ParticipantThis is for everyone from the board in attendance of SCKBSTD last week: It’s time to share your reviews! I want to hear your thoughts on the performance(s) and the vibe of the crowd from your perspective. I know in terms of the meet-up that Mary bought your silence, but you can PM me details on how out of control she was. I’m sure David Day was a “southern gentleman”, so definitely PM me details on his outlandish behavior!
All kidding aside, I’m ready for the reviews!

Yeah, come on. Everyone has your #, mary! But now that I have your email—muhwahhahahaha!

ParticipantSorry to hear the sad news today. It’s apparent by the many stories shared here and on Facebook that Melissa brought a lot of sunshine into the lives of the people around her and to many of Bruce’s fans.
Thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family today.

ParticipantGreat find, Jeff! I’ve been waiting for this show to become available since–well since the show itself ended! This is going to make my drive up to Chicago swim by nicely.
Fortunately there was no recording made of our pre-show meet-up–or was there?! 😯 😆

The new site looks awesome, Si! It’s very unique to any message board I’ve ever seen before but I really love it!
Mary, what’s wrong? You seem quite contrary these past few days. This is a time to celebrate the new look of the board. I love it! Don’t you?

ParticipantGreat episode this time around, Si!
If you’re taking a vote, I’m a fan of the longer podcasts that include covers of Bruce’s music by other artists. I also enjoy your banter in between the songs, so keep up the great work!

I’ll say.
I’ll have more to say after I repair David’s video camera. I’ll post the link to YouTube here so the rest of the board can “get the picture”.

At least now you have your next podcast all mapped out.
You’re welcome.

SMP
We would love to be there, no doubt. I had to take a layoff at work recently, so our travel plans for the near future are on hold. Other than that, it has been a very enjoyable, blazingly hot, summer. I’m sure we’ll be in attendance at some Bruce shows next year. You know you’re welcome to stalk me anytime.

so glad you’re going to be there. If you wouldn’t mind, could you email me directly and that way we can exchange our plans that way instead of posting them here. There’s stalkers like David and Molo3 out there and we don’t want them to find us.my email is mcockshoot@wildbluecorp.com
Thanks Kat and I look forward to meeting you.
Mary
Mary,
Now everyone has your email address! I think David and I will be the least of your worries as you sort through the “Act Now For A Special Offer!” emails to get to the legit ones. Unfortunately for you, I won’t be making this show. Have fun though!

ParticipantBest line of the 2nd interview: Bride of the Noisemakers 😆
Very much looking forward to a new live CD (hopefully double CD) from the guys. A solo piano record is also going to be fun! Best of all, it sounds like Bruce intends to hit the road running in 2011 in support of the new release(s).

ParticipantSMP,
Where did you hear about the NY opening of the musical? I figured it would make its way there at some point, but I hadn’t heard any details.
I think opening night would be the toughest ticket to get, especially for a premiere such as this. I’m all for trying though! My brother works for the Gilbert & Sullivan Players in NYC right now, but I did encourage him to try out for SCKBSTD.
As for me being 13, maybe at heart! 😆
I’m hoping for at least one regional tour date next year. I definitely want my kids to get to see Bruce & the Noisemakers live before it’s all said and done. Whenver any song comes on the radio that has piano in it, they shout in unison, “Bruuuuuce”. You could say I’m bringing them up right.

ParticipantSorry for the rant. I’m fresh off of seeing a musical my brother was in up in Dayton, OH. The Mrs. and I were the youngest people in the crowd by at least 30 years.
OK, I better sign off before I get myself in trouble! 😯

Participantmary wrote:Molo3, look here…..Jackie will vogue for me too and we’ve never even met. So there ya have it!!Yes, when Molo3 and I get together, we seem to set the tone, whether good or bad.
Jackie, now when are you thinking about going to VA?? Molo3 mentioned some dates. Has the premiere been set in stone or is that still being worked out??
SMP
What can I say? I seem to bring the best out in SMP!
The dates for SCKBSTD are locked in, so barring anything out of the ordinary, it will run mid-January through early February. I’d be open to another meet-up next year if Bruce schedules a tour, but I think this musical is such a special occasion that those of us on the Board that can make it, should show up as a sign of support for this new project.
I don’t know if Bruce will even be there other than maybe the opening night, but I’m sure he would appreciate our efforts. Besides, have you been to an opera/theatrical performance lately? I don’t know if this musical will attract the usual goers, but I’m guessing they want an audience that will understand and appreciate the modern music Bruce puts out.
Case in point: The musical “Rent” came through Louisville years ago and its subject matter and musical style was not well-suited to the typical theater-going crowd, at least not here. Half the audience left at intermission. I don’t foresee that happening here, but regardless, it would be great to see as diverse a crowd for the musical as Bruce draws at his live shows.

Do you know the dates of when you and Karen would be going?? If so, I’ll pick just the opposite. 😆 I’m so damn funny, sometimes I crack myself up. No seriously, let me know when you’re planning on going, and maybe we can meet up. Oh ya, where the heck in VA?? the ‘burg?? I bet David and Amber would join in on the fun as well. I’ll be so quiet, Bruce won’t even know I’m there. Quiet as a church mouse – yep, that’s me. Besides, t shirts are overrated.
“flamethrower” SMP – I’m tellin’ ya, I’m getting more names as this monolog continues. ha
Yes, SMP, you charmed the socks off of me at our meet-up. Unfortunately for you, it wasn’t my shirt! 😆
Did you say MVF and Monica would vogue for you? 😯 Now that’s what I call devotion! 😆
We haven’t decided when exactly we’ll be going but we certainly plan to. The play is premiering at The Wells Theater in Norfolk. I heard Bruce tell a joke about Norfolk on stage at some point. But anyway…
You are certainly a woman of many names, most of which we couldn’t repeat on this here board!

LadyS,
She usually saves the “flamethrower” for the men on here. She says it’s part of her charm. 🙄
mary wrote:Hey maybe we’ll go to VA for that. That would be fun. Never have been to VA. Not sure if Bruce will let me cross the state line but I can always try.Do you know of dates??

The debut of SCKBSTD is January 18-February 6th. I think Bruce will look the other way–as long as you keep your shirt on this time!

ParticipantSMP,
Theater of the mind can be a very scary or beautiful thing! Sometimes both! 😆
Were you planning to attend SCKBSTD’s debut in Virginia in January? If not, we’ll have to arrange a different time/place for a reunion/meet-up next year.

ParticipantWhy do you think I called you out, SMP?! I knew you wouldn’t disappoint, although I may have gotten more than I bargained for! 😯 😆
Quiet, shy and reserved? Nice try. 😆 😆 😆 😆
I would have loved to see Bruce/Ricky’s reaction to you getting up there and disrobing! I bet there is some video of it somewhere. David, get your dawgs on that right away! That is tape we must have in our possession. 😈
How is it that you miss me, SMP? I haven’t been hiding anywhere! Just laying low as usual.

ParticipantLadyS,
Very interesting point of view on Bruce’s music. I’m sure this topic could “catch fire”, especially once SMP chimes in! 😆
I think some of his work can be viewed in that way. As a guy, I can’t say I’ve really thought of it before. We need input from the other ladies on here to really see how prevalent the notion is.
I will say that Bruce’s live shows are certainly charged with a lot of energy, inspiring spontaneous grooving in the audience and even sometimes on stage. I know Mrs. molo3 likes that Bruce’s music encourages you to get up and boogie, but I haven’t heard her talk about his voice or delivery in the way you mentioned.
Either way, this is a fantastic topic. I’m glad you brought it up! Please post more of your thoughts! We always enjoy hearing new POV’s around here.
While you’re at it, check out the podcasts Si, the site’s creator, has put forth. http://sitwi.podbean.com/category/podcast/ Very cool indeed!
