The only other fan site I check out is Ratdog.org and it’s amazing how that place is still going for a fan site, despite Facebook… I think a lot of folks on there might not bother with FB. It’s nice to keep this place going though…I still check in often…Especially the set lists and the wiki pages. Yeah it’s a shame we lost two guys who were mainstays as I remember both of them and their contributions to this site.
I know Bruce use to read the comments posted here as when I last met him when he came to town in 2015 he sorta accused me of posting whining and negative stuff here but I’m pretty sure he confused me for somebody else at least hopefully he did as I couldn’t find what he was talking about when I look through past posts…still to this day that conversation with him bugs me for him to think/say that…despite Bruce’s misunderstanding of any of my posts, He’s still the man and I can’t wait till the next time I can see him play.

    Bruce is the man!
So thankful for his music and all the times I got to see him play…hopefully I get a chance to see him again soon.
I’m pretty stoked that he’s busting out much more of his catalog now that the (new) guys have a good grasp of his tunes and his form of improv. I remember being a little bummed when I seen a few shows during the first tour or two with the (new)guys as the set lists were too similar and the tunes not played as improvisational as they usually are…but thankfully they found their stride and we get much more of the catalog to enjoy live.
I’m still hoping that Bruce will dust off my favs like The Old Playground and Passing Through.

    Pick some good ones!
Yeah I’m glad to see more of the catalog being played.
My biggest worry with the ‘new’ guys was that they don’t know enough songs for Bruce to be able to play many requests as over the last year or two he barely played many of the requests with the band.
I can’t wait to see them Thursday. Enjoy the show!

You sure that’s the date as I have everything available from Munckmusic…and don’t recall that date.

Bobby Read just came out with a new jazz cd. I got the email alert from cdbaby last week. It says that he retired from the road. I own Bobby’s last jazz cd and dig it a lot so I’m gonna order his new one.
    Here’s the link:
    http://www.cdbaby.com/m/cd/bobbyread2

Doug is a producer and plays in a few projects. It’s been a few months since I checked on him although I still gotta send him a poster as he is the only signature I’m missing on it, I might add a questionnaire too.

I miss these guys playing with Bruce…the sound and songs are definitely not the same with out them. Maybe there will be a reunion someday.

I’m gonna have to pick that vinyl up…I’m sure it’s a major upgrade from the original release.

I’d say it all started when Bobby Hi-Test needed a Octane Kid to play keys.

    Man that sucks!
Never got a chance to meet the king of the board but I always thought it would’ve been pretty cool to have ran into him at a Bruce show.
    RIP DD

Try contacting them…they just redid their site as theyre just focusing on Allman Bros Band for some reason, but they might still have access to the Bruce vault. Good luck though because they’re horrible with customer service.

Stiil here, only watching FB to see where people might be. I’d add the 7/29/02 Wolftrap (making a very cool one note intro theme) and the 11/22/04 Eugene (also showing my Harbor Lights faves). 7/21/02 Kalamazoo and 12/6/04 Madison both open up with Place Under the Sun (So much livelier than the studio version, but you need a prompter to recall all the lyrics). I edited my munckmusic library so I can’t rank all the shows (but I’ll always know “pantsy faints as fair” from SLC among Bruce’s many lyrical slips in Dead covers), I don’t know if Bruce will show up at the Pre-Jam, but we’re almost to Warren Haynes Xmas charity event again, and it will be streamed live 12-11-15 on WNCW.org from the Orange Peel in Asheville without you standing in a crowd of 2,000 packed on the floor. Rebroadcast on New Years Eve in case you nod off before the end (I generally sleep listen since It probably goes well past 1AM and I’m not clever enough to have a recording solution) Oh, I see Si has a link on the homepage (darn you little netbook monitor, how does anyone survive on a smartphone) …but I expected the show started at 8-9PM, and the Peel doesn’t even list the show on the calendar since tickets are distributed to the most generous donors to WNCW (and perhaps Habitat)

Hey man how’s it going good to see you still swing by here too.
Great choices! I was trying to remember shows off the top of my head but yeah I forgot about Wolf Trap and that Eugene has a stellar Harbor Lights love that one too.
Thanks for the heads up on the stream.

What are sbd releases? Would love to get my hands on more shows from that time period as well. Specifically 2004 and 2005 I think had some of the best shows imaginable.

    The soundboard releases from http://www.brucehornsbylive.com/catalog.aspx
    And
    https://www.munckmusic.com/wms/hornsby/index.html
For me 2002 was top notch a lot of magic happened especially with RS.

Oh wow! I hadn’t come across that munckmusic link before. I have all the shows from Bruce Hornsby Live.

Do you know who owns munckmusic? Is it officially affiliated with Bruce? Definitely going to start buying some shows. Any recommendations? Are they all soundboard quality?

My personal favorites and recommendations are:
    7/20/05 HOB
    7/25/02 Cohasset
    7/24/02 Westbury
    11/5/04 Orpheum
    8/9/08 Buffalo
The set lists are great along with some stellar playing. Check them out.

Yeah the guitarless/Henry years are the recordings I listen to the least these days.
Don’t get me wrong there are some absolutely awesome recordings from 93-95 but yeah I didn’t like Henry’s belting vocals. Bruce’s voice is too good to need a backup singer.
I love those early 90’s late era Range years of 90-92 but those recordings are rare. I have a few somewhere but they are few and in between especially ’92 I only have a couple of those somewhere in my mess of cd’s.

Love the days of Bruce “All Request Sets”… he did them all the time back then. ” If you dont’ like it, suck it up because you picked it” – A standard Bruce line

Yes…that is what put him above any other musician in my book.

Yes they are all soundboards…hurry up though because they will supposedly be shutting down the Bruce shows as its a small company that mostly focuses on the Allman Brothers Band and will probably let the Bruce site fall by the wayside as they just started a new site for Allman Bros.
This is the reason for the addition of Bruce to livedownloads site because munck was to be focusing mainly on ABB.

Yeah that is a good one.

This is probably my favorite from the 90’s that I attended.

    Two words

    Face Book

I’m still lurking. And love to chat about the Bruce “Golden Years” Which for me are 1980’s-early 2000’s.

Facebook to me is for teenyboppers and bored house wives.
Just can’t do it…did it in ’05 for a minute but then it blew up.

    Yes Bruce 86-05!!!
I love popping in a Range show. The pop sound they had is awesome and it’s so great every time I hear The Old Playground, I get mad that I wasn’t older when that stuff came out. I wish I could’ve seen the Range, you old farts out there are lucky. Bruce had such a different sound and it worked and amazingly he got even better by going the jazzy/jammy route. Unfortunately there is limited recordings of Range stuff so when I do stumble across something new I get pretty damn stoked.

Flash forward to 99-05 these are my favorite years of Bruce. The band was tight and the jams were loose. The set list were great and he played a lot of great material that has since been shelved ex: Passing Through, Harbor Lights, and Sunlight Moon.
Also, the stuff that was new at that time was really good and he played more requests at this time.
If I had to pick just one single year as my all time fav…it would be 2002…both RS and Steve Kimock guested many shows during ’02 and those shows were magic. The jams were on fire. Again great song choices.
Bruce’s voice just keeps getting better over the years and he can still get it up there pretty high.

Damn I wish I didn’t live so far away. All those shows sound like a blast despite the rain. It’s great to see the catalog open up a bit more. Miss the jazzier sound but it is what it is.
