, do you know how to find your way to Clemson?
Answer: You go north till to you smell it and west till you step in it! ❗ 😆Who is everyone pulling for?

B.B.King, Ricky Skaggs, Branford Marsalis to name a few more.Anybody else?

Participanttreah wrote:My answer is, “All of the above.” Bruce constantly amazes me with the things he does musically.Another reason I like Bruce’s music is harder to define. Maybe it has to do with the way he voices chords or his singing style. I only know when I unexpectedly hear one of Bruce’s songs, my spirit gets lighter and the day instantly gets better. Not a very technical answer, I know, but that is as specific as I can get.
I think I can answer that! Bruce’s music is “soul music”. It’s feeds the soul. It’s “soul food”. It refreshes the soul!

That would be hard to do on a trombone! Speaking of talent, two hand independence on a trombone! ❗

rabjohns wrote:Bruce is a superb technical player, brilliant improviser and fantastic composer. The live work showcases his innovative flair – every performance is different (why else would we all have 26 different versions of the same song, love them all for their differences, and talk about them in terms of concert dates?). Most other musicians have maybe one or two published live performances. You said that well! I’ve been to 51 shows and they all have been different. I also love “Here Comes the Noise Makers” record! Talk about something that gets me fired up!
Bruce is great in concert! I’m a telling ya! I look forward to a few this summer!

ParticipantRe: Peaking?
rabjohns wrote:Peaking? Not a relevant question here. I for one am happy to listen to whatever he’s willing to play for me. There are no tunes that I never play – some just take a little more time to reveal their true quality.I feel the same way!
Bruce did seem to turn it up a notch after “Hot House Ball” going into “Spirit Trail”. It’s obvious there has been many peaks so far. I wonder if “Spirit Trail” has been the highest peak so far?

Participantdaverich wrote:When i first started I found it easier to kinda bob up and down to the tempo of the left hand – it kinda keeps it going easier, and then just forget about the left hand whilst playing other stuff on the right, after a while it’s just a matter of locking the different patterns in and then forgetting about them – leaving you to concentrate on showing offSince you’re left handed, maybe it’s easier for you since you can “forget about the left hand.”
What about you other pianists?
Are you left handed or right handed? Do you think it’s easier being left or right handed to play two hand independece?Anyone know if Bruce is left or right handed?

It’s a great song! (I’m leading up to Candy Mountain Run on my “Has Bruce Peaked?” thread.) Check it out.
I’ll asked the same question. How about a lyrical analysis from some of you other road scholars! ❗

ParticipantSome great thoughts guys! Keep them coming! ❗
Why is it you like Bruce’s music so much? Does Bruce play in sharps & flats vs majors? Does Bruce change keys in the middle of a song vs 3 or 4 chord stuff? Does Bruce tend to change his tempos? Is it the two hand independence thing? Is it the difficulty of his music? Be specific!

I’ll be in, depending on technology that is needed. Count me in for guitar: 6 string & 12 string acoustic.
Sounds like to me you need a Road Scholar involved in this project! 😆
