ParticipantI can always hear Benny Hill in my head saying “Dat’s a bloomin’ tall performing arts center!”

ParticipantOh, the joy of stale secondhand smoke in a casino! I can add this to my Noisemakers resume from Milwaukee, Tampa, Las Vegas, and Reno. The Cherokee museum has a Civil War mailbag from Thomas’ Legion, to which a couple of my ancestors belonged, David, so it is fitting that we rejoin the fire there…Jon T

ParticipantI second that emotion, even if the equestrian arts and synchronized sports are water polo to me!

ParticipantYou must have been the only real Noisemaker fan there, since I asked about half a dozen people what song he opened with (while I was trapped in the shuttle that I stood 90 minutes waiting for at Lot D-and missing the Sam Bush Band) and no-one knew the name. After the show I asked Wayne and he said HE missed it too! When the sound man can’t get to work it is a F’d up festival. My first, worst and last Floydfest. I left Richmond at 6:30 AM so I congratulate you on your journey.

ParticipantRe: 7/28/12 Getajob.com Pavilion – Glen Allen, VA
I think it’s Snagajob.com (now where have I heard get a job?) Lois Hornsby was at the show and I was thrilled to say hello for one of my childhood neighbors who was her college roommate. This was a great show with an hour of Leftover Salmon opening.

ParticipantSorry, did not intend to blend the horizontal with the vertical-the show begins with Take Out The Trash. BRC>Candy Mtn was an encore. I had emailed Si lists with semi-colons between songs and double semi-colons for encores so imagine how confused he must be…

ParticipantSince he’s obviously not playing some of my favorites (Pastures of Plenty/China Doll/Harbor Lights;Place Under The Sun/No Home Training;Hothouse…)my mind drifts to the injection of cover songs – and I’ll bet the band could conjure up a couple of bars of the Temptations Cloud Nine!
HDbahn
ParticipantActually, Si, I did hear Bruce mention that he had a departed friend named after the song, but I can’t tell you at which show I heard it…so trusting GG it must have been KY!

ParticipantPrairie Dog Town and Defenders Of The Flag. I narrowly missed the latter by a day twice this tour, but caught the former at every show (including actual dogtown 200 yards away at the MN Zoo!)[Oh I forgot how much I hate Big Rock Candy although the end of Candy Mtn Run is a great jam, and this year I’m ready to elevate the original Mandolin Rain to my hate list] Never been a fan of Hooray For Tom or What The Hell Happened, but there’s just so much more I like that was played 2002-2009 but is gone now.

ParticipantI was obviously not listening well to the officiant at the ‘Theater” (that’s how he answered the phone after I spent an hour getting busy signals), since,as I PM’d molo, I thought he said 40 something for my $96.25 (no service charge!) ticket. Nevertheless I love old theaters even though I’d say I’ve been in a few with no more than 1200 seats and tickets more $60ish. I used to like Lexington because I found a place to park a big truck within walking distance of Appleby’s (which always seemed to have the Beatles playing), but I would be glad to buy dinner at a real restaurant if any of ye Scholars decide to pass through.

ParticipantCan I have an OMG? I would venture a guess that a 17-35/36 would be in the right range since I’m about an inch shorter and used to wear 16-34 until I got too fat to wear a tie without going to a 17+. The concept of an homage reminds me of the time I had my sunglasses with me at an inside show and popped them on as he was doing the Roy Orbison tribute in [Circus On The Moon – “In dreams… I walk with you”]

ParticipantI just noticed that the Infamous Stringdusters are playing before the Noisemakers. Although I wasn’t brought up with Bluegrass, I can tell you that these are some of the most bad-ass instrumentalists on the planet with many original hot licks. Very progressive-jam capable on traditional instruments. Also noticed that a Harbor Free transit wristband from motels on the shuttle route is good for 50% off at the zoo and excellent Norfolk Botanical Garden if you like a good walk.

ParticipantLooks like a great time and place (but I guess it was Portsmouth that had the rounder theater I remember from its link last year?), but the BIG thing missing for me is the band! Best thing for me is new Virginia shows, and I could do PA and KY but at the moment…the ArtsQuest site in Bethlehem is spinning away with a server that’s been busy failing for half an hour (which I had to link to from my Bruce email since the ticket link on his site was also dead). Ah, technology, human is your suckiness
In my never ending quest to reside at the half full/half empty center
of the universe I DID get a fourth row seat after most of the section
in front of the stage was sold (four surrounding sections mostly empty)
and am now looking at NO listing on the Celebrate VA and etix pages
for the Fredericksburg show. Well, the schedule just says it’s on sale
Today, and the day ain’t over yet!
Checking on the Iowa show, ce n’est Des Moines et non des plus, mais de rein aussie!HDbahn
ParticipantOMG the swirling vortex of YouTube…you just lead me to Tangled Up In Blue w/Bela and Line In The Dust (or as KFOG labeled it “Lying In The Dust”) from Emeryville in 2000. Thanks

ParticipantGlad you got home with yer spokes intact. I saw the Greenville SC show the next night. 13th Fugue>Sticks & Stones,20/20 Vision>Night on the Town,Big Rock>Candy Mtn Run,End of the Innocence, Valley Road, Who Takes Care of Mom,Wheres my Bat,Low Country,What the Hell Happened, The Way It Is, King OF THE HILL sorry for previous error (he couldn’t get over”hands in the pants at the skin flick” without extra repetition), Mandolin Rain (minor key)…encore Talk of the Town, Standing on the Moon>(tease)Lady w/a Fan ** He sang “…things we’ve never seen seem familiar”(so I stick by Terrapin/LWF, don’t remember Wharf Rat as listed on the Set List) >Halcyon Days. As usual I’m not sure of the order (and I left out a couple shorties per the official set list) and Bruce mentioned that SCK BSTD will run in Philly as “STRNGR” although we voted for the original title. I saw about 7-9 folks show up for the VIP experience but didn’t ask for a review. Extra bonus for me was the Grateful Dead Hour on WNCW (Looks Like Rain, I Know You Rider, Cassidy) on the ride home. This was the oldest crowd I’ve seen for Bruce.

ParticipantAs a former VCR/camcorder/CD and DVD-R machine collector, I followed the transition of video to the digital form with interest and aggravation. I’m still annoyed by motels with flatscreen 16:9 TVs but 4:3 analog cable (especially when I have to use the menu via the set because the motel remotes don’t access it! to un-stretch the signal to its native dimension). HDbahn was an anglotech/German hybrid of best quality for anything, and in my imagination it was a chain of boutique motels free from crappy implementation of technology.

ParticipantI’ve got to go with Little Sadie into White Wheeled Limousine.

ParticipantDang, I forgot Cyclone, which Bruce commented he didn’t know was a town in WV, (like Hurricane), and the Grand Tour into Road Not Taken. Just stick a chip in my head and all will be good. “Call me when they put a phone in my credit card instead of a credit card in my phone” I’d say the ‘clone was played 3rd or 4th – and “Down With That” is trying to rear its head in the synapse garden.

ParticipantYes, I was in B3. I loved that Chautauqua visit (where I was going to walk around the grounds but stopped for the great soundcheck! and met the once everpresent Lizzie). If that was your first, I understand why you were amazed, as I was with my first at Biltmore in 2002 (I shoulda known sooner since I’m only a couple years younger than Bruce!) Hope I’ll meet you down the road, as I am prone to boring total strangers with stories of “destroying the world (or continent, at least)” to see the Noisemakers. I wondered if Wayne Pooley enjoyed his perch at Longwood, I hope they return (and your ladies should love the serenity of the gardens). I also wondered if Bruce saw the music room in the Conservatory with the automated Grand Piano (I’m a sucker for a good lumber exhibit). I can’t believe what you found out about the drawing GG!!! GRRRRRR@#$%&*$#@ on their charity! I heard “We’ll POST the winning ticket”

ParticipantI got redirected to blinkx.com (no back arrow tarpit) at my first board view, don’t ‘member if you have any “approved” redirects, but then I don’t remember much.

ParticipantInteresting that Wayne used the word “softer” as I get more of a a “rock” feel from Moyes. Also, this was the first time I’ve heard the bass drum mixed so loud (but not noisy) and it was well used to puncuate. I’m not sure if there was plastic or sweat mixed with the splinters, but during WWL there were fragments flying and eventually Moyes did a flawless stick grab while tossing the broken one into the curtain behind. Good to meet GGOON and now I know I was sitting next to PAOIL and daughter.

ParticipantGod bless your blabbin’ password since the venue still had the tickets blocked at noon Saturday! (And of course the box office opens Monday). This was perfect timing since I had the WV ticket already. ps the Longwood Gardens stage had a sunken pit for dancing so all us longshadows who like to sit were appeased as well. Enjoyed seeing Si, Kat, Kate, Carey.

ParticipantI’ll say hello and if they still line us up on the sunny side, retreat to the back of the line – if they are selling wine inside I can still outwalk the bottle babies!
HDbahn
ParticipantSorry you would bail on the Fraze, great soundcheck jam by the Flecktones, who opened for 90 minutes before a similar length set of Noisemakers plus 11-man encore. Bruce & Bela did a “‘Banjo’ Rain” (did I see Si use that?) duet.

ParticipantI still smile when I think of the houndstooth slacks he wore at the previous (first?) Potowatomi Casino show – should be required for all such venues.
