It’s quite possible to get one without the other. I could never be called the Dead’s biggest fan – or even a fan, frankly.
I appreciate what they did, and especially their songwriting – and the countless covers are testament to the high regard they’re held in. But here’s the thing with the Dead – I could name very few songs which weren’t covered better than the original artists’ performance. All in my humble opinion.
It’s all over You Tube – we should leave comments on every video that Bruce sang the original! 😆
You have to love Simon Cowell, who “didn’t like the lyrics”. I recall him being on Letterman a few years ago with Bruce and apparently blanking Bruce’s handshake. A fantastically arrogant man.

I have DVDs to share, but am unsure of the correct format or software to use? What constitutes an acceptable level of compression?

I’m not a member these days, but I doubt it – they always put the full shows up. I only heard the edited version on a subsequent news broadcast. Bruce was on James Whale’s show.

The boss of the station also visits this board, so I’m not about to post it up here!!
I’ll dig out the synopsis that he sent me and post it up (I beleieve Bruce did voice his intention to visit the UK this year).
In the absence of a Daily Dose Day this year, I’ll be making next Saturday (24th) a day for R.S. here on the site.
I’ll update the site several times throughout the day with some of R.S.’s performances with Bruce and the Noisemakers since 2000.
No games, quizzes or donations, just an appreciation of an immense talent with some killer tunes. Be sure to spin them onto CD and share them with whoever you can.
They’ll go up over the course of the day, and remain up for some time for people to enjoy and distribute.
Please join us next Saturday to celebrate the gift that R.S. shared with us all for the past several years.
I’ve just heard from Bruce’s assistant Patti. I’m really at a loss at the moment.
If anyone has any ideas for a tribute, or any particular performances of his that they’d like to hear, then please let me know.
RS was frequently referred to as “the next generation of deadhead”, and I know his appearances were a frequent highlight with Bruce’s followers.
My prayers are for Bobby and Ann, and all of his family.

If this is the show that I’m thinking of, Bruce was especially pleased with it. He spoke some years later about following a well-known band on stage, and the crowd were half dead… so he decided to wake them up.
