ParticipantI love that Bruce keeps giving away these compilations. This is another cracker!
I too would like to see more of the full concerts, but I do understand why Bruce is reluctant to release some of them, if the performances or the technical quality of recordings doesn’t meet his standards. In one way this does us a favour, because we know that whenever we purchase a concert that is released, we are getting top quality. And I suppose for us die hard fans that buy most, if not all the releases, we’re certain to be getting value for money.
I hope we’ll see some of the 2011 shows soon.

ParticipantWhilst there is nothing particularly wrong with the current website, if a new site were to be like the recent DDD website, it would be fantastic. That has a fresh, crisp feel to it, and with the integration to social networks it allowed people to get involved without the need to sign up separately. Can’t say I feel any need to choose my own colour scheme, but if you want to add the option because you know how to and will enjoy implementing it, then go for it. Maybe we can all have some fun trying to come up with the worst combination of colours!

ParticipantListening again this evening, I’ve found that the version of Resting Place is the one which was included in the free Noisemakers Summer 2007 release given as a Christmas gift to supporters of the Bruce Hornsby Live website.

ParticipantFrom what I’ve listened to so far (two thirds), they’re all different. A couple have sounded similar in the opening few bars, but turn out to be different as far as I can tell. It’s all good though!

ParticipantHead over to Amazon.com where you can preview the whole album in the Bruce Hornsby store page.

ParticipantDuring Daily Dose Day 4, Si gave out a recording of Barren Ground from October 22nd 2004. I’m sure if you ask nicely he’ll put it up again. According to Bruce Base, Barren Ground was also performed on August 24th 2005 and July 21st 2006, but whether recordings of either of these are available, I don’t know.
As for White-Wheeled Limousine, it isn’t shown in Bruce Base after 2008.

Yes…off the top of my head and not consulting any lists, Portland Zoo ’05! Next!

And what a cracking concert it is! Available in all its glory from BH Live.

After reading MVF’s reference to it as a separate song, I found this on YouTube for anyone else who wanted to hear those lyrics again… Kind of a fun tune. It never ceases to amaze me how Bruce takes me to musical and cultural places I wouldn’t otherwise visit – I can’t say that I would have stumbled on a 104 year old “hobo fantasy” song on my one!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqowmHgxVJQ

Not heard the original before, but like it when Bruce sings it as an intro. I’m always amazed at these things he just seems to know!

ParticipantI’m sure Bruce mentioned in an interview some time ago that the musical is called “Sick Bastard” so when seeing SCKBSTD I immediately knew what it meant, although I read it more as txt spk than the US style of licence plate. Interesting that you thought of “Paperboy” being from the musical. I hadn’t considered this, but it would fit right in. That’s one strange, but brilliant song for sure!

ParticipantI’m listening again for what must be the 10th time and “Simple Prayer” is really starting to stand out for me. I love the piano at the beginning and all the way through – it’s a sound we’ve heard on his jazz album, but not in his mainstream work and it sounds brilliant.
I know the stream is set up in such a way as to prevent it, but I’d love to get a download so I can listen to this on my phone too. Guess I’ll have to wait for the CD to have my portable listening.
Speaking of the CD, and Si you may know this, is the album getting an official UK release? Amazon UK only show it as an import at a hefty £15.19. I could quite easily buy from Amazon US but I’d prefer to purchase a UK version to show that it’s being bought here.

And I agree, the guitar solo is wonderful – very much the RS we loved to hear in the live shows. It stands out on its own, but there’s a feeling of sadness to think he is no longer with us. What a legacy to leave behind though. Nice one, RS.

ParticipantThank you, thank you! How great that we can listen to the whole album over a month before it is released. I’m loving it.

ParticipantI’ve never had any problems with the Munck downloads, but I have sent emails asking if some missing and broken cover art files could be fixed and never had a response, despite the customer service page saying a reply would be sent within a couple of days. Disappointing considering I’ve spent about $300 on downloads.
It would also be nice if the files could be labelled in a uniform manner with correct song titles. Some of the concerts I’ve downloaded have been missing information from the files, like artist names and album details. And sometimes different information is missing from files within the same concert meaning that when I add them to my WinAmp library I end up with them scattered around and have to edit the tags to get them all into one place.
Still, it’s better to have the downloads and have to fix the file tags than not have the downloads at all!

ParticipantI hope this film gets a release in the UK.
I’ll go and see it if only to show my approval for the soundtrack and Bruce’s cameo!
Jonathan
ParticipantI liked the sound of this little project when it was first announced, but I must confess I am struggling to see a picture in my head that I could go out and shoot with my camera. Maybe I need to be listening to Bruce when I’m out and about with camera in hand.

ParticipantWoohoo! Looks like a summer trip to the US might be on the cards. Pity my Chattanooga friend now lives in California.

ParticipantHad I not been in the car with my seatbelt on when I heard “Deadly Alancoat” announcing tomorrow night’s line up for Radio 2, I’d have fallen out of my chair upon hearing that Bruce was presenting a documentary.
Does anyone know if this is a new documentary made by the BBC or is it something which has been aired before over in the States?
*Edit* I see the BBC have spelt his name wrong – Hornby instead of Hornsby. I’ll bet that was someone’s spellchecker.

ParticipantI just got online and, as I do most days, went to look at Facebook. When I saw that there was an update on the official Bruce page I thought it might be news of some new tour dates. I certainly wasn’t expecting this. I am deeply shocked and saddened, and my heartfelt condolences go to all of the Hornsby family and friends.

ParticipantI got this show from bt.etree.org a while back. I have re-opened the torrent but the tracker seems to be dead. If I knew how to re-seed, I would. Maybe someone can help?

ParticipantSeems kind of (kinda [

ParticipantNice one!

ParticipantNice one, Dave! A great little adventure. So sorry that you didn’t get to see The Noisemakers, but you seemed to have a fun time anyway. Hopefully it will be worth the extra wait when you do get to see them perform.
Loved the report on the storm damage. Shock! Horror! A traffic cone blown over. And, oh no! Look at that picket fence. Torn from the ground as though it wasn’t fastened to anything! — I can understand the concerns after what happened in New Orleans, but when the expected tempest turns out to not even be a bluster, it does make it all seem a little bit comical.
Thanks for sharing.
Oh, and as you love the opening to The Show Goes On, may I recommend re-visiting the “Shadow Hands” project and listening to the variations by Patrick Alfers. Incredible stuff.
