ParticipantThis is such a fantastic idea! I’m in–even with failing body parts, I can still peck out chopsticks.
(Oh, and I’m Erin, 28, piano, vocals and sometimes guitar. Nice to meet you too!)

ParticipantQuote:Suffice to say, I actually sensed tension in the crowd, and on-stage, at a couple of solo shows last year.I attended several of the midwest solo shows this past year and there was definitely a noticeable difference in both the audience’s and Bruce’s mood from show to show (usually directly proportionate to the amount of people loudly yelling out “Jack Straw!!!” at completely inopportune times). I think that “tension” is exactly the way to put it. It really irritates me that such potentially great shows can be so quickly ruined for fans and performers alike.
With regard to the original topic, I enjoy both types of shows, of course, but while solo shows give me abolute chills, the band shows do get me more fired up. It is so much fun watching the interplay between Bruce & the band. And I love trying to figure out which song/key/crazy direction they’re going to take off to next.

ParticipantI have to say, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this thread.
It’s neat to read the perspective of other musicians on this subject. Two hand independence is one of my favorite techniques to practice–it’s challenging, but not the awful kind of challenging that makes you want to toss the baby grand out the window. Now–those full keyboard runs Dave R. mentioned…that’s another story (but man, when you finally get one all the way through–Woohoo!!!). I’m recovering from a bum right hand and wrist and working on those runs really helps with the strength and agility!

ParticipantAwwwww! I was really hoping for something really really difficult so that I could get over it by telling myself that I wouldn’t have won anyway!

ParticipantSomething about Song B reminds me of the intro for Changes Made.

ParticipantI’d love to see the Dreaded Spoon up as a dose. Thanks!

ParticipantThanks a million!!! I’ll look forward to hearing from you!

ParticipantI’ll be there with my husband, my mother & father and two friends (who will both be experiencing Bruce live for the first time)–I cannot wait!!! We’re all also taking in the concert Friday in Cedarburg!
In case you want to say hello, I’ll be the tall almost-thirty-something woman with the short brown hair running ridiculous requests up to the stage!

ParticipantThe Beach Boys–at the Wisconsin State Fair–as a gawky teenager in the early ’90’s…good times!

ParticipantI’ve seen one other solo Bruce show in the mid-90’s so this is going to be a treat! Maybe I’ll see you there!

ParticipantI especially enjoy the review of Spirit Trail contained in the Intersections booklet in which the reviewer states that Bruce is too smart for his own good & could profit from dumbing things down…
a) I’m glad he doesn’t dumb it down; and
b) This can only mean that Bruce’s fans some of the smartest in the world!Erin G.
ParticipantThe Hot House Ball request in a dose from not long ago…that was pretty cool…

ParticipantBruce via MP3 is better than no Bruce at all…
