Their Web site details the event as a “live radio show taping hosted by Nick and Helen Forster featuring music and conversation with Bruce Hornsby and another musical guest to be announced.”
Too bad it’s a solo show, but general admission is only $20 bucks or so — good news to me!
Vic
Wish you could have been there with us, Vic!
We get the “Etown” show on our local non-comm station here in Louisville and it is always interesting and entertaining. Those shows are taped for later broadcast, correct? I’ll have to do some research to see when Bruce’s taping will actually air on my station here.
An evening with Bruce is a bargain at any price!

ParticipantMan, oh man! Just getting settled in after the looong drive back home. What a phenomenal day/night at the Biltmore! It was indeed fantastic getting to finally meet the fine people on this board that were in attendance.
Big props to Mr. David Day for hosting the meet-up on the Veranda! During the meet-up, we were witness to “a real soaker” of a rainstorm blowing in off the mountains (stay off that rail, Mary!) I can’t remember who snapped the group photos, by that point the wine and a few Vandy’s (right, David?) had begun eroding my ability to store data in the brain! Anyway, hopefully there will be a way to share those photos with everyone. Say “Bruuuce!”
Thanks to MVF for the lovely gifts and the chance to give you my autograph (that never gets old!)
SMP and her husband were great company both at the meet-up and the show! Thanks to Mr. SMP for monitoring Mrs. molo3’s belonging so she could spend the concert up at the rail snapping photos!
Zann, it was great talking to you at the meet-up. Not sure where you ended up for the show, but sadly we did not reconnect that night. Safe travels as you head back up to the Northeast.
As for the show, wow! How do you summarize the energy, emotion, playfulness and exuberence displayed by Bruce and the Noisemakers that night? Even though Bruce said he was in “half voice”, every song was given proper attention and it didn’t appear, to me at least, that he was holding back at all.
The “new” material, Black Rats and Continents Drift, were splendid and builds on the already high anticipation for the new record coming out soon.
Bruce seemed to be having a blast up there with the guys and was very connected with the audience and what we were up to. At the point where he was center stage, for Defenders?, he commented on all of us snapping photos of him with our cell phones. “It’s cell phone world over here,” said Bruce. “There are so many awful pictures of me already on the Internet, why not put out a few more.”
I can’t say when I’ll have another opportunity to catch Bruce live and in person, but there were certainly enough memories to take away from this show and the events prior to last quite a while!
Can’t wait to hear from everyone else!

ParticipantMade into Asheville about 2 hours ago. Weather today is picture perfect with more of the same expected for tomorrow!
Sending out good thoughts for our friends heading to the show in Atlanta tonight!
Heading out soon for a “night on the town” with Mrs. molo3. That first beer is calling my name!

David Day
Lake Lanier, GAIn that case, I hope you hit the green.
Well, David, with the Jamaican flag on your profile and your picture in Rastafarian hat and braids, can you blame them for coming to that conclusion?
I didn’t realize there was potential for a round of golf this weekend? Should I pack my clubs?

ParticipantMVF,
That is understandable that the stage would be set up that way, and it’s probably at Biltmore’s request, most likely for insurance purposes. If Bruce had any say in it at all I’m sure he would allow for people to come up and boogie with him.
The shopping thing would be right up Mrs. molo3’s alley, but I think she is determined to really explore Biltmore Saturday and so we probably won’t make it to “the shops”.

ParticipantMan, Heath, you gotta come to Asheville! Even if there were no show there’s definitely going to be a meet-up of epic proportion at the Biltmore of Bruuuce.com’ers.
Plus, that weekend in Asheville, there is a cool music and arts festival called Bele Chere happening downtown. It’s totally free and will have several well-known bands playing that will be worth checking out. Hope to see you there!
molo3
molomolomolo
ParticipantMVF,
We appreciate your sacrifice!
Besides, we wouldn’t want you to be left out of the group photo on the Veranda! At past Biltmo’ shows, did Bruce honor his tradition of inviting gals on stage to dance? Mrs. molo3 is looking forward to that opportunity. Her only other Bruce show was a solo show, so obviously no stage dancing occurred.

ParticipantDavid Day wrote:Due to popular demand, we will move the meet-up time at the Veranda back to 3:00 with a group picture at 4:30. Please don’t be there before 3:00 because the Inn may not have my guest list till then. For guest coming to the Inn, if you don’t want to pay for valet parking, park in the lower lot before you reach the Inn and just walk up. Walk in the front door and ask for the Veranda. That simple!
Get fired up!
David Day
Lake Lanier, GAThanks for arranging all of this, Mr. Day! You are a true “Road Scholar”!
Mrs. molo3 and I will be a little late to the soiree. I promised her we would check out the wine and chocolate (class/demonstration??) at the Winery. So, we should be there by 3:30 at the latest, grinning ridiculously.

ParticipantActually, I won’t be at the Atlanta show. Sorry to disappoint. 😆
I was just thinking good thoughts for those of you who will be at the Atlanta show. Plus, I don’t want the rain to do any damage to your bells and whistles! 😯

ParticipantMary,
Your efforts are appreciated! Keep on dancin’, we need clear skies for Atlanta and Biltmo’!

Participantbabytweety,
So glad to hear you’re going to be able to see Bruce this time around after all. You were the first one I thought of when I heard Memphis got cancelled.
The weather report has changed yet again and it looks like the rain will stay away.
The countdown to Biltmo’ is ON!
molo3
molomolomolo
ParticipantI guess it is true, T. This is sad news, especially since I know babytweety and her family were making the trip from Dallas to see Bruce in Memphis. Hopefully it is just an issue with the venue and not Bruce or anyone involved with the band. I’m sure we would have heard such if that were the case. I’ll be crossing my fingers the next few days in hopes that Atlanta and Biltmo’ remain on schedule. I don’t think I could bear the enormous disappointment that would be if the Biltmo’ (or Atlanta) show were cancelled.

This concert will be a warm-up for the Biltmo’ so LOOKOUT Asheville!! And if I get any more fired up, I’m going to blow myself out. Wait, that didn’t sound quite right. 😆SMP
P.s. I need to hurry up and buy my bells and whistles so Molo3 can locate me.
Exactly! I’ll either be looking for a woman either wearing (only?) bells and whistles or completely covered in flames from the excitement of the Atlanta show! Can anyone fill us in on the policy at Biltmo’ on cameras/camcorders? We’re not so much interested in taping Bruce’s show as we are just documenting our weekend at Biltmo’. A long trip back to the car may be in order before the show, but it would be cool to know ahead of time.

ParticipantMVF,
That would be so nice if you could burn me a copy of that show. I’d love to add that to the collection!
As far as a meet up before the meet up, I’m open to whatever anyone wants to do. Our plans that day are pretty loose but I think we intend on being at Biltmore for the better part of the day Saturday looking around and definitely partaking in the wine and chocolate demonstration at the Winery. Mrs. molo3 only requested that I reserve Friday in Asheville for her and I but she is excited to meet my friends from here Saturday.
molo3
molomolomolo
ParticipantMy #1 request would probably be “What A Time”. I’ve yet to hear him do it live and that song never ceases to amaze me. #2 would be Country Doctor. I’ve seen it at nearly every show but that one also sends chills down my spine. Anyone else?
I have to say, I’ve been listening to Intersections (all discs) pretty much non-stop for about a month now, mostly to familiarize Mrs. molo3 with Bruce’s handywork. The show-stoppin’ version of Valley Road he does live would definitely be up there, but not sure if he performs it that way still.
One week from now I will be in Asheville, most likely roaming the streets, checking out Bele Chere and looking for a good local brewery. This has been the most anticipated concert of my life, Bruce at the Biltmore, and I can barely contain the excitement. Looking forward to a tremendous weekend with my cohorts from Bruuuce.com!

mr. contrary is correct, this trip will certainly be a blast!

Participanti’m sure mrs. molo3 will be happy to take photos of our demise. i’d rather not wake up on my birthday in the slammer so i might have to dial it down a notch.
molomolomolo
Participantthat’s hilarious, mary! If we get front row dressed in our various attire (or lack of) we may have Bruce reconsidering his career choice! LOL!
molomolomolo
Participantmary,
i’m sure after spending the day in Atlanta you’ll be able to handle our accents in NC just fine. While I’m sure I have a slight twang in my speech, being from KY, it should be intelligible to you. I’ll leave the slapping up to David. I’m sure he won’t mind that nomination.
molo3
molomolomolo
ParticipantI’ll be there, along with Mrs. molo3, sans bells and whistles. I’ll leave that up to mary
If you are going, be sure to PM David Day so he can put your name on the guest list at the Inn. That is where the official Bruuuce.com meet-up is taking place.

Participantbabytweety2yo,
wish we could join you, I really do! our two kids are still a little bit young for traveling to concerts but hopefully in a few more years we can take them with us for a Bruuuce show! we’ll be counting on you to remember all the songs Bruuuce plays (in order!) and to jam out hard for all of us fans unable to attend!
If you request a song for Bruce to play, may I suggest New Minglewood Blues. It’s a Grateful Dead tune and one Bruce probably already knows. Fitting too, since he is playing in Minglewood Hall. There is even more history behind the song, linking it to Memphis, TN.
See here for details on that: http://taco.com/roots/minglewood.htmlhave fun! look forward to a full report when you get back!
