ParticipantWill_S wrote:The FLAC option might be worth it as a “future-proof” option, in that in the future you may choose to do your listening on equipment with high enough fidelity to reveal the difference. With “sport” headphones, depending on exactly what that means, I’d be surprised if you can tell much difference especially if the live downloads folks did a decent job on the encoding (MP3 has come a ways since the 128 kbps napster dreck that permanently turned off many folks). And for that matter, your iPod will not be able to play the FLAC’s directly, although it is easy to use a program like Scott Brown’s xAct to transcode them into Apple Lossless (full fidelity) or MP3/AAC (possibly better suited to portable use) to work with your iPod. Shoot me a PM if you need help with that.
Thank you very much for the great info. I just downloaded xAct, and I will try it out as early as tomorrow.
(I do think that the mp3s at Bruce Hornsby Live are of rather high quality, but I’m up for the experiment.)
Thanks again sincerely.

ParticipantI’d be happy if Bruce could dip back into the archives and offer up more ’02 shows. One of the things I love best about the new Belly Up! recording is that “Take Out the Trash” is part of it. (Big Swing Face is to me one of the most underrated albums of all times.)
(As a side note, what was Munck Music thinking when they cut up fifteen-minute medleys into four or five tracks when they issued the ’02 recordings offered there?)

ParticipantOkay, I’m going to do it.
Thank you.Highway_61
ParticipantJust a guess, but there might have been some feedback or an audio dropout, something of that order that Bruce or Dagle felt uncomfortable putting their imprimatur on.

Participant^^ Why would you want to pay someone to have a beer with you?

ParticipantTakavi wrote:The thing that bothers me is how few people show up for BH shows, making me think that this might be some way of making up for lower tix sales over the years.
I will never understand how small the crowds have become and why BH isn’t huge bigger due to his stellar skills/personality/style/awesome songs/killer band/you know what I mean.^^ This how I look at it, as well: It is far better that Bruce is able to pull in some extra cash via the “V.I.P. Experience” than it would be for Bruce to feel compelled to do a Greatest Hits tour, for concerts dominated by greatest hits would be much less interesting/inspiring for all of us and, more importantly, would be soul-deadening anathema for an artist like Bruce.

ParticipantSi,
Thank you very, very much, for solving the mystery, for tracking down the recording, and for making it available to all of us.
Happy 2012,

ParticipantSi,
Thank you.
I’m very far removed from being a saint, but I do everything I can to avoid denying musicians payment for their art–so I guess I’ll pass on this purchase.
Thanks again.Highway_61
ParticipantI purchased tickets for Scottsdale, AZ when the concert was announced, and I just checked the venue site again now, and there’s no mention of the solo CD being a part of the/any ticket purchase. Perhaps, though, they’ll be on sale the evening of the concert.

ParticipantGlad to know all is well.

ParticipantMan, that’s going to be a great show: Fountains of Wayne are guesting that night.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24gtrW4_BAsIt’s an old promotional video for Gonna Be Some Changes Made. Bruce performs it solo with all the known verses to the song.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting that.

ParticipantI thought I go and read some books
Appear to be smart
I thought maybe love would come to me as a patron of the arts
I started quoting Shakespeare on a midsummer’s night shade
The ladies yawned
And I walked on

ParticipantI have to say, though, I still kind of like my US Route 25 idea (see below); but I’m not absolutely certain yet that US25 runs through/near Williamsburg. Si, did you discover that I am totally wrong about that? If not, does anyone here know?

ParticipantGuinnessGoon wrote:Lost in the Snow and Mirror on the WallI too, agree alot of the songs of Big Swing Face have new life when played live.
“Lost in the Snow” is also my choice.
As for Big Swing Face, I am appreciative of every live performance of a song from that album, but, at the same time, I consider Big Swing Face a magical album, a work of real genius.

Participantsi_twining wrote:How didn’t i notice this before? Great stuff! As far as the title, I love the “IV” idea…. how about “Salivate” as a play on “Levitate”?!
Unless anyone can think of a word with “XXV” in it?!
Or “ZS” or something that looks like a 25…?
I guess a double “S” would also work.
Not to offend you, but I would advise against employing the double S (SS )in that it’s still, quite unfortunately, has Nazi connotations.

ParticipantI don’t torrent, so I’m out on the concerts, but I want to thank Derek Davis for the excellent recording of “Continents Drift.”
Truly, man, thank you.
By the way, I sent a note to MunckMix, asking if any concerts from the Levitate Tour would be posted, and the response was that he wasn’t sure, but he would be talking to Wayne soon.
Fingers are crossed.

ParticipantI’ve never been a big fan of the bagpipe, but I can’t keep from thinking every time I hear “Black Rats of London” how cool it would be if, at a concert, all of a sudden you’d hear what would seem like surround sound, but what would be–you would soon realize–bagpipe players marching through the crowd from the back of the hall and toward the stage.

Participant…the vanity license plate of a guy who has a girl with auburn curls stuffed between the spare tire and the jack, perhaps?

It was actually “Space is the Place”.
Although, I believe I hear Sonny’s voice in Prairie Dog Town.[/quote:213dcol6]
Yeah, that was what I was going on. I guess I should have known from Sonny’s “Cosmic Squirrel Rap” that it was “Space is the Place.”
This album is the deal of the century. I preordered it in June for 12.99, and I think I would have paid that for “Black Rats of London.” Man, I am loving that song.

I love the way it has been recorded/engineered, as well. -
