Thank you for the review. Last night’s show was spectacular. I really wish the show had started earlier so Bruce had more time. Stupid curfew.

There was a request pile – at least myself and 2 others near me put requests up – but they got picked up quickly.

They did a pretty fast turnaround between bands, and the requests did get picked up pretty quick.

The variations at the beginning of Way It Is were Schoenberg

Definitely the highest-energy show I’ve ever seen him do. He came out and apologized for the strict curfew- in his banter with the band and the Railroad Earth guys, it seems like he was really trying to squeeze in two. They must stop the bands at 10:55 for the 11:00 curfew.

Tough one JF1…..I’ll look through the shows I have……, I remember a show where Bruce mentions the back story for the song…..need to dig that up too…

I also remember THAT I heard the backstory one time, but can’t remember it either. Something about seeing old acquaintances from high school and not being too impressed, maybe?

It really is a tough one. But perhaps one that should be played with the band more often- the harmonics and playfulness at the end after everything cuts out are pretty cool.

It was nice to see some grit and attitude from Bruce there. Usually I feel like it’s spun as “aw shucks, oh well.”

“The story of my life for many years now is ‘I had no idea,’ ” Hornsby said. “You know, like ‘He does that? I had no idea.’ ”

I’ve seen BB before, but the wife hadn’t. It was really heartbreaking to skip, but it was a tough sell since I’ve Bruce so recently. Talk about being conflicted! Hearing BB talk was better than anything else. Buddy Guy still has a bit more bite, he’s here tomorrow night, not sure if we’ll go or not. I think he’s a better entertainer, but he’s only in his 70’s…

The last minute Boulder show in June was so good I’m still reeling from it, though. It’s going to have to do for now. Hoping Bruce stays touring for a while now that the sons are off to college.

It was actually pretty full. For a week’s notice, it was a great showing. Balcony was closed but lower level was probably 80%. Great venue, and honestly, it was probably the best of the 11 shows I’ve seen. They were tight all night, the sound (in playing and in quality) was about as good as it could have been.

I can’t remember anymore. But the new Mandolin Rain into The Grand Tour (by George Jones) and back makes an already sad song become harrowing. It was so beautiful it hurt. Other than that, it was a lot of excuses for turning down requests (I don’t remember the words cause I’m old; usually play that solo). Hopefully they’re all tuned up now that the tour is in swing.

Tongue In Cheek with Steve Kimock may be your best performance with Bruce I’ve ever heard.

Bruce uses a synthesizer on top of the piano as well as whats called a “Piano Bar” that goes over the ends of the keys of the piano to know what notes are being played to add strings and stuf over top, the patch is controlled by that knob he plays with a lot and he volume is controled by a foot pedal.

I went to see if I could get a picture with Bruce tonight when he played at Scott Rolen’s charity gala at my country club, and got so much more! He ended up inviting me up to the green room and I hung out with him and Wayne, his producer. They’re both really cool guys as everyone here knows. I ended up meeting Scott Rolen, and when we went down when it was time for Bruce to play, his agent invited me and my parents in to see. It was $2500 a pop, so we saw a concert that should have been $7500 for free!

12/8/06- The Bridgewater Club (Scott Rolen Charity Gala), Carmel, Indiana
Spider Fingers>Jingle Bells, The Way It Is, The Dreaded Spoon, Talk of the Town, End of the Innocence>Song A>Mandolin Rain, Hooray for Tom>Hooray for Tony [LaRussa], Gonna Be Some Changes Made, The Valley Road, Standing on the Moon>Christmas Song. Encore: Rainbow’s/Rolen’s Cadillac. *Solo Show
