ParticipantTwo words for you my friend: talcum powder!

ParticipantMe thinks “DPD” has “gone back to the island” as he is known to do. I could be wrong, but it’s not like him to be absent from the board for too long.

ParticipantMVF,
I’m cracking up right now at your reply! I’m not quite sure what to say to all that, but i’m sure Mr. Day will be ready to chime in! 😯 😆 My wife thought the shirtless idea was utterly ridiculous, but that hasn’t stopped me in the past! I’m thinking it gets cool at night up in the mountains, right? I’ll think of something else just in case.
I guess the official meeting place before the show is the Inn at Biltmore, correct?

ParticipantMVF,
Glad to hear from you! Hope to meet you at the show at the Biltmo’! Sorry to hear about your job, but maybe Bruce has something lined up for you in merchandising, selling bracelets and shirts. You never know!
At the time of this posting my wife and I are planning to be at the Biltmore show. This is always subject to change, but we’re hoping to come out Friday and staying until Sunday (my birthday). I’m looking forward to an amazing weekend and hope to meet as many of you as possible. I don’t think I have anything to wear that will help me stand out and be recognized. If I didn’t think I would get thrown out for doing so I would probably go shirtless and paint molo3 on my chest. But, I digress.

Participant“Speaking of the Snoq. show, has anyone seen the review of the show that someone posted to the BH site guestbook? Just for convenience, here it be (cut and paste stylee):”
Just saw your show at the Snoqualmie Casino. IT SUCKED. I’ve seen you many times over the years..always great until last night. It was a funeral, no head bobbing, toe tapping, hand clapping. Just puzzled looks from the audience. I almost fell asleep. What was up with that. I expected new and different material, not a bunch of rehashed old stuff. You didn’t dissappoint me there. But my God what happened to great piano work? More than Money wasted you wasted my time and for you it won’t happen again. I’ve spent a lot of money over the decades supporting and enjoying your music. With that comes some expectation of coming away from a show feeling good.
Hah! Either this person has got the most deadpan sense of humor and/or is one of BH’s buds taking the piss out of him, or the BH fan brigades just lost a member fo’ sho’! 😮 😆

That has to be someone playing a joke on Bruce. Opening with Resting Place and WWL is enough to get you on your feet and groovin’. That guy must have shown up late. What happened to great piano work? Please. I’m not buying that one.

ParticipantThe Beacon Theater in NYC is also where the Rolling Stones recorded their doc “Shine A Light”, directed by Martin Scorsese. Fantastic theater acoustically and very “intimate” setting (by NYC standards anyway) Every year as long as I can remember the Allmans have taken up residence at the Beacon, usually for up to a two week run. Most years they bring in a guest guitarist to sit in but this is the first I have heard of a guest pianist. When I saw them last year there they brought out Leslie West of Moutain, who IMO, is a very underrated guitarist.

ParticipantI am liking the sound of this! (pun intended) And this year the shows would be on a Saturday, which makes it easier to get away/back from/to work! Hopefully the weather will be cooperative this year! “Wouldn’t that be something?”

ParticipantWow, what a week, huh?! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any sweeter–it does! The famed Millenium Bash is up and running–and now safe and sound on my mp3 player! Si, you have outdone yourself this week!
molomolomolo
ParticipantLoving Dose Week so far, Si! Thanks for filling my request today.
treah is right, the banter in Sugaree with the guy in the audience is hilarious. Interesting note from being there that night: at some point after Sugaree, maybe right after–it’s been 10 years, so forgive me–Bruce walked down off stage and into the audience and shook the guy’s hand who had heckled him. This was my first Bruce show and I had never before seen a performer interact with the audience on that level. Observiing that gesture and seeing how much fun Bruce and his band were having on stage really inspired me musically and instantly made me a Bruce fan for life. Thanks Bruce for a phenomenal night and thanks Si for taking me back there after 10 years.

ParticipantLove me some Memphis, TN! Drove down for a Dylan show a few years back and definitely wanted to stick around. Blues City Cafe is my choice for best BBQ. You can also purchase their sauce and rub to do your own grilling at home. I highly recommend it. If this show were later in the weekend we would definitely hit it on our way to Dallas. If things should change I’ll let you know!

ParticipantThis is going to be some amazing week, Si! If I may, I’d like to put in a request for 05/11/99 Taft Theater – Cincinnati, OH. This was my first Bruuuce show and I’d really enjoy the trip down memory lane. Hard to believe it was 10 years ago! Thanks for your hard work on this, Si. If you can’t get that one posted up, I’ll understand. As a substitute (that Who song has been in my head all week!) I would gladly accept any show Bruuuce has done in my hometown, Louisville, KY. No pressure!

ParticipantThis is news to me, Victor. Thanks for pointing it out for us. As for the Foxwoods show, it looks like my dream setlist! Wonder if it will become available to the masses somehow some way?
molomolomolo
ParticipantThis is very exciting news, Si! I may have to take that week off from work so I can Bruuuce out at home!

ParticipantWow, I’m actually looking forward to seeing this movie now. I don’t think I’ve ever said that for a Robin Williams picture. How awesome for Bruce as well!! I’ve always pictured a lot of Bruce’s music as being a soundtrack for a film, given his song’s vivid imagery and narrative. Glad to finally see someone put them on display.

ParticipantOh man, bbq, peach cobbler, Bruuuce and the Blue Ridge Mountains! I can’t wait for summer to get here now! Tickets go on sale sometime in May for the Biltmore show. The molo3’s will be there and staying at the Inn.
Sorry to Bryan for hijacking this thread earlier in the week with the Biltmore question. I’ll start another thread so we can continue this conversation there and keep this thread for Bryan’s new gig updates.

ParticipantThis is fantastic news!
The wifey and I already have a Biltmore trip planned for mid-May but I think we’ll try to do the ATL show. That’s my birthday, too, and would be wifey’s first Noisemakers show. She was prego with our twins at her first Bruce show, a solo affair here in Louisville, so this would be a very special night.
I’m down with that!

ParticipantThanks, Mary! After posting earlier I went and looked it up. Looks like a mighty small space–about 300 people! I was hoping for a show at the Estate as well, but this could be very interesting indeed.

ParticipantPollstar.com lists shows in Atlanta and Asheville 7/24-7/25. Any more info with these? Also, anyone know what The Garage at Biltmore is? Atlanta Botanical Gardens is the venue listed for the Atlanta date.

ParticipantI may have to violate my self-imposed reality TV band and check this out, on YouTube at least. Glad that Bruce is getting some love on TV these days. I wonder what Bruce thought of the performance.

ParticipantVery sad to hear this news today. Thoughts and prayers are with the Hornsby family today. R.S. was a phenomenal player and kind soul and he will definitely be missed!

It is located on the OnDemand music tab, concert.tv tab, Never seen before tab and you’ll see it. It’s two parts and its pretty hot show. Let me know where else its showing…Enjoy
Very nice show indeed! I believe Insight had it on for a while here and I managed to catch it. Hope everyone gets a chance to see it.

ParticipantI received some new music and some old music for Christmas this year. My wife got me Lucinda William’s latest CD, “Little Honey”. I’ve been listening to it non-stop for the past two weeks and have fallen in love with about 90% of it. IMO, this record is way better than her last one, “West”, which had some moments on it but ultimately falls flat. (no rap on this one, either, which was a good call on her/the producer’s part).
My dad got me a gag gift/CD, The Bangles “Different Light”. They were my favorite band at the time it came out (I was
and I totally had a crush on Susanna Hoffs and Vicki Peterson. I haven’t opened it yet and haven’t decided if I will or if I will take it back and exchange it. I’m guessing the latter. I’m glad this thread got bumped, I missed it the first time around, and now after reading it I have quite a few options for the next time I hit the record store. Yes, I actually still go to the record store. I’m old school like that!

**Forgot about my other gift from dad, a DVD concert of Billy Joel live at Yankee Stadium in ’89 or ’90, can’t remember which. It was around the time Storm Front came out and it’s actually a pretty nice set. It’s funny to me to see the production value of concert videos from that time period. There is lots of swooping and swirling camera shots and close-ups of band members hamming it up for the camera and making faces into the camera a la Van Halen videos from the ’80s. The DVD has sentimental value to me since my wife and I were just there over the summer for the final season at the old Yankee Stadium and also because B. Joel was my childhood inspiration for getting into piano.

I second that one, OpenTune! First Bruce show for me was at the Taft in ’99, an unbelievable show at that! Here’s hoping THE MAN makes it to the area in ’09.
Good luck with those cats! Yowza!
