ParticipantGreensboro would be fantastic, since I live 10 minutes away. AND I’ll be out of school for the summer. If I start now, I MAY just have enough time to plan the shindigs of all shindigs for the pre-concert.
BUT……
This does NOT excuse Bruce from doing the Biltmo Show. I gotta have that fix every summer before I head back to munchkinland.
David,
Since I can’t share my extensive collection of antidepressants through the computer, will three donated kudos make you feel better??????Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantTreah,
Williamsburg is the city that is within the county of James City County. FUBAR, I know, but that goes back to the 1600’s.I was once able to track down the road and bridge where the picture on “Scenes From The Southside” was taken……simply beautiful!

ParticipantBy all means, ANY Biltmo’ concert would have to be my favorite. I’ve been there for ’em all…..I even saw …..THE FIGHT…..
2006 was great, but I still think my personal favorite was the 2002 concert where Bruce, R.S., and Bobby were all on stage to play “Place in the Sun/Hey Baby” . I have it on bootleg, and then again on a download, and it still brings me to my knees every time.

ParticipantDavid, baby, I picked Monday only because you didn’t give me a selection called “anytime..anywhere…”
Actually, for me, the optimum time would be M-F, 6:00am-7:30am. That’s when I am at school on the computer, before the little munchkins come in for the daily dose of realty I try to serve them.

ParticipantYes, but can you name the Bruce tunes I quoted????
I loved Jackie’s lyricc……….don’t you just want to sidle on over to W’burg and find that shack?????? I don’t know where that one is, but I DO know the location of the place mentioned in “Night on The Town”………….
Vic….. I’m still on hold about handling your balls……. you need to get back to me on that……
Gunky……. PLEASE tell me you are already making plans to tape the 2007 Asheville show. I am thinking of really coming up with a great “forum” party for that venue. Because, as we ALL know, I own the Biltmo’

ParticipantHey Jeff,
Just for grins and giggles, what do you think was the best Bruce song that the Dead ever did while he played with them??? or, for that matter, afterwards with The Other Ones??Mine is, and always will be, “White Wheeled Cadillac”.
Mmmmmm……… they sure make it smooth………….. 😉

ParticipantHey, David Day stole MY signature line
My second favorite lyric is:
“All these years I’ve been pushing so hard
Through high times and low times too
But if I stop now
How could I know what I could do?”Third favorite:
“Well, the heat makes you do things
You might just not do
In your right mind.”Favorite phrase
“…just lost in the view….”Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantWell…. This was an old request, but since I’m old, too, it’s the best I can do….
At the last Charlotte show (Ovens Aud.), I put on the stage a teddy bear wearing a b-ball uniform, with a note that said “Please let Teresa dance on stage”. Not only did he get it, he read the note out loud AND joked that maybe I should just come on up and dance before the show.
That was the same show where, as always, about a third of the way through the show, Bruce says something like…”I know there are some people out there who are wondering what the h*ll we’re playing up here”. So, being the smart *** that I am, I yelled out “The Way It Is”. He picked up on it, and started joking around. Then I yelled out “Freebird!”. Bruce said, “Oh, that just ruined it”, but then proceeded to play the first few lines of “The Way It Is” to the tune of “Freebird”.
Now, you don’t just hear that at any old concert!!!!
Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantOh, no, Vic. You DID just sell your soul. ‘Cuz a loan ain’t gonna begin to cover those bad, bad puns of yours!!!! 🙄
Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantHoly sh*t, Batman, I think we got ourselves a dark horse here. Ah, say, ah say, son, just where DO you hail from, and just HOW much of a fanatic are you??????
Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantSo what am I, chopped liver??????? 😉
Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantWay to go, David! I can actually picture you down there, trying to talk “bruce” with a local , with all the hand signs and everything. Way too fun!!!
Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantI think I may have it on VCR tape. I’ll check and get back to you.

ParticipantHappy New Year!
And just to put my two cents’ worth in…. last summer when I had lunch with Mama Hornsby (no, go ahead, ask) she said that the next release was a bluegrass album with Ricky Skaggs.

ParticipantDavid, David, David, you are just WAY too hard on yourself. Remember, I was there, too. All I had to have done was to answer back your {whispered} question, “Do you think he has a whole closet of those black shirts to wear?”, and I would be Queen of the Golden Muzzle. Quit beating yourself to death. Life is way too short to dwell on petty things like that. Love ya’!!

ParticipantVery nice, David. Very nice.
I, too, am thankful for Bruce’s music. I have just gone through the roughest patch yet in my life, and it was The Man’s music that got me through it. In fact, it took me playing every Hornsby-related CD I own, from The Way It Is to the entire boxed set, and everything in between, including the bootlegs (and I played the Charlotte show three times just to hear my name…thanks gunky
) just to get me back to semi-normal.
So again, thank you Bruce for your phenomenal music. You don’t realize it, and you will probably never even read this to know it, but you saved my life.

ParticipantSticks and Stones is about bullying and how hurtful and destructive verbal “teasing” can be.
Back when I was more active in education (oh, DD, have some things changed since we last talked), I developed a workshop for K-12 teachers on how to identify bullying in the classroom and how to “bully-proof” children. I used (with Bruce’s written permission) Sticks and Stones as the central focus of the workshop.
As a former “morbidly obese” child and adult, I know intimately that “… sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words always hurt me the most”.

ParticipantI’ll take two MVF Muzzles, please. But I might ask you to model it first, Vic m’boy.

ParticipantYes, I was one of Those People standing up at the stage, but I was not “chatting it up”. I was up there to listen and groove to the solos.
You know, at my workplace, I am currently going through this same problem of one or two individuals making a mistake, and having a grumbling horde verbally attack en masse. The difference between the horde on the “FoG:I” forum and the horde that I work with is – – – I teach second grade students, and we call it tattling!!!!!
Grumbling hordes tend to take on a ‘holier than thou’ attitude. I guarantee that every one of you has “chatted it up” at a concert. I believe I remember reading somewhere “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.
The Other Individual involved and I met up with Bruce at the hotel after the concert. We apologized and “chatted it up” with Bruce about what had happened. He has forgiven us, and we all parted best of friends. I hope that, when everyone here has finished venting their spleens about this whole affair, I can still say that I am the best of friends with them, too.

Participant“I’m so excited…..and I just can’t fight it…. I’m about to lose control and I think I like it………..” OOOPS! Sorry, just had a little ’70s flashback, there.
Got my ticket on call in Spartanburg, got my hotel reservation made, got my pillow all warmed up, got me a tankful of gas in the ole ’89 Integra, already called in sick for Friday at work 😉 ………..
Yup, I’m ready for a BRUUUUUUUCE evening!
Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantYou scared me there for a minute, David. You were starting to sound like you were checking out or something. Glad to know it was just a beautiful moment!
