I also had the same problem, but everything’s OK now! When I couldn’t get in to the Updates section, I thought I’d done something wrong. Had I been given a tap by the “banning stick?” 😆

Sounds like there’s lots of interesting things in store for 2009.

Thanks Si, for all you do for the Bruce Hornsby fans. And thanks for bringing back the Daily Dose!

I think the conventional wisdom among that crowd is that Chicago will never get its’ due as long as Jann Wenner is involved with the Hall, since he hasn’t liked them from the start. The same goes for other “progressive” bands like Jethro Tull and Yes and King Crimson and such.

Veering off the topic just a bit-I have a question. Does Jann Wenner have any specific reasons for not liking ‘progressive” bands or does he only profess a general dislike for them?

    Jim,

Love your answer in the “Other Artist” category! I think many of us on this board could give that same reply. :)

    Enjoy the Jan. 24th show!

    Hey guys!

My brother who lives in Hong Kong was in Mumbai during the terrorist attack. Long, long story, but he made it out OK. I’ve “checked out” for the moment, but will “soon come”.

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! We all have a lot to be thankful for! :D We all have Pastures of Plenty! :D

Glad to hear the good news,David. All I can add to your last sentence-with complete seriousness- is: “Amen!” (A quote frequently spoken in the southern part of the USA :) )

As I said,I submitted my original answers early in the morning (not my peak time :) ) and since I didn’t write them down,I’m relying on my memory.

I believe I wrote: There you will find The Tango King, the Stander On The Mountain and the King Of The Hill.

Rich needs to give this a whirl;I know he could get the answer with no trouble at all!

What’s interesting, I “checked in” early this morning and then this evening and noticed that Jackie had changed one of her answers. 😆

Here is a hint…..One of you has filled in one of the blanks correctly! 8) But, was it before or after Jackie made her change? 😆

You caught me! I submitted my first answers early this morning and changed one of my original guesses while I was at work to Stacked Mary Possum.

I thought it sounded better and I know David has a special fondness for that song. :) My second defense of/excuse for my behavior: the female prerogative to change my mind. 😆

I have no idea which of our answers is/was correct, but it sure has been fun playing!

If we are going with who could be at the Fun House. I came up with two answers that could work.

There you will find “_Charlie__”, “Woody” and “You” at the “Funhouse”!

    And also

There you will find the “trapeze artist“, “lonely tightrope walker” and “accomplished virtuoso” at the “Funhouse”!

Thought I’d give it a shot…my creativity isn’t always running well, but I tried.

Here are the answers that crossed my mind: There you will find The Tango King, Stacked Mary Possum and the King Of The Hill.

I like Monica’s answers much better!

OK,now I see where you’re going with this! 💡 Bruce could bail out the Lost Soul who travelled Across The River and got Stranded On Easy Street.

Commercial radio. :? Bruce could bail this institution out by showing them the meaning of creativity!

“The Tide” could be the model he uses to show other radio stations one way to showcase musicians. :D

    How’s this for another answer?

It would be a “Camp Meeting” with “Charlie, Woody and You” and we would finally get some “Questions and Answers” from “Chelia” as we did the “Un Poco Loco/Chant Song” and my date, of course, would be “Stacked Mary Possum”. 😆

Now that deserves some “big time” extra credit! 😆
(I think that’s called “brown nosing”!)

I wouldn’t call it “brown nosing.” And that answer deserves a better description than simply extra credit. I would say it’s the brilliant thesis of your dissertation in the pursuit of your Masters degree in “Bruuuce-ology.” (With a minor in Modern Jazz, of course!) :D

    Well done!

a long, strange trip down the road not taken.

We have another winner! And there are still other answers that would fit,so keep submitting your thoughts!

Leon or Bonnie would make a great VP. I think either of them would have no trouble relating their opinion on the present state of the union.

I already voted! Thanks for the reminder and the admonition, Victor. I’m no conspiracy theorist, but there has been so much negative politics this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if past “shenanigans” appeared again.

Small case in point: I wore my non-partisan “I voted early” sticker to work on the day I cast my ballot. I was asked to take it off. I believe the person who asked me to do this didn’t want other people in my workplace to realize early voting had begun. I think this person didn’t want others to take advantage of this fairly new means of voting. Am I being over-sensitive? Has anyone else experienced negative or strange behavior like this during an election?

Oh yeah,I forgot about “Silver Thunderbird”! It contains my favorite example of Marc Cohn’s piano skills.

I heard a radio show a couple of days ago where James Taylor sang “Wichita Lineman.” When he sang: And I need you more than want you/And I want you for all time.-it really emphasized the complex nature of the relationship in the song.

This new release is definitely going on my wish list.

I haven’t heard a lot of Marc Coh’s music, but what I’ve heard,I’ve liked. When his latest album was released, several negative reviews were written by music “experts”-I didn’t agree with them.

“Listening To Levon” and “Living Out The String” are two memorable new songs of Mr. Cohn’s I’ve had the pleasure of hearing.

My favorite lines from his hit “Walking In Memphis”:

    Now Muriel plays piano
    Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would —
    Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
    And she said —
“Tell me are you a Christian child?”
    And I said “Ma’am I am tonight”
