Thanks for the heads up.
I just wish Bruce would make every show available for purchase like many jambands do these days.
He would make some extra cash and also make the fans extra happy.
I love having shows that I was actually at and be able to relive the jams especially if they are songs I requested.GuinnessGoon
ParticipantI spoke with Bruce a few months ago and he said he plans on doing a solo tour during February and March.
I just hope he plays near me because I really love solo shows. He busts out alot of jams.GuinnessGoon

You still have time to use it…public tix go on sale saturday.Yeah Bruce is the best musical buck bang…you know what I meant.
Hopefully he won’t have a opener so that he’ll jam out for 2 to 3 hours instead of the 90 minute deal he did with Bela.
See ya there!GuinnessGoon
ParticipantI just grabbed front row center for the Carnegie show.
I didn’t want front row left because I am a picture taker and when I am in front of Bruce the whole time I can’t get pics of the rest of the band. So I figured front and center will do this time, especially when Bruce plays the accordion and dulcimer.
Also, I can always wander over to him when he’s at his piano and take some pics.It will be sweet no matter what because I will rock out up front at the stage even if the people behind me will be weaving baskets. There is enough space between front row and the stage where I won’t hear the dreaded yet annoying whine of ‘sit down!’.
So its all good. Even if I have to wait another month and a half when the original show would have been tomorrow.

Had I known that it was just gonna be BH and Bela with Jaimoe, I woulda gone. Oh well.
Apparently it’s been known since 8/6 that Gregg wasn’t gonna be able to make it…was that posted here or at BH’s site and/or FB site? Hope that Allman gets better soon, so don’t take me the wrong way…
From JC’s setlist, it doesn’t look like BH did a longer show anyhoo….

Kinda reminds me of a funny and similar story I witnessed first hand…
…a few years ago when Bob Seger came to town a co-worker of mine was wearing a Seger shirt at work. Another co-worker said something like ‘I never figured you as a Seger fan’. The Seger shirt guy goes ‘hell I’m surprised you even know who he is’ because we are like 30 younger than Seger shirt guy. Then I came in the room because I over heard the conversation and chimed in ‘I love Seger’ and the Seger shirt guy said ‘not as much as I do…I never missed his shows I have seen him everytime he’s rolled through town’. Then I was like ‘what did you think of the show last night’. He was like ‘yeah right I would have known..I’m his biggest fan blah blah’.
It was great to see his face when he hurried up and got on the computer to see that Seger played Cleveland the night before. What was even greater was when I showed him a picture of us with Seger as we met him before the show and got him to take pics and ‘graph some stuff for us.
The next day I gift wrapped a signed album and gave it to Seger’s ‘biggest fan’.
The dude thought I was a little bit ‘cooler’ that day.GuinnessGoon

ParticipantHDbahn wrote:Sorry you would bail on the Fraze, great soundcheck jam by the Flecktones, who opened for 90 minutes before a similar length set of Noisemakers plus 11-man encore. Bruce & Bela did a “‘Banjo’ Rain” (did I see Si use that?) duet.Yeah the Fraze would have been a 4 hour drive for 90 minutes of Bruce…so I changed my mind and sold my tix to a friend and made $50. I get to see Bruce 3 other times this year so I’m good.
Man, I really wish this was just a Bruce and Noisemakers tour 😥Flecktones are ok but I’d rather just have 2 – 3 hours of Bruce.
Some of the Flecks stuff just sounds like noodling sleepy unstructured jams.
As we left during Bela’s set along with a bunch of other people…I over heard some dude comment ‘were those supposed to be songs?’….I laughed because my buddy that doesn’t know the Flecks kept saying the same thing during the first couple songs. All in all the show with both bands is great, but I think the Flecktones should just do their thing for like 30 minutes as a warm-up for Bruce and then have their cameos during Bruce’s set and call it a day as more Bruce fans were there and a lot of people left after his set.

ParticipantYo T,
I forgot to mention the best part of ‘I am hettier than thou’ drunk guy…he actually tried to hand Chuck Keith a request of ‘Every Little Kiss’ with a $20 attatched to it. His face was priceless. You’re right tho man, these cats that claim to be such fans should know how Bruce is and what not. How many times has he said he won’t do ‘ELK’ because it didn’t evolve well with his style.
Some time anybody on this board wants to be instantly annoyed go on ticketmaster or livenation and look up Bruce Hornsby and check out the reviews.
People give him 1 star because he doesn’t play his ‘hits’ after they go on some rant about being ‘hardcore fans’ if they were so ‘hardcore’ they would have realized 15 years ago that he didn’t revolve his show around his ‘hits’.T the best part about getting ‘He’s Gone’ I yelled out ‘Rat in the drain ditch!’ and he looked over smiling and instantly went right into it. Good stuff mang!
Although I didn’t get my Resting Place, Lost in the Snow, or Invisible, but I got my other four so 4/7 is still great!

ParticipantThanks for putting up the setlist.
I had 3rd row for this but decided to sell my tix.
The guy that bought them just whined to me about how short this show was which was 3 hours of music between 2 bands…yeah that is short for a show with two bands…hell Phish plays longer than that alone…right TAlthough, I am kinda glad now that I didn’t take the 4 hour trip down south for what to me is a short decent setlist…but any Bruce show is better than not being at a Bruce show…but the snob I am I probably would have left teased and unsatisfied :ugeek:
Its all good because I am seeing him in less than 20 hours from this post

ParticipantHey bruuuceboardnewbie I applaud your enthusiasm and positive vibe of the Flecktones and claim of love for Bruce and welcome you to the bruuuce board. You picked a great thread to bust your Bruuuce cherry with, but you missed the point that I made within this thread. T made a great point/explanation/point again 💡
On a sad note T the Bruce/Bobby shows were the complete opposite which sux because those wooks missed out on some good shite our boy BH does. I never got why those two didn’t alternate openers so that didn’t happen.
T-bird you should still go to the Windsor show because that would be a jam packed nite of some jazzy snazzy jams. If you like jazz you’ll dig Jaimoe’s band I dl’d two of his shows and really dig it. You can find some of his shows on etree.
Also, Gregg Allman is playing with a different band and don’t have that goon Warren Haynes with him wrecking songs with his horrible guitar sound/playing/voice. Allman’s solo band is much more jazzier/bluesier and he changes up many of his ABB tunes and also he plays ‘Im no Angel’ come on you know you miss that song.
You can hear samples from https://www.munckmusic.com/wms/mp3playe … concertID= what the? link doesn’t work shortcut style. Oh well you gotta take my word for it.
I know you said its in a hot-ass field and the price and possibility of it raining and turning the field to a mud pit and possible wookie skinny dip but that show looks interesting and I gotta say I’m jealous that stuff like that don’t come to Cleveland anymore
Just go man and dance in the sweaty field with the wooks that Allman will attract.…but yeah Bela should still be the opener

ParticipantAfter listening to this show its funny how there are a few moments where Bruce makes a comment from something I said.
Like one part you’ll hear him say ‘Im 5 foot three in Cleveland’ thats because I yelled ‘come to Cleveland’ and another part is when he is about to play Mandolin Rain and some goof yells ‘minor key’ and then I yell ‘no way original’ then Bruce makes a comment. Honestly, I sorta don’t like the minor key version because the original is just so good why change it to a slower slightly boring version. I wouldn’t change up a classic like that. This was probably one of my favorite Bruce shows that I ever seen no wait it is the best and my favorite.
The setlist was great he played everything I requested ‘Lost in the Snow’, Invisible, Resting Place, Walk in the Sun, Cartoons and Candy. Also the band was on FIRE and were clearly having a BALL.
The only downside was that it was like a 90 minute show if I remember and having to drive 3 hours to D-town for that short of a gig sorta was a rip but like I said this show was stella!
Plus I slayed the black jack tables….ohhh! It sucks its not a free download but its worth the jing especially if you were there….fo sho

T that request photo sounds pretty funny. Bruce should have put it up on one of his collages.
Treasure Island: Small world, man…the better half’s parents retired from the Woodstock, NY school system to live in TI; she followed them after finishing univ.

5 hours to see Phish: Better you than me, G! 😆

I’m riding the bus again all the way from Texas to Biltmore..ain’t the happiest of rides, but to see Bruce play what ever he plays it worth it.I saw him in 95 or 96 play a solo show with Bela and they shared the stage…was a fun night…they each played some of their songs…together, some solo. So I’m sure even now they will share the stage and play some apart. So I don’t think it will be a show to miss.
But hey to each their own…I’m looking forward to what ever the night holds!
Monica
I hear ya. Most openers play only a little over an hour and the closer usually gets about 2 hours when co-billed in this kind of situation. Yeah they each will come out for a song or two in each others sets.
The point I was trying to make is that Bela’s music can put you to sleep if you’re not into what he does as it is 90% instrumentals as Bruce’s music can be explosive with funky stankin grooves and can end the concert on a high note. Two different styles of music which do need a correct order based on style of music and the size of fanbase. I seen it when Bob Weir and Ratdog opened for Black Crowes….most went there for Bob Weir and when his band was done so were the fans. A large amount of the crowd left before the Black Crowes came out. Im not saying people would leave for Bela Im just pointing out it makes more sense to have Bruce close the show on a high note with his style of music compared to Bela’s bluegrass instrumentals, but yeah to each their own.
