It’s not the quantity………it’s the quality.

in reply to: Aaaauuuuugggh! It’s stuck in my head! #28953

Nuh-huh. Too graphic, gory, and embarassing! 😳

in reply to: CNN interview #29217

Will, I love you!!! I try to collect all the “print” I can about BH (reference the “stalking” post), and I NEVER would have come across this one. Do you know when the interview was done (probably the date is in the article, but this way, I can force at least ONE person to answer one of my posts!)? 8)

in reply to: Bruce To (Possibly) Appear On Fats Domino Tribute Album #28936

Now if you’ll just tell me it was ALL recorded at the House of Blues in N’awlin’s, I could die a happy woman.

in reply to: Stalking Bruce ;)! #29093

Okay, first of all I own the title of Bruce Stalker.

If in doubt, reference any of the Biltmo’ shows, or any show within 200 miles of Hooterville, NC. Or ask me about the time his mom called me AT HOME at 7:00 in the morning to tell me she was helping to sponsor me to attend the Williamsburg Teacher’s Institute. Or ask me about having lunch with at the Blue Talon, then attending the opening of “Macbeth” at the Virginia Shakespeare Festival with the same aforementioned mom. OR let me tell you about meeting Bruce backstage after EVERY concert (no, not like Superfreak. Darn it) except W&M Hall in 89-90, and the Portsmouth show that almost blew everybody off the stage. Even met Jon after the show in Richmond, and felt honored to be able to tell him in person how much the lyrics to “Mandolin Rain” mean to me. Or ask me about my T-shirt that reads “Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers Road Crew…no, I can’t get you backstage; no, I can’t turnthe sound down; and no, I don’t know where the bathrooms are” (and this was one of the old ones, not those newfangled ones you can get on the website). Oh, and items that I currently own, signed by BH and the NM: a teddy bear’s T-shirt (with Teddy Bear inside), the CD insert(s) from Halcyon Days forward (even RS and Bobby at the Biltmo”), my coveted hat with BH and Ricky Skaggs signatures, a BH & RS poster signed by the gentlemen themselves, plus the rest of “Kentucky Thunder” that was supposed to be a present for DPD, but it didn’t survive the wreck (sorry!), AND the promo postcards from Big Swing Face on, signed by BR. Oh, and a picture of me, BH, and DPD.
    now THAT’S stalkin’ done right!!!!

….now, what was the question????? Oh, yeah, what should David have done????? He should have gotten down on his knees, crawled over to Bruce, kissed his feet, and AGAIN asked forgiveness for the Greenville, SC show!!!!!! At least, if I had been there, holding the leash, that’s what he would have done!!!!

in reply to: request collage #27287

Hey, where’s my basketball-wearing Teddy Bear from the Charlotte concert with the necktag that read “Please let Teresa dance on stage”? I know he saw it, because he read it out loud on stage, and after the concert, even asked me if the Bear had been mine 😆

I won’t even ASK about the status of my request for “Down the Road Tonight”, made circa 1989-1990 at William & Mary Hall. Betch THAT one didn’t get laminated!!!!

Had they even invented laminating back then??? Or (you veteran teachers will know this) did we just run purple copies on the old Riso machine, then cover them with clear Contact paper 🙄

MAN, is it good to be back home where I belong!!!!!!

in reply to: Aaaauuuuugggh! It’s stuck in my head! #28951

    Hey, boys,
The sheriff’s back in town. Send me a personal post if you really want all the gory details.

in reply to: Bruce in Raleigh, NC (7/13/07) #28749

    Vic,
I guess that’s why you never answered when I kept yelling “Hey Vic” over the crowd.

Sorry about not posting in a while. I’m in the middle of changing schools (going to a Charter school to teach Kindergarten). AND I had minor exploratory surgery a week or so back, so I haven’t been online in a loooong time.

I taped the show at home. I was in the best possible place to watch Bruce, but apparently I was invisible to the cameras….despite the fact that I was wearing a bright blue tie dye dress and my MVF hat. By the way, Si. I have bruuuce.com printed on the back of the hat. Just tryin’ to do my part for the site!!!!! 😆

in reply to: Boone, NC/Appalachian State University Show! #28171

    David,
Is the offer of a room still good????? I’ll bring you a poster of Bruce and Ricky in Raleigh!!!
Where is this Cafe Portofino, anyway. And what time do you want to meet?????

in reply to: Who’s in NC on Friday?! #28985

I was there! Where was everybody else??????? I even had my “Miss Virginia Former” hat on (which was signed by Bruce AND Ricky……..Also tossed Bruce a basketball with a request for NOTT.

in reply to: Bruce in Raleigh, NC (7/13/07) #28747

Well, Vic, I’ll just have to be the official “holder” of somethng else. 🙄

in reply to: Biltmore Show! #28382

Okay, I finally figured out why Bruce isn’t playing the Biltmo’ this year. It’s because all the stellar acts signed up to play outshine him so in talent!!!! 8) Here’s the line-up:
    Aug. 1 – Chicago
    Aug. 3 – Kenny Rogers
Aug. 4 – The B-52s (remember ‘Rock Lobster”???)
Aug. 10 – Chris Isaak (how would you like to see him jam with BH?)
Aug. 11 – Clay Aiken with the Asheville Symphony (well, I’m not a native North Carolinian)

I mean, with acts like these (no offense if there are some true fans out there—I myself cut my musical teeth on early Chicago), how could Bruce compete??????????

in reply to: J.V. appreciation! #28915

    Confession time!!!

For the longest time, I thought Bruce’s bass player was named “Poppy Alexander”, and that there was another one named “Toby” (wasn’t until ‘Roots’ was recently re-released that I ‘got’ that one). Ah, to be so young and naive again……….

in reply to: Bruce in Raleigh, NC (7/13/07) #28745

    DAVID!!!!!!

NOW you’ve just gone and ruined everything!!! I had this idea where we were all going to wear shirts printed with our song requests, so that when Bruce called for requests to be put on the stage, we could all just hop on up.

    Oh well.

On the EXTREMELY bright side, it looks like it may just be me and Victor there…..together…….handling balls!!

I had lunch with his mom and got to hear “when Bruce and Bobby and Jon were growing up” stories…..but I’m being paid WELL to keep quiet. 8) Just DON”T ask her about the twins!!

I have met Bruce backstage at most of his concerts. You’re right. All it takes is the balls to say “hello”.

    By the way…..
Our school has just installed a program on all our computers that won’t let you view “questionable” pages. This was one of them, I guess because it said “balls”. I had to wait to get home to read it. Just hope I don’t need to place a school order for playground BALLS anytime soon…….

in reply to: All new forum! #28858

Vic and David and Treah and Lola and China Doll, and etc, etc,

I’M still planning on going to Raleigh.

Sorry no new posts lately, BUT:

    — it’s the end of the school year, so I’ve been swamped with testing, assessments, report cards, etc. (yes, even in second grade) 🙄 AND

    — I have finally gotten fed up with the FUBAR of public school badly enough that I am leaving it in favor of the less-stress/less pay of quasi-public school (charter school) and will be teaching kindergarten come this fall :D SO

    — I have been having to pack up twelve years’ worth of cr*p from my old classroom to take over to my new classroom, so, :? OF COURSE

    — in having an IV put in my hand for an extremely minor test, the (little, bitty, baby) nurse had to go fishing for a vein, resulting in a massive hematoma on the back of my right (typing) hand, 😥 THEREFORE

    — it’s taken me three days just to get this much typed out (pant, pant), :? NOT

    — that I’m looking for sympathy or anything……… 😉 😉 😉

    So, what’s new with ya’ll?????

in reply to: Bruce in Raleigh, NC (7/13/07) #28738

    Hey, wild thought here….
What if all the “forum fanatics” got T-shirts, with maybe Bruuuce.com, or our forum names, or something. Then we can PROVE we were there, because, of course, Vic and I will be right up front at the stage muzzling David and we’ll be seen on NATIONAL TV!!!!!!!!!

in reply to: Can you explain these lyrics? Part 2 #28729

    Here’s my take….

“Opie Cunnigham” asked Bruce to write a song for the movie “Backdraft”. TSGO was it. I see it as a woman left behind as her man goes out on a dangerous task (firefighting, Viet Nam, Iraq). The “sad-eyed sisters” I see as her comrades-in-arms who are also waiting for their guys to come home. The “man in the long coat, with his long list of victims” is the chaplain/officer/whoever who comes to deliver the news that her man is dead. The sad-eyed sisters feel bad because they’re relieved it wasn’t them…….. this time (sad-eyed sisters go walking on along). “The curtain falls down” on her life, but, as we know, “The Show Goes On…..”

Perhaps my thoughts are a bit jaded, though. My father was in Viet Nam, and we lived in Navy Housing in Virginia Beach (Oceana Naval Air Station). I can never forget the panic that would hit the neighborhood when the Navy Chaplain’s car drove through. Everybody prayed he’d stop before he got to your house, or that he would drive on by. When he did stop in front of a house, all the other families would go back into their houses, and “let the curtains fall down” so as to give that family a chance to receive the news without an audience. But every one of those families were on their knees praying thanks that it wasn’t their man. Thankfully, my dad came back in one piece….at least physically.

in reply to: Bruce in Raleigh, NC (7/13/07) #28735

Oh, come on……. I KNOW all us Bruceheads can make a decent showing there. I’m only 70 miles and 50 minutes away (don’t do the math). And that early in the morning, you’ll beat the morning rush!!!!!

    Count me in!!!!!

in reply to: Boone, NC/Appalachian State University Show! #28168

Why, thank you, David. You know, I’ve always relied upon the kindess of strangers……. We’ll have to see who else will be staying in the hotel, and do a little meet-up on the side (perhaps room 714? Oh, I’ll be waiting). I’m still looking for someone who would like to carpool (bless her little kinky heart). I’m at exit 140 on 40/85 (come on back now, hon). Seems a shame to drive all that way alone (poor little ole thang) when I KNOW there are some FANatics in Raleigh/Chapel Hill/Durham.

By the way, I’m thinking of changing my “handle”. Any thoughts or ideas…….?

in reply to: Boone, NC/Appalachian State University Show! #28165

    Calling all rich people :D

I have my cheap-seats ticket for the Boone show. Due to some recent financial setbacks, I am looking for some to possibly carpool with to the Boone show. I live in Gibsonville, NC (just east of Greensboro) and could meet someone part way.

ALSO, Not that I sleep around, or anything 8), but does anyone who is staying overnight in Boone after the show have an extra couch, cot, softly carpeted floor available to rent for the night cheap??? I promise that I don’t snore, sleepwalk, etc.

    Thanks!!

    in reply to: Jamestown #28663

Thank you!! I also would have given several body parts to have been there — what with being a Bruce fanatic AND a history buff. But my only baby graduated from NC State on the same day. PLEASE post anything you can! :D

in reply to: Biltmore Show! #28380

    Hey China Doll,
You don’t even begin to have what DPD needs. Remember, age and treachery will overcome youth and skill………..

in reply to: Biltmore Show! #28375

Which one(s) do you want…Prozac, Zoloft, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Lithium…(it’s been a bad year…) 😥

in reply to: Greensboro, NC/Guilford College Show! #28354

Welcome, oh kindred spirit! Jackie and I welcome new Bruuuce FANatics in the Piedmont. Checked your profile; boy are you secretive! :( Mind sharing a few intimate (okay, not THAT intimate) details about HamSalad2?
