All the details are now up

    https://bruuuce.com/2014/03/30/20-days-of-bruce/

In short – twenty straight days of concerts for download, rather than one Daily Dose Day. Lots of prizes and giveaways, contests and fun features as well – there’s a lot of work already underway to make this a fun three weeks!

All the details are in the above link, including the benefiting charities.

I hope you can all take part!

    – Si.

Agreed – I love that version.

I’ve had a bash at your second challenge – a rare song from 1999-2000 performed by the band. I’ve gone for “Down the Road Tonight”, but that was challenging enough to look for some more. It’s up as March 30’s Dose, anyway!

    Wow… thanks for the challenges!

I thought number 1 would be easy. It wasn’t! The show that you mention includes a solo NOTT, so I had to go back to 1996, which is just outside of your target. I hadn’t realised how rarely that song is played with the band!

I’ll get thinking on the others – the first one is up!

I’ve posted that song as today’s Daily Dose, in case it was the one you wanted. Either way, it’s a great version.

There’s an interesting project! I’ll sit down at some point soon and list what I can think of. Off the top of my head:

Madman Across the Water – Two Rooms (Elton John tribute)
King Harvest – Endless Highway (The Band tribute)
The Show Goes On/Set Me in Motion – Backdraft soundtrack
    Red Hook summer soundtrack
    World’s Greatest Dad soundtrack
20/20 Visino – Charlie Haden soundtrack
White-Wheeled Limousine – Trios (Rob Wasserman)
Don’t Blame It On Me – Goin’ Home (Fats Domino tribute)

    … what else?

Thanks for the help, all… the first rating page is now up, for The Way It Is:

    https://bruuuce.com/2014/01/12/way-back-to-the-way-it-is/

Over time, we’ll average every rating for every song, and present the results when every record has been scored.

    Another question!

Aside from rating the above, and each track, I have these questions. Can anyone think of any more? I’d like this to be everyone’s survey!

When did you buy The Way It Is? 1986/soon after/in the following years/more recently/not long ago

In what format do you own The Way It Is? CD/vinyl/cassette/digital

I don’t want to many or people will be confronted with a big wall of text and just click away…

I’m wrestling with “statement”, “impact”, and how they differ – and how the overall track average score might reflect that.

I really like Production/editing etc – also personnel/collaborations. I’d file “Standing the test of time” under “Longevity”.

    Thanks for these!

    I think I have:

    • compositions
    • lyrics
    • longevity
    • even the cover and liner notes.
    • production
    • personnel

Any more, we can incorporate on the pages for the later records. We’ll start with “The Way It Is”… obviously!

    Okay, you’re GOOD!

That’s a great video – from multiple angles as well! I’m going to put something on the main site in the next week, as there’s plenty being worked on now and I don’t want it to get lost in the shuffle.

Thanks a lot – looking forward to whatever else you have up your sleeve!

I did have it. Sadly, the CDs that they used were not of the highest quality, and deteriorated pretty quickly.

Sad to see Munckmusic go this way, as they were really good initially, and comped me a load of free CDs. I heard a similar tale from a lot of people too.

You have a request in the comments section of the page I wrote this up on:

    https://bruuuce.com/2013/12/22/send-your-drum-requests/

It comes from Craig Seidl, who I’m about to write a separate feature on. This is his own playing of some of Bruce’s songs:

There will be two Hall of Famers inducted this year.

Normally this would be an open vote, but this time there were a couple of people that I really didn’t want to exclude.

Look out for a tribute to both of them real soon!

    Here are the current inductees:

The lyric analysis is still there! Maybe I should make it more prominent.

It’s on each record’s page under “Release”, e.g.

A very fair point, MVF – and the sad fact is, I’ve not had the chance to listen to pick up a copy yet, let alone listen to it!

The CD isn’t available in Europe until October, and there is no digital distribution – so no iTunes etc. So I’d be commenting blind.

I should at least get a poll up on the site asking for people’s favourites, though – good idea.
