SMPHey Molo!
I got the smoker goin and I “bagged” six today! 😆 Five males and one female. You got any preference? 😆 (Sorry Walking Infraction, but it’s a southern thang! 😆 ) SMP, I got some commin yo way! 😆
SMP…..There would have to be two boats and one of us would have some “quiet fishing on the lake”. 😆
David Day
Lake Lanier, GASMP,
It would be you and David in that boat together. You won’t see me floating on water any time soon! 😆
David,
Once them squirrels are Q’ed up I guess you can’t tell the difference!
Our smoker hasn’t made an appearance yet, but turkey season is right ’round the corner!

I see some others got their cd in the mail but I haven’t rec’d mine yet. Hopefully today.I guess I’m kind of old school. I like going to the record store and checking out new stuff there and buying new music that way.
By the way, anyone know if “Levitate” is being released on vinyl?

Picking up “Levitate” after work and on vacation the rest of the week. Just keeping the good vibes flowing for Bruce today. Love all the press he’s doing and looking forward to his spot on Leno Thursday.

SMP,
In keeping with good spirit today, Bruce’s album release day, I’m simply going to say: “Welcome back!”

Monica, I’m just trying to help you out here.

Geez, thanks Mary! 🙄 That just means more BBQ for me! 😆

Participantsi_twining wrote:How does one get tickets for that show?Si,
I’m pretty sure you have to write and they send them to you. There may even be a lottery system involved. But being that this is his first week back, I would guess all the tickets are gone by now. You could always hop on a bird and try to get in the day of the show.
It would be great if Jay stole a page from Kimmel and had the musical acts perform outside to give it more of a concert vibe. Either way, Bruce and King Clapton are gonna set things on fire that night!
David,
Send me some of that BBQ’d squirrel! 😆

ParticipantListening to “Prairie Dog” over and over and over…has me thinking about how similar it is to “Listen to the Silence” on Spirit Trail. That would make for a nice pairing live, IMO. The song “Levitate” has been one of my favorites from the get-go, so I don’t mind that they left that up there.

ParticipantVic,
You convinced me! I’m gonna have to download that bad boy and check it out. I would get it On Demand, but I really hate giving my cable company any more money than I absolutely have to. I would definitely be supportive of more movies being released via the Internet, Amazon or otherwise. True, you miss the “theater experience”, but if you’re like me and have kids, it’s much more convenient and cost-effective. As an added bonus, beer is always allowed in my theater! 😆

ParticipantI saw this on Si’s Facebook page and quickly put it on mine as a way to introduce friends and family to Bruce’s new material. If everyone would do the same, I think we can generate a lot of “buzz” before the album gets released. I’d love to see “Levitate” open at #1 on the charts that week.

ParticipantThanks for your review, Vic! After listening to “Space is..” I was wondering who that was rapping. Now we know! I can’t believe the rest of us will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to hear the show! 😥 That’s like an eternity!

ParticipantThanks for this, SMP! I can’t wait to hear this. Hopefully it will be aired here soon. Paperboy is such a great song, but when I played it for my wife she just gave me a quizzical look.
I’m really looking forward to hearing Prairie Dog Town solo on the dulcimer. What a treat!
Also glad to know you weren’t arrested, SMP!
That is always a good thing! 😆

That’s one that’s still growing on me personally.
Vic
Speaking of Boulder, how was it? We expect a full review from you and SMP!
I can’t wait to hear the program. Did he perform a full setlist’s worth or was he confined to the time frame of the radio show? Thanks in advance!

I sampled most of the tracks and really enjoyed them, but I kind of look forward to that first listen on the way out of the parking lot at Best Buy (or in this case fresh out of the mailbox if I preorder at Amazon). It’s tough though… I don’t know if I’ll make it.Heath
Heath, I think you may be the only one! 😆 I gave a thought to staying away from the record until it came out, but being on here and reading people’s insights from what they heard, I just couldn’t be left out of the loop! The only drawback is, if Verve pulls the stream of the album off between now and the release date, I may just have a breakdown! 😮 I like the record that much!

ParticipantTakavl wrote:Yeah, that’s what I’m saying and hoping…thanks for your support! 😆 Maybe something is lost in translation? Nothing sounds good on a laptop…and/or with the kids watching “Pokemon” in the background…or with the Sox getting blasted by a sloppy but victorious Yankees! 👿I’m usually skeptical of the whole “it’ll grow on you” thang when it comes to tunage…sometimes it happens, sometimes not…more often with classical shite than with pop, I’ve found, but hey, there are usually exceptions to the rule.
T
Man, I can totally sympathize with you there. I find myself walking around work humming some tune from “Blues Clues” or whatever other children’s programming that has been playing that day/night. And for cripe’s sake, turn off the Red Sox! That may be what soured your mood when you tried to get into “Levitate”. 😆
And no, nothing sounds all that great on a laptop. Unless said laptop is wired to some house speakers.
Is it telling that one of my favorite tunes on the new record so far is “Paperboy”? There’s nothing sinister hiding in my trunk, I swear!

ParticipantTakavl wrote:I gots to keep it real, as they say —I ain’t wit’ it. 😯
As such, I voted “maybe it’ll grow on me.” P’raps my initial reactions were due to trying to listen to it at the Verve site, on a laptop, while either Cartoon Network (day) or the Red Sox/Yanks game is on (night). In other words, not on a stereo and giving the album more concentration.
I would be willing to bet it will grow on you, brother. Definitely check it out again, this time with some quality headphones on. I did notice the gain was way up when I initially got on the Verve’s site. I had to tinker with the EQ to make it sound proper.

ParticipantJust finished listening to “Levitate”. What an oustanding collection of songs! I agree with Vic, I don’t think anything will knock “Spirit Trail” off the perch at #1, but this one is in the running for sure!
There is so much to sink your teeth into on this record, I’ll probably listen to it 3 more times tonight. I definitely hear a resemblance to “Funhouse” on “Prairie Dog Town”. That would be a great combo in concert!
I have more to add about “Levitate” but it is going to have to wait for some other time. I have to go listen again. I can’t wait to have this record in my hands!!
PS.-Monica, hope all goes well with your surgery and rehab. Take it easy

Lake Lanier, GA[/quote]Wow, can you imagine? 1000 posts is an incredible number! It really is! We may have to test you, David, for “performance enhancing drugs”!
Maybe we can all petition Bruce to pen a song called “The Legend of David Day” in honor of your 1000th post here at Bruuuce.com. No matter what happens, it’s a well-deserved honor to be bestowed upon you, Mr. Day!
