Anywhere within easy walking distance of the venue, I should say!
We can’t really go wrong, so if you have any suggestions, leave them here and we’ll sort something out.
Can we hold back from any personal comments on this board, please… the original post was not in reference to any one person – or couple – and I’m going to assume that nor are the comments that followed. I was reflecting on people talking in general, which I still maintain is distracting Bruce and the audience.
If I wasn’t clear enough on that in the original post, then I’ll either amend it, or delete this topic, on request.
Otherwise, disagree by all means, but no attacks please!
Just to clarify, this wasn’t an attack on anyone personally, since I didn’t know who was involved, and I wasn’t referring to any one incident. It’s a growing trend, and, I think, a worrying one.
No offence to anyone intended, just a plea for consideration.
I’m catching up with Bruce in a couple of weeks, so I’ll ask him for some clarification.
I don’t think I’m betraying any confidences in saying that almost all of these shows are being videoed for a project that Bruce has in mind, so maybe that’s a reason why.
Having met him this past summer… I can tell you that, unbelievably, his picture is not too far from the truth.
Don’t be too surprised to see a dreadlocked Dave show up for your night…

Never heard either solo, and as a matter of fact I’ve been bugging Bruce to do “Mirror on the Wall” solo. I am in contect with a taper at that show, although he wasn’t entirely happy with the results and he warned it could be a while.
“Under the Covers” doesn’t sound too bad, actually!

I think poor Bruce will be too busy with a solo tour and spending some precious time at home to be meeting a party of us for lunch! (I’ll just be missing the VA gigs, but I’m making it to New York again… any excuse!)

I wouldn’t be tripping over myself to go to Oyster Bay any time soon, as the venue is pretty innaccessible (without a car) , the food/drink prices astronomical, and the staff are simply obnoxious.
I don’t have the discerning ear of, say, Will when it comes to sound quality, but there are factors that I need to consider when picking which shows I go to. Some may not persuade me, but that’s no reflection on the music, or my support of Bruce and the band!

A couple of things I learnt – Bruce has no control over the opening act, or even whether there is one. She started a quarter hour late, which I assume was due to the traffic and excitable security staff coming in.
For what it’s worth, I found Alexa Ray a little too happy with herself, but I guess that’s to be expected when she’s playing predominantly to family and friends.
The “incident” that people have talked about was one particular guy heckling, stage left. Specifically, he was creating laughter amongst those around him. I don’t know about you, but if I were opening my heart to people in a public situation, the last thing I’d want to hear back would be laughter. Just seemed a lack of manners and respect from a small few.
It also didn’t help that security (see above) were officious in the extreme. No photos, no walking during songs (?!! thank goodness I didn’t need the bathroom during The Way It Is…) and they certainly did their bit to aggravate those around them. Yet, they allowed the heckler and more than one pot smoker to go about their business, trouble-free.
One of the shorter Bruce shows for all of the reasons above, and a tight curfew, but what I heard, I had a good time with.

If so, what time? Is there a table booked for a specific number?
I have a travelling partner in crime – David – for both Tennessee shows, and I’ll also be looking out for my cousin before Knoxville, but there’s still a chance that I can make a meet-up beforehand.
If not, some and say hi at the show.
