ParticipantWhat a great interview!!! Although I am insulted when he says, “Younger people want to dance (at the concerts), and old people don’t”.
Who do you think Bruce is referring to when he says that “Dreadlock Dave wants to dance”?? 😆
MVF
ParticipantNo, no aliases on this front…..
We may have a new player here!! 😯
We always welcome new friends who have a scathing wit and aren’t afraid to use it!!!!!
MVF
ParticipantJiminy crickets!!!
Are you sure you’re not one of those “Almost Famous”, “Follow the Band”, “Official Photographer” kind of person???
Those are some PHENOMENAL pics!! Makes the ones I sent you look kinda lame.
I’m not worthy!!!!

Lake Lanier, GAWatch it, bud. You’re treading on some pretty thin ice, there.
From what I have observed, the women outnumber the men on this forum…Don’t make us gang up on you.
Miss Virginia Former (I’ve decided that I am WORTH spelling the whole thing out).

Lake Lanier, GALots of people tell me that.

Actually, I am your everyday fan 🙄 , but I have not attended a concert yet when I didn’t get to meet him before the show, during the sound check, or after the show. It helps if you chat up the security guards before the show. I got backstage at the Biltmo’ once that way. I’ve got his autograph all over the place here…teddy bears, shirts, liner notes, CD cases, posters, my brother Tom’s b-day present, etc. I think my “relationship” with Bruce is at the “Hey, I know you, have a great time” stage, but not too far from the “Oh Lord, there she is again. SECURITY!!!!” stage. 😳
BTW, not only am a FOB here on the Board, but I am also a Friend of Boyds (teddy bears). I have lots of items that say FOB on them…..Hmmm, maybe a lucrative venture to my FOBs here??????

ParticipantThanks, Bryan!! I finally got a posting on the request coolae (#20). I KNEW I would have a use for all that neon paper. AND Bruce actually referenced it from the stage. Sigh…..

ParticipantI was sitting at home that night, and my son called. He said,”Mom!!Mom!!! quick, turn on Community! Chevy Chase is trying to do “The Way It Is”. It was the first time in 2 months that he called. Made me feel all warm and motherly inside.

ParticipantDavid Day wrote:Don’t be “bashful”! (Maybe the infamous MVF can correct me if I misspelled that wrong!)
Your thoughts are always welcome!David Day
Lake Lanier, GANope, you got it right….. although we won’t go into “misspelled that wrong”…..
Sorry it’s been so long between posts. I’ve been spending most of my time either at the unemployment office or out on interviews.
By far, “Black Rats” is my fav, followed closely (no pun intended) by “Prairie Dog”. Anybody out there see any similarities between “Paperboy” and the MAX show “Dexter”???????

Participantsunflowerkat119 wrote:The lyrics of Invisible really hit home with me. My 14 year old son has been a bully magnet through the years. Fortunately, it is finally an improved situation. He’s heard the song, but has not commented to me on it. It might hit just a little too close to the bone for those who have suffered through it. I love the song for making the rest of us think about what it must feel like to be a victim of someone elses mean streak.Have you noticed just how many of Bruce’s songs deal with bullying? In just a quick run-through, I came up with these:
Night on the Town
Fire on the Cross
Talk of the Town
Resting Place
Pete and Manny
Boo Radley
Sticks and Stones
Try Anything Once
Gonna Be Some Changes MadeI teach a workshop for teachers that gives some strategies for dealing with bullying in the classroom, student-to-student AND Teacher-to-student. I have permission from Bruce to use some of his songs in this workshop. I was horribly bullied as a student, and I pledged that I would NEVER allow someone to be bullied in my classroom OR in my presence.
Okay, let me climb down off of this soapbox of mine.

ParticipantNope, mine still stays with “Black Rats of London”. But this probably has something to do with my love of Early, early American history. BTW, next week I take my yearly sabbatical back in time and will be volunteering at the Alamance Battleground as a Costumed Interpreter for about 1800 school children. I demonstrate toys and games from colonial times. And don’t cha’ know I’ll be humming “Black Rats” all week…..!
MVF
ParticipantHey, guys, thanks for all the help.
Due to recent events (not the least of which involved a kidney stone 😥 ), I’ve been a little off-task.
Monica, Should have a bear for you in the mail this week. I’ve rented a craft booth at our upcoming Fall Festival. Mine is named “Beads & Bonnets & Bears, oh my”. Wish me luck 😆
Zann, was it your little lady that is interested in bears??
Hey, did we EVER figure out what “Candy Mountain Run” is all about???
MVF
ParticipantYep, PDT is one of my favorites…
It took a rubber rat attached to my request to get Bruce to play Black Rats of London at Biltmo’….
Where am I going to get a rubber prairie dog…..
MVF
ParticipantThanks for making my rat a star….

ParticipantCaught Bruce on Leno Show tonight…
Fantastic version of “Space is the Place”. I did not realize that all da’ Noisemakers would be in attendance as well. Clapton was…..well, he was Clapton to the core. Loved the guitar!Looked in the audience for any obvious Bruceheads…if you were there, you hid quite well.
Welcome back to the loop, Missed ya’, Mr. Willis……..

ParticipantMy fav is a toss up between “Black Rats of London” and “Prairie Dog Town”. I like BRL because of its historical bent. I like PDT because the live version at Bay Days was such a hoot! Especially when the audience had to entice “”June Hill”” to come out to sing!

ParticipantTHAT WAS ME!!!!
Fred the Bear has been autographed by everybody in the band ‘cept Sonny. It has also been signed by a select few SiBs and BiBs.I made a several bears, but there didn’t seem to be much interest. Would your wife be interested in a “bare” bear? Send me a PM about her interest, and maybe we can make a deal. I am currently spending all free time making various bears, decorating straw hats (Williamsbuerg style), and working on some pieces of jewelry. I am renting a booth at our local Fall Festival (10/10/09) and am hastily trying to increase stock. See what happens when you lay off a teacher!!! 😥

ParticipantWell, I got MINE at Bay Days, and IMMEDIATELY got to hear “Black Rats of London” and “Prairie Dog Town” live and in person!
Jackie,
Give on the secret names, and I might send you some special pics from the aforementioned Bay Days!September 17, 2009 at 3:12 am in reply to: BAY DAYS 2009 BRUUUCE.COM MEET-UP! 9/12 – Hampton, VA #31024MVF
ParticipantI took one look at the 400 people in line for autographs, and took my signed teddy bear and went home! Wish now that I had stayed!

ParticipantBRUUUCE.COM ROCKS!~!~!~!~!~!
Truly loved meeting so many friends from this site, not to mention actually being graced by the presence of THE Si Twining!!!
Lizzie, you sure know all the ropes to having THE ultimute Bruce experience.
Karen, I don’t know if we enticed you to join our little group here, but sure enjoyed your company.
Same goes for the guy that I have met so many times at so many BRH concerts, and still can’t remember his name, DESPITE that front row ticket in Charlotte! 🙄
Bryan, I, too, enjoyed that touch, and do not plan to wash that body part.
If you had been on MY side of the fence, you could have gotten a full body hug!
DPD?????????
So glad Lizzie got the full set list. She got it right, too, ’cause I watched her write most of it.
I know I met and spoke with many more people from this site, and others. But after the third Seagram’s Lemonade, all I could remember were the songs!!!!!
BTW — Big Rock Candy Mountain/Children of Zion/ Candy Mountain Run started off the concert…do I owe someone a drink????????

ParticipantLizzie,
I would like to call dibs on the extra bed.
I should find out for sure by this evening. Either way, I will contact you about hotel accomodations.
You can also send me a private message.
MVFP.S. both Monica and Jackie can vouch for my character….
Guess how long it will take DPD to come with a smart-ass comment.. on the subjectMVF
ParticipantOkay……
I thought I was at least marginally computer adept, but this whole posting is alien to me…
The only part I got was that you didn’t want all “professional” voices. Hey , that’s me!!!!
As much as I would dearly love to be a part of any of your endeavors, I’m afraid I wouldn’t have the foggiest idea where to start. Especially since the last time I sang in public was in the alto section of the choir way back in ’75…

ParticipantI will probably not get there until Sat. morn.
but I WILL be staying over on Sat. night.
In fact, I may stay over a couple of days, seeing as I don’t have a job to go to. You know, unemployment sounds all good and well, but I don’t recommend it to anybody….. I mean, I’ve already done the spring cleaning, caught up on my reading, made Christmas gifts for everybody (all I can afford), etc. If I were independently wealthy, I would become a Noisemakers roadie…….Hey, Rich,
Where did your tag line come from? I like, I like!August 19, 2009 at 3:33 pm in reply to: BAY DAYS 2009 BRUUUCE.COM MEET-UP! 9/12 – Hampton, VA #30975MVF
ParticipantI suspect I will step on a couple of toes for this one, but it IS a true account…
To keep the hurricanes at bay (no pun intended), we just need to ask Pat Robberson to pray the hurricane away. He did this for many “near misses” way back when I lived in Virginia Beach.
Another way to keep the hurricanes/ tropical storms/ tropical depressions; etc. at bay would be to schedule a truly kickin’ concert and then invite the Forum to attend… and then cancel the show.
… worked last year…signed,
MVF, aka Miss Virginia Former; aka Teresa; aka the chick who dances on the stage; aka….oh h*ll, just call me whatever you want
that’s what DPD does 😆btw, where IS Mr. DPD now days?????
