ParticipantAgreed. I think message boards are better organizationally for this type of thing than Facebook. But seems like Facebook is the way this thing naturally went.
JF1
ParticipantGreat stuff Si, nice work! My only critique for the board would be to create some color distinction between quoted posts. It’s tough to distinguish who said what when there are a bunch of quoted posts.

ParticipantMunckmusic.com still works but the link GuinnessGoon posted above to the specific Bruce Hornsby page is broken.
I sent them an email, but I also tried to get creative and am currently accessing the site through the way back machine. The site appears to be functional; I might try and purchase a show for the heck of it and see if it actually works. I’ll report back!

ParticipantYou’ve got to be kidding me! I just went to that Munckmusic.com link to treat myself to some shows and the link is now broken. Noooo!

I’m hoping for more sbd releases from ’00-’05…my favorite years.Still around!
What are sbd releases? Would love to get my hands on more shows from that time period as well. Specifically 2004 and 2005 I think had some of the best shows imaginable.
The soundboard releases from http://www.brucehornsbylive.com/catalog.aspx
And
https://www.munckmusic.com/wms/hornsby/index.html
For me 2002 was top notch a lot of magic happened especially with RS.Oh wow! I hadn’t come across that munckmusic link before. I have all the shows from Bruce Hornsby Live.
Do you know who owns munckmusic? Is it officially affiliated with Bruce? Definitely going to start buying some shows. Any recommendations? Are they all soundboard quality?

Participant^ Great setlist.
Are these outdoor venues that you’re hearing the soundcheck? If they’re indoor venues, do you just show up really early and the theater lets you in without any trouble?
And all those requests you’re going to ask for in Wilmington would be awesome. I got the sense Bruce really wanted to play Line In The Dust. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re ready to do that one now.

I still cannot believe he didn’t do. ” The Way It is”, Mandolin Rain, End of Innocence, Valley Road, Show Goes on Etc!. First time I’ve ever seen him do that. Which I think he really enjoyed!Ha! I loved that he didn’t play any of them.
How about this tweet:

When you have 2 hits in your life , it’s a good idea to play at least one of them when you have a concert @brucehornsbyJF1

07/16/2013 Mesa Theater – Grand Junction, CO – I see the encore was Love Me Still, WWL. Wanna hear that!
03/02/2012 Smothers Theatre – Malibu, CA (Solo show) – Was at this show. But in particular want to hear “Love me still” I don’t recall Bruce playing it, but it’s in the set-list.
05/12/2007 Anniverary Park – Jamestown, VA (Hornsby/Skaggs) – Love Me Still is played here.
So I guess the theme was trying to get a band version of Love Me Still haha.

ParticipantThat’s funny, so they came back out after the first encore? Seemed like they were finished. Even after Bruce was making fun of the whole rituals thing. I bet they had to come off stage for the yahoo broadcast to end. And then came back out for one more.

ParticipantStream was phenomenal. Great quality!
However, the stream started for me at Country Doctor. I thought this was the first song they played, but I just saw someone posted Jack Straw on youtube from last night, which I didn’t see them play. I watched the whole show from start to finish. Could they have opened with Jack Straw, but the stream didn’t start till after?

ParticipantWow! This is awesome, thanks for giving us a heads up!
JF1
ParticipantThanks for posting! Glad you enjoyed the show. Would love to get my hands on a recording.

ParticipantFirst show kicks off tomorrow in Williamsburg, VA! Really hoping some video and the set-list surface. Maybe even a show recording if were lucky!
JF1
ParticipantNot that I under appreciated Bobby, but since his departure it’s become even more apparent how vital he was to this band. Virtually every song benefited from the ewi or sax. And so many songs feel so empty without it – Great Divide, What a Time, Rainbow’s Cadillac, WWL, etc, etc. But obviously that’s done by design and a change in the bands sound that Bruce wants – otherwise the changes wouldn’t have been made.
Last summer was such a small sample of shows, plus with the learning curve from the news guys, it felt like we didn’t get a true sense of the new band’s sound. With nearly 20 shows this summer (hopefully even a few more) I feel like we’ll get a pretty good idea of the direction this band is heading. I’m definitely excited to hear it, but will definitely miss Bobby and Doug.

I’m still seeing sold out both on BruceHornsby.com and on the venue’s site.

ParticipantSo far the following dates have been announced. The release says, “We’ll be announcing many more dates in the coming weeks. Stay tuned…”
I wonder what “many more” dates means. 20+ shows, that would be amazing. I’d guess we end up with 15-18 though. Fingers crossed!

ParticipantHey Si, when you have a minute could you expand upon the Richards/Baker/Bonaparte transitions, just in this thread, doesn’t have to be in that article (which is awesome btw, thanks for that!).
So Richards played with the band for only a few months? Did he leave on his own, did Bruce want someone else?
And then Baker was on for basically only one tour? Is that true?
And then Bonaparte is there for about 3 years? Why did he leave? Again was it Bruce’s choice or Bonny’s?
I’ve always been interested in this timeline.
JF1
ParticipantThanks for the podcast Si! Always love listening to them.
I missed this thread, I would have had a bunch of questions. The only thing I wish you asked him was his evaluations on the new Noisemakers and just general talk on that.
JF1
ParticipantSo how was it just hearing piano and drums without any other instrument?
JF1
ParticipantSo the Bruce and Sonny tunes were literally just Bruce on Piano and Sonny on drums (Or Dulcimer/Washboard) with no other musicians playing with them?
JF1
ParticipantI don’t understand. The songs that are not on Dulcimer, is Bruce playing with Sonny on drums and the rest of the Matheny band? I was under the impression it was solely Bruce on Dulcimer and Sonny on washboard. Guess not?
July 1, 2014 at 4:58 am in reply to: Setlist for 6/28/14 Ashland, KY at the Paramount Arts Theater #34138JF1
ParticipantHow was Red Plains? Was Holmes on fiddle or mandolin? I’m assuming the latter?
JF1
ParticipantGreat to hear about everyone liking the new arrangement. I’m really disappointed to not be making a Noisemakers show this summer. I tried my best to get to the Pittsburgh show, but with the length of the drive and timing, it just wasn’t possible for me to do this summer.
I’ll have to rely on audio and video recordings! Hopefully a lot start to surface.
