The “(??”can’t you lie…Moses..”) is likely “Linin’ Track”. That was the typical lead-in to Country Doctor during the solo tour.

The full set list was posted to Bruce’s Facebook account:

    Edits/Additions:
Preacher in the Ring, Part 1 > Webern Variation #2 > Carter Catenaires
End of the Innocence > Song A > Sun Bear Theme (Keith Jarrett)
Life in the Psychotropics > Catenaires
The Charles Ives’ tune is Study [HASHTAG]#22[/HASHTAG]
Gavotte (Schoenberg) was the piece that led into Circus on the Moon
The Ornette Coleman piece in Spider Fingers was Questions & Answers

The intro piece is credited as the traditional song Linin’ Track, but the lyrics are from the Aerosmith remake (Hangman Jury), so I’m sticking with my answer there =)

Hangman Jury (by Aerosmith) was the teased song that led into Country Doctor.
The classical piece in the middle of The Way It Is was Bach’s Goldberg Variation #1.

I’ve searched through my entire collection and every single performance of Sad Moon I have is a solo rendition. Sorry.

Musically, I think “Carry the Water” would probably fit well.

Although I’ve never seen the movie to confirm it, I believe at one point Bruce mentioned it’s a piece from Williamsburg: The Story of a Patriot.

Although he’s only done it once, I think the “Puff the Magic Dragon > White Wheeled Limousine” transition was amazing.

As far as the usual fare goes…Fortunate Son into Comfortably Numb.

Re: 08/26/2011 Summer Wind Performing Arts Center – Windsor,

I don’t know what the original intended length of sets was supposed to be but how it ended up was:

    Opener: 1 hour
Bela Fleck & Flecktones: ~1 hour 15 minutes
Bruce Hornsby & Noisemakers: ~1 hour 30 minutes

While we’re on the subject on rarities, right now on eBay for auction are the Japanese releases of Levitate and Harbor Lights, which contain the bonus tracks “Too Much Monkey Business” (Chuck Berry cover) and “Solid Ground”, respectively. To the best of my knowledge, these tracks can’t be obtained anywhere else, so for the collector, here’s your chance.

The links to the auctions (not mine) are:
    http://tinyurl.com/43p26ca (Levitate)
    http://tinyurl.com/43cs5jn (Harbor Lights)

Edit: I just noticed that the auction for Levitate ends in an hour, so…

I’m slowly working my way through actually listening to all the live stuff I have.

The full band version can also be found on the US pressing of the CD that has the alternate artwork.

It’ll occasionally pop up for sale on eBay. That’s where I scored my copy a couple of years back.

Longest Night was played a couple times during the 1998 and 1999 tours (11/8/98; 3/26/99; 3/28/99; and 5/11/99). I’m not sure if it’s been played since.

Listen to the Silence, on the other hand, doesn’t appear to have ever been played live.

This video should be of some interest:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24gtrW4_BAs

It’s an old promotional video for Gonna Be Some Changes Made. Bruce performs it solo with all the known verses to the song.

Another “missing”, and even rarer verse is this one (going from memory here, so it may not be exact):

It’s just that style I kind have got
We’re so pleased to welcome you
Now that you’re here with us today
Would you play on this kazoo?
I said, “All right, okay” as if I was afraid
I walked out in a daze
There’s gonna be some changes made

And just to nitpick, I think it’s “I tried spouting Shakespeare upon a midsummer’s night shade.”

The two songs between Harbor Lights and Resting Place were Michael Raphael and Here We Are Again.

Another brief addition: one of Bach’s Goldberg Variations (90% sure it was #2) was played during the sampled drum intro of Gonna Be Some Changes Made.

I tried that with Heartbreak Town at a couple shows in 2001. Didn’t work, listen to the comments during the 8/24/01 tape.

Not to derail the thread, but Will, could you perhaps fill in the blanks on the lyrics to Heartbreak Town for me if you still remember them?

    Shot down, sold out
    Cast away on the

    tumbled up, give up
i don’t want to face it out there alone

don’t try to comfort me, take me where they let you be

just carry me, carry me down
carry me down to heartbreak town
just carry me, carry me down
carry me down to heartbreak town

    black sky, dead eye
wandering down where the fire glows
    hard knocks, tear drops
hiding out where the sun don’t show

come take me by the hand, down to where they understand

just carry me, carry me down
carry me down to heartbreak town
just carry me, carry me down
carry me down to heartbreak town

    carry me, carry me down
carry me down to heartbreak town

been up all night, stairing out the skyline lights
turning over and all i remember, i never was right

    carry me, carry me down
carry me down to heartbreak town
