ParticipantI guess it depends on what time the ceremony is. If you can get NCSU to schedule their graduation early enough in the day, then you should have time for the drive from Raleigh to Jamestown.
Maybe the queen will still be in town and will go to the show.

ParticipantAccording to brucehornsby.com, Bruce just added a show in his hometown!
May 12…Bruce will be joined by Ricky Skaggs and Chaka Khan for a concert as part of Jamestown’s 400th anniversary celebration.
Cool stuff…Boone….Greensboro…Jamestown
What a great string of concerts for those of us in VA and NC.GreenFlag
ParticipantI’ll have to say that there are two shows tied for my favorite….
First was the taping of the CMT Crossroads show with Ricky Skaggs….awesome partnership.
Second would have to be a benefit concert at the Mosque in Richmond…Bruce and Jackson Browne played a solo acoustic show. The stage was filled with two grand pianos and a lot of guitars, but only Bruce and Jackson. They each played for an hour solo, then together for about an hour. It was really cool to hear them trade off each other’s songs.
Ready to go see another show. Come back to Virginia, Bruce!!

ParticipantIt looks like the Crossroads show did exactly what it was designed to do….expose fans of one artist or genre to another….
The chemistry between these guys was great, and the level of musicianship on the entire stage was incredible.
I’ll have to say though…I was one of the lucky ones who got to see the show when it was taped for CMT, and listening to the music on TV was like looking at a reprint of a Monet or Picasso after you just stared at the original in a museum…no comparison. The depth of the instruments on stage live was magic.
The new version of Mandolin Rain is….haunting. Man, what a different character that song has in its new format. And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….listening to that song with Ricky Skaggs playing the mandolin is the best.
The “Dreaded Spoon” is already a new favorite. I can’t wait to wear out that track on the CD.
It was also cool to see the backstage or rehearsal segments on the Crossroads show. It was obvious from the way they worked together on stage that they had a friendship before walking out onto stage.
So, how many more days til the CD comes out???
Patiently waiting…..GreenFlag
ParticipantWhich part of England will you be visiting?

ParticipantThat’s too cool, Victor.
I agree totally….this partnership has the potential to bring a lot of crossover. I noticed there weren’t too many people yelling out ‘bruuuuuce’ during the show (I was one of a few). The folks sitting around me weren’t as familiar with Bruce before the show, but were really turned on to him afterwards.Kat, how about that fiddle player? In my opinion, he was the third star of the show.
Victor, I gotta tell you….when either Bruce or Ricky said that anyone who showed up in NY with their CMT flyer in hand would get in free, my wife and I had to think about the logistics of the trip! But, one cross-country trip in a week was all our babysitters could stand.

“ALWAYS enter impromptu contests!”
The contest was for two free tickets to an invitation-only taping of CMT’s Crossroads show with Bruce and Ricky Skaggs. They put on a great show. I had to drive about 8 hours from Virginia to Nashville through an ice storm to see it….and I would do it all over again tomorrow.

ParticipantAfter seeing Bruce and Ricky perform for CMT’s Crossroads the other day, all I can say is…..BUY THE ALBUM!
The chemistry between them is really good…and if Ricky’s band Kentucky Thunder backs them on the album, it will be a fantastic collection of musicians.IMHO, the album will be worth its purchase if for nothing more than to hear Mandolin Rain with Ricky Skaggs on mandolin.

ParticipantThrough the generosity of the good folks at brucehornsby.com, I got two tickets to the show in Franklin as well. What a fantastic performance.
My wife and I got to sit on the fourth row…maybe 20 or 25 feet from the stage on Bruce’s side (always good to be able to watch the prestidigitation!)As the guy from CMT said in his intro, that was the most amazing collection of true musicians on stage that Crossroads has ever seen. The chemistry between Bruce and Ricky was great and, as Victor said, Kentucky Thunder’s fiddle player (Andy) is amazing.
I’ll have to say, the live version of “Mandolin Rain” was incredible…and to hear it played with Ricky Skaggs on mandolin…wow. And it’s always good to hear “The Valley Road” played Bluegrass style. “The Dreaded Spoon” is a new favorite. I am counting the days until the show airs on CMT and the Hornsby/Skaggs bluegrass album comes out.
It was a fantastic evening…two great musicians in front of a talented band in a small, intimate hall….it was well worth the 8-hour drive from Virginia (through an ice storm, no less).
Yes, I know the photo quality isn’t great….I was following CMT’s no-flash rule.
