KeymasterI believe they share the same management.
I do like Bon Iver’s music – but I’m afraid Vernon’s voice goes right through me, in much the same way that Coldplay’s Chris Martin does. He dropped it for a few seconds 3 minutes 25 into the video you’ve quoted, which just makes the rest of it sound all the more effected. Just my opinion – his playing in the same video is gorgeous, though.
Thanks for posting it.

KeymasterThink I agree with you, MVF… just report back on the first findings and then reboot to see what people think now. Kind of like a retrospective.
Anyone else want to chime in?

KeymasterYou’ll see from the front page that the wheels are in motion… might be due sooner, but for a disaster this morning (I lost almost everything I’d been working on for two weeks! Thank goodness for backups, however old they may be!)
Quick advice from you all needed if possible – since the new site will be something of a reboot, how do you think we should deal with the polls that have been running on the site for the last 13 years? You’ve voted on favourite tracks etc for each album – do we retain those stats for the new site, or in keeping with “restarting”, do we just report those votes and see what you all think now, after the first 25 years are up?
What do you all think?

KeymasterAs I’ve corresponded with DMBTex10101 for some time time, I can confirm two things unequivocally:
i. he has the least user-friendly name that I’ve ever seen, and
ii. in no way would he have meant to come across as chastisingCheck out his definitive Bela Fleck website – you’ll see from the front page that he’s worked with Bruuuce.com in the past, and I’m sure we’ll do so again, given the two wonderful talents on offer (Bela and Bruce, or Bruce and Bela, but not Si and DMBTex10101).

I don’t think Bruce feels “obliged” to play covers at all. I don’t believe he has any idea what he’s going to play until he gets out there.
He regularly refers to “inflicting” his tastes in music on the audience… I don’t think that anyone who plays Webern or modern classical could be fairly accused of pandering to a crowd.

KeymasterGetting over some surgery and an infection picked up as a result, but back on my feet and I’ll soon be ready to go!
Thanks for asking.
I’ll have something for all of you soon…

KeymasterThe delay would be my fault – the one I mailed out got returned. I don’t’ think it made it out of the country!
I’ll be in the US next month so I”ll hand him one personally.

KeymasterGo ahead and name them, Rich! I’d be interested to know.

KeymasterHey AJ
Good question – almost all content will make the switch over to the new site.
The only parts I’m having problems with are the Bruce Base. The set lists will remain, but the searchable database is what I’m struggling with – i.e. the facility to look for every show played in Virginia, every show featuring Harbor Lights etc at the click of a button. I hope to crack it soon.
I’ve worked out how to move the Board, so that’s not a concern.
Some areas, such as the gallery and the concert ratings, will hopefully be improved.
Keep the questions coming – it’s helpful for me to see what is important to include and to build on.

KeymasterI couldn’t pick a favourite if I spent all day considering it! I guess iTunes gives it away by listing how many times each of them have been played… but I really do like them all.
The Bruuuce.com community is a very creative bunch and I’d like to think that some of the interpretations were put together in ways that wen Bruce would never have seen coming.
With all due respect and gratitude to previous contributors, I think this was my favourite project yet.

KeymasterI can’t try from the UK… But maybe try another browser?

KeymasterRICK! My hero too. Would you drop me a PM or an email with your email address please? simontwining@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks! … and good to see you around.
Si Twining
KeymasterGood question. If I can do it properly, then no, you won’t have to re-register.
I’ve been making some progress, so I’ll have a trial run over the weekend with a new Board and see how it translates over. All being well, all the old posts should still be there too.
I’ll keep you all posted.
Si Twining
KeymasterHaha! Nobody would want rid of the Board’s MVP!

KeymasterGot a good bit of graphic work done on this today… all with a mouse as my left arm is in a ❗ splint!
I’ll use this thread to update you on some of the new features which have really been a long time coming.
… so for the last couple of days I’ve been obsessing over a colour scheme, then thought I’d put it to the vote on here… then came up with something completely different. So I’m hoping that with the new site, you’ll all be able to choose your own colours individually! If you want pink and green with black stripes, it’ll save your personal settings so that each time you visit, that’s what you’ll get. Or if you want the same colours as now, it’ll do that also.
Might seem trivial, but that level of detail (or geekery) appeals to me!
Si Twining
KeymasterI actually meant photos of concerts!
Si Twining
KeymasterThanks… it may be a while coming (sometime early to mid July looks likely) so it may disappear for a week or two. I’ll make sure the doses and new setlists go up, even if the rest of the site is blank!
I’m hoping for visitors to be able to upload their own photos, and maybe even give a “star” rating to other people’s.
Those are just two ideas – maybe this screw-up with this company was just what we needed to “reboot” the site and give it some social media aspects. Time to bring it up to date!
Si Twining
KeymasterExcellent advice from Oscar.
Which show are you making it to, Craig?
If you have a song request – if it’s an older song, or a rarely played one, maybe write out the lyrics (you’ll find them on this site). If you’re not sure whether it’s rare or not, let us know what you’re thinking of and somebody will happily advise
Look for a small congregation after the show – likely where the tour bus is heading out of. That might be your best chance to get a photo.

KeymasterSome well-deserved thanks for Mr David Day here…
David very generously sponsored the event, and without his help there would have been no Daily Dose Day. His generous funding helped to provide the two websites (DailyDoseDay.com and SalivateCD.com), the cover CD and all of the postage to cover the contest prizes, the 25 for 25 DVDs etc.
Not to mention his time with promoting the event both on here and Facebook…
A huge debt of gratitude to all of you, but most especially David. Without him there would have been no DDD at all!
Si Twining
KeymasterDavid, you really are the Don King of the music world!
Si Twining
KeymasterDavid has heard much of Salivate, since he sponsored it – just in case you were wondering.
And here’s a little tip for you Boarders, if you want in with a chance of a big prize … do you know how to work Google Maps and Google Street View? We’re going on a treasure hunt…!
Si Twining
KeymasterThanks to all who have spread the word already!
Just to fill you all in a little on “Salivate”, I’ve been truly blown away at the quality of the music that’s coming through. I loved the previous three we’ve done, and with no disrespect to the artists involved back then, this one is going to be the best yet.
As mentioned above, I’ve put up some teasers as the latest round of Last Fan Standing, and it was quite hard to pick ten that sound anything like the originals. Some have been completely rewritten, but remain faithful to Bruce’s music and you’d immediately know it as a Hornsby song.
One person has sent two versions of the same song, and I’ll be putting one up as a Daily Dose on Bruuuce.com soon, just to give you some idea of what’s coming. I can’t wait to share this with you guys.
Si Twining
KeymasterJust to update you all – I’m working on some fantastic contest prizes for this, and even now and hearing new music to add, in one way or another.
DDD is the biggest project we’ve ever done on this site, and doubtless the biggest we ever will do. Suffice to say, there will be a lot of surprises on the day!
How can you help? If anyone could post a link to http://www.dailydoseday.com on their Facebook, Twitter or website, or e-mail to friends, and encourage them to share the link, it would certainly help. 125 tracks (5 from each artist) of world class music for free… as David says, it’s not to be missed!
Si Twining
KeymasterI’ve seen this on etree before – if you need it quickly, you might ask there…
Si Twining
KeymasterI recorded what I could of the stream. Which was not much!
