I thought this was the first song they played, but I just saw someone posted Jack Straw on youtube from last night, which I didn’t see them play. I watched the whole show from start to finish. Could they have opened with Jack Straw, but the stream didn’t start till after?
I think Jack Straw must have been a second encore. The accordion is exactly where Bruce left it after Rainbow’s Cadillac (it was on the right side of the stage in at the start of the show). I assume the Yahoo thing keeps a tight 2 hour schedule. Bruce made a comment about how they made him come out at 9 on the dot and the show seemed to end right before 11.
The production was really well done. I thought the dulcimer section was particularly great. It looks like the “Always watch Bruce” rule has been relaxed for the new guys. There were quite a few times when they were closing their eyes and doing spaced out jamming in their own worlds.

ParticipantI’ve seen a lot of back issues of Keyboard Magazine on ebay. It should not be difficult to locate, but it might be more than you are willing to spend.
Back in the 90s someone made a midi file of Song A and put it on the web – there are a lot of tools out there to turn a midi file into sheet music. I remember this because that midi file was my only exposure to Song A for a very long time. Unfortunately, that file is long gone from my collection. Maybe someone else out there still has a copy of it.

ParticipantI’ll try to behave and limit myself to 3 questions…
1. I saw both the opening and closing performances of SCKBSTD in Norfolk. Will there be official releases of more songs from the musical like “Holy Trinity” and “If The World Only Knew”? I really dug the songs!
2. How challenging has it been getting the new Noisemakers members up to speed given the band’s huge catalog and tendency to turn on a dime during live shows?
3. Any memories you’d like to share of the time you spent working with Robin Williams?

ParticipantListen to Si’s most recent interview podcast with Bruce… he talks about the album and what songs will be on it.

ParticipantI knew I’d seen Ross somewhere before…

ParticipantI did some more digging and I don’t think a copy of 7/28/09 ever surfaced… but I KNEW I had heard Bruce do a cover of this somewhere. Turns out it was the Myrtle Beach show from 8/23/04. It looks like nobody submitted the setlist to Bruuuce.com, which is kinda weird since it was a pretty notable show with NBA coach Rick Carlisle guesting on piano and some rare covers.
Anyway here’s the “missing” setlist for anyone curious:

ParticipantSneaking Up on Boo Radley – 9/20/2002
This is radically different from any other Boo I’ve heard. It opens up with a jam session kinda similarly to how the 8/24/01 Harbor Lights opened up. Then Bruce turns the song on its head once again towards the end.
I’ll upload it…

ParticipantThe setlist page says Bruce covered/teased Wichita Lineman in Lexington, KY back in 2000.

ParticipantI took a quick look at the source code last time I got redirected and did a google search for the “injected” code that was causing the redirects.
This line was injected (I’m intentionally adding some spaces in the url so nobody can click it)

The blog post below seems to describe the problem this board is experiencing (this link IS safe to click):

ParticipantWhy the short set? Was there some Candy Mountain Rain?

Interestingly, Bruce worked a Mumford and Sons(!?) cover into End of the Innocence.

ParticipantWelcome, Craig. Here are a few things that might help…
– Bruce’s piano is always on the left hand side of the stage. So if you want the best view of Bruce you should keep that in mind when choosing seats.
– There are fan pics with Bruce all over this board and facebook. He is easily one of the most accessible “stars” out there. I don’t have any advice on how to go about getting a pic with Bruce, but others should have some good advice.
– Bruce takes written requests before the show. Get creative and write your request on paper and walk up and place it on the stage. One of Bruce’s guys comes out on stage about 15 minutes before the show and picks up all the requests and brings them back to Bruce. If Bruce is bantering with the audience, feel free to shout out a request too. Just be respectful about it.

ParticipantJF1 wrote:– White Wheeled Limo: I love the arrangement of this. In particular, JV’s bass solo as well as Sonny’s, really enhanced the song and brought a unique touch to it, which really separated it out from all the other versions of White Wheeled Limo I’ve heard. Limo is definitely one of my favorite songs from Bruce, and I think it’s safe to say this is my favorite version.I have mixed feelings about White Wheeled Limo. The band is definitely on fire for this one and I’m glad the bass solo is actually audible in the remixed version (compared to the version on BHLive).
The highest energy part of the song (to me anyway) is the jam that starts around 6:05. Bruce lays down a simple lick and everyone picks up on it and builds it up into something fantastic. Vintage Noisemakers stuff! Unfortunately the “Bride” version of this might as well be a drum solo. Bobby Read’s sax is where most of the energy comes from and it’s almost removed entirely. It sounds like someone was asleep at the board when this was being remixed for the new album.
Take a listen to this short clip from the original (from BHLive) and compare it to what’s heard on the Bride version at 6:05.
Bride is so good, I can only nitpick, but this really jumped out at me when I was listening.

ParticipantBram,
I always assumed it was MP3s that would be $3.99. The news release on Bruce’s site seems pretty clear it’s digital (MP3). But then again, I am pretty familiar with the specials amazon runs on MP3 album downloads.
http://www.brucehornsby.com/news/bride-of-the-noisemakers-available-now-amazons-daily-deal/
The the rotating graphic refer to the $3.99 special?
I have to admit my viewpoint is probably biased from the beginning, since most of the music I purchase these days is in digital form. In fact, the only time I really buy CDs anymore is when I am at a concert and can purchase from the “merch person” directly. Sorry if you feel you were misled, but I hope you can agree it’s a great set for the money at either $3.99 OR $11.59.

ParticipantWhat a fantastic interview! It’s great when the interviewer is really into Bruce’s stuff and asks some great intelligent questions. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Matt is a regular visitor to our little board here.
