Wish I had known you would be at both shows. Though I ended up doing ok by myself I guess. I had to park in the D lot too, but walked when I saw the line for the shuttle. I ended up hitching a ride with a local lady and made it with about 15 minutes to spare.
The sound went out for a minute or two during Mirror so maybe that’s what Wayne meant as he was def there.
The festival looked like a lot of fun if one were to be there for the full thing. I wish I had had more time to spend there, but I had to get in and out. Hitched a ride with a security guy on the way out, so all worked out well for me. Sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy as much as I did.

Snagajob does sound more accurate! My head’s not on today. At Pizza Hut, I asked the lady what size the large pizza is. True story.

I wonder if closing with Big Rumble was a tribute to a departed friend. Tony “Big Rumble” Merriman was a regular at the Kentucky shows.

I haven’t been on the board too much and didn’t know that Tony was gone. I’m really sorry to hear that. We traded a few times and talked a bunch and he seemed like a great person and a passionate BH fan.

Wow! Just by looking at the set-list, I figured Another Day was a quick segway by Bruce on solo piano, but I was wrong!

This is the first time I’ve heard this done live. Awesome!

Wow, great footage! I’ve sent a msg to the filmer to see if I could get the files to make a dvd of the show.

..thats sounds awesome. I can’t make dvd’s anymore as I used to dl them from torrent sites or receive them in trades but my burner doesn’t cut it anymore as I would love to hook up JF1 with the Saratoga show but can’t.
I still have the Buffalo BH show I went to from 8/1/09 taking up 5 gigs on my pc but could never get my burner to burn it to disc so its just sitting there waiting to get on disc one of these days.

Which Saratoga show are you referring to?

The Jazz Fest dvd is done. I’d be happy to burn a few copies and send them to one person if that person will organize others getting it as well. And Guinness Goon, I’d be happy to send you Buffalo ’09 too.

Send me an email at hornsbytree AT hotmail dot com if you’d like.

    Cool thanks, great story.
Sorta strange people don’t know who Bruce Hornsby is but for some reason know somebody like Ricky Skaggs :?

At Casino Rama it’s a lot of country folk (by that I mean not city folk) and Ricky is more what they’re brought up with. Rama has tons of country artists come through. But yeah, strange still.

    Thanks for the set info.

Thanks! I got Bela’s setlist from the stage tonight so was going to fill in those gaps for tonight’s set. I’ll post that shortly…

Any chance you could snap a quick pic of that set and post it as well?

I’ll do that as soon as I can – probably not for a week or two…

I had a cassette copy of the 4/12/96 show with Lesh & Weir that I’ve practically worn out (and have been unable to digitize).

I’m searching for a new CD copy — and would like to get it so I can spin one for my outgoing boss (who is a Deadhead and trades stuff with me often :) ). Anyone willing to do a small trade.

Was just listening to that today. If you need a cd copy let me know…

I haven’t really been around here much the last few years, but I used to trade heavily in Bruce shows and got to know Tony by email from our trades. I was shocked to find out about his passing. He seemed like the nicest guy in the world. Just hope he’s in a better place…

It’s one of the great things about the internet – people finding these gems and sharing them.

Looks like only the Bruce video will have soundboard sound. Apparently there’s some stuff cut, but it should be most of the set. I’ll post the URL when it’s finished and will happily do some b&p’s for people here.

Yep, we saw someone backstage flash a light at the soundboard guy so we knew Bruce was coming back for another…actually thought he might play for a while but I think he made a quick choice to get off after Resting Place. I’d never heard that solo so it was a nice touch…

I can’t figure what the big deal is about some girl dancing. I didn’t see her bothering people, she wasn’t obstructing anyone’s view. It bothers me more to see people bring their uninterested children who then leave after an hour…
