    Wow! That’s impressive!

Just one question……..Have you ever practiced two hand independence on your dash while driving? :?: 😆

hmmm…..two handed independence on the dash…..??? I’d have to say most likely. I know I sing and drum like a fool on the steering wheel, dash and stick shift while I drive, so possibly that qualifies. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Si – (although I do not recall getting OUT of my car to yell at people on the street in NYC…. but I know I yell at them all the time while I’m singing and drumming with 2 handed independence behind the wheel!)

ps and btw – I will be in Atlanta for Sonny’s CD release party on June 23. There will be tickets available to this event – being held and the Fox Theater – not sure when they go on sale or any more details but I will surely let you know when I get the info from Sonny. David – since you live in Lake Lanier – that’s not too far away – maybe you will attend?

ok – I’ve been out of touch for a long time, but I think I’d qualify for “road scholar” status -but is seems David maintains the power to bestow the title, so…..

I’ve seen Bruce play approximately 60 or possibly 70-some-odd times. I have seen him solo as well as with just about every configuration of his band (w/a guitar player, w/out a guitar player; w/Molo, Mike Baker, Land Richards, Bonnie Boneparte, and Sonny Emory on drums – w/the Big Dog and w/out the Big Dog, w/Debbie Henry and w/out her…. and I’ve seen him with the Grateful Dead, The Other Ones and the Sensative Ones; and sharing a stage with Bela Fleck, Bruce Springsteen, various members of his family (Bobby, Ann and RS); I’ve seen him indoors, outdoors and in festivals; I’ve danced on stage with throngs of people and by myself; and I have seen him play in ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, NY, NJ, VA, FL, WA, OR and CA. ( I don’t think I’ve left any states out.) While I’ve lived on both coasts during these times, I think I have flown across the country to catch shows at least once, but this was in conjunction with visits to family and/or friends.

During a time in my life when I had more time in my life, I used to review shows and give all kind of insights – things have become more hectic I have not reported much about the shows, but have danced my ass off every time.

I have met some truly amazing people through all this adventure and have made some wonderful friends. It’s been exuhausting, exhillarating, refreshing, and rejuvinating…. and worth ever mile, every gallon of gas and every penny.

…. thank you, and I hope I pass the audition….

I wouldn’t call it “hatin’ “…. but it’s not my cup of tea at all. Besides, while I’m sure the Skaggs family are very nice people, I – for one – have had way too many experiences with people who “preach the gospel” but don’t really live it. So, being asked to sit through a VERY preachy song about a cross and Jesus and all that tends to bring up a bad taste in my mouth. It’s not what I was there for, and in fact – the event was NOT a religious event and I don’t really think it was appropriate (but as I said, more people in the south tend to beleive the same way the Skaggs family does, so it seems that this type of religious display at a securlar event is more acceptable there than in other places).

I did, however, like the song that Ricky’s daughter wrote and performed, AND I have enjoyed the preformances I’ve seen with Bruce and Ricky…so please don’t think I have anything against the Skaggs family simply becasue I don’t necessarily agree with their spiritual beleifs. In fact, I think a person’s spiritual/religious beliefs are none of my business, and everyone is perfectly entitled to beleive how ever they choose. I just don’t really care to hear about Jesus, Buddah, Allah, or any other religious icon at a concert.

    ok ok ok – so I guess I should add my 2 cents… it’s been a long time since I’ve posted…..

“Stellar” must have been the agreed upon word for Kat and me, because that is exactly how I would describe the day. Sun, music, music and sun – a little rain…. and then more music. What’s not to love?

I had thought we would see separate sets from Bruce, Chaka and Ricky, with each performer sitting in here and there. SO glad I was mistaken. Bruce rocked his home town with a passion. Yes – I could have SO done without the religious interjections by the Skaggs’, but we were in the south, right? I guess it’s to be expected.

A loooong drive down – and a loooong drive home, for a loooong and wonderful day of music. So fortunate am I that I had amazing company and got to see the people I haven’t seen in a long time. I love Bruce in any capacity – but I think I love to see him best with the band.

So…just trying to see if I have enough pennies for BBs with the Jazz trio….. 8)

Why did he walk off the stage during his one and only encore?

I would say it was because he was a bit insulted by the rudeness of the dude in the crowd. I don’t really blame him for being aggrivated. He’s up there playing and this moron is making enough of a scene for it to distract Bruce – even if you didn’t see it. I didn’t see what happened either, but I know it must have gone on longer than necessary for Bruce to react the way he did.

    Quote:
Telling your fans that you thought “they were smarter than that” seems a little unprofessional. Also, why is Bruce so concerned about fans coming to watch him only for his past hits? Personally, I don’t think after roughly 20 years people are still coming around just to hear those songs and even if they were, perhaps Bruce should feal honored that he wrote a few songs that remain in people’s souls even 20 years later.

Regarding his comment about the fans being smarter – I figure he was addressing this person’s lack of understanding about what is appropriate social behavior. The guy was hecking Bruce’s music during a concert for which he’d obviously paid to see the man play… and if he didn’t like the music he was more than welcome to simply leave – he didn’t need to be an ass about it. Don’t you think young Ms Joel would have had something of an issue of people had done that during her set?

Bruce does give people a hard time about wanting only to hear “the hits”, but it’s really good natured ribbing. I’m sure he’s very proud of all of his songs, and obvioulsy likes those because he continues to play them, he may continually change them up and to keep them fresh – but I think when he teases the crowd about it, he’s really saying, “If you think that’s good, you should check out some of the stuff I’ve done lately.”

    my $.02

I have to agree with Si… what we did see of Bruce and the boys, I thought was quite good. I was, however, unimpressed with the young MS Joel. I happened to be standing right back where her parents were standing… Mom seemed VERY impressed with her little girl, singing along with every song – Dad bopped about a bit, but then, interestingly disappeared. Maybe he was too embarrassed by his daughter’s nervous chatter. The quote by the Newsday reviewer about how she “chatted effortlessly with the crowd” made me laugh. I think she made some grand announcement about being nervous between every song. She has a lot to learn.

Bruce’s set was wonderful, as per usual. Too short? Yes, but it always is when there is an opening performer. At least the opening band in Lowell (The Brew) was actually really good… I was pleasantly surprised.

So for those of you who were ‘disappointed’ – don’t let that show leave you feeling like all his shows are like that – it was certainly not the norm. (except, of course, for the amazing stuff he had the chance to get out to us!)

Currently NYC – don’t plan on ever moving far from here again. (Damn, I love this town….)

Last three shows of the tour rocked me. Looking forward to solo gigs in the fall….

There was so much talk of Vince’s passing, as it was very tragic and he was in a bad way. I think it’s a bit morbid to make light of it…
