ParticipantMary,
The “Collecting Money….” Fund is building up nicely;I’ll definitely have enough by Jan.21. 😆
I think you have the same “arrangement” (to borrow a phrase from our friend David) with bbq that I have with brussels sprouts…
Happy Thanksgiving!

ParticipantMary,
I’ve signed up to work extra hours between now & January 21 to be sure I can contribute to the “Collecting Money For A (Some) Friend(s) In Need” fund. I’ll make sure to have enough “squirreled away” to make a nice donation.
. Speaking of squirrel, did you ever get a chance to sample any Southern barbecue last year? If not, we’ll have to remedy that…
MVF,
Congratulations on your new job! Hopefully, this is a stepping stone to bigger and better things. We all would love to see you Friday and/or Saturday night in Norfolk.Monica,
As our friend David says, “I’m fired up!”. I can’t wait ’till January 21!Jackie

ParticipantJC,
Thanks for posting that “rarity.”. I recall hearing that verse on one of Si’s daily doses. It describes perfectly the “Morning Zoo” type commercial radio show here in the US.

Don’t worry about us. Just take care of yourself-that’s the most important thing.

ParticipantMary,
You’re right; you DID raise me better! It’s those blasted planets and stars fault. They weren’t lined up right when I made my travel plans…
I hate it that I’ll miss seeing you all.
I’m looking into staying over on Saturday, so maybe I can make that meet-up.
Mary,Kat, & the rest of y’all will have the job of preparing (warning?) Norfolk for (about) the “second wave” of Bruce fans. If anyone is up to this task, I know you are,Mary!

ParticipantI can’t wait until Jan. 21! Hearing Bruce sing “Soon Enough” during one of the recent shows posted for downloading has whet my appetite to hear and see the rest of the musical…

ParticipantMary,
It’s a full time job keeping the guys on The Board in line, isn’t it? lolVictor,
Don’t feel bad. I myself have written “dumb” stuff on this forum. You’re not alone.
.
You definitely should check out that album;there are some great versions of old songs & a couple of new ones worth a listen. If you are an Amazon shopper, you can get an MP3 version of “Nobody There But Me” from their version of the record.
And remember-We wouldn’t tease you so much if we didn’t love you!

ParticipantVictor wrote:By the way, this is my first time hearing “20/20 Vision.” I’m loving the creative places the musical is taking Bruce. This IS from the musical, right? It sounds as if it could be an old-time classic bluegrass balad. It’s so fun to hear Bruce sing a new song that I’ve never heard, especially when he’s testing them out live for the first time.
Victor,
I guess I get to do the correcting this time….Bruce can be heard singing a spectacular version of “20/20 Vision” on the Charlie Haden Family & Friends album entitled “Rambling Boy.” I believe this record was released in 2008. It’s just Bruce and an acoustic bass, but this rendition took my breath away the first time I heard it. He puts lots of emotion into the song and uniquely “stretches” his vocal style.
The snippet Bruce sang at the Boulder show gives just a hint of the full version.
I believe you’re right about the song being classic bluegrass. After hearing Bruce’s version, I found it on iTunes by Jimmy Martin. It definitely has that classic bluegrass sound.
I hope this information is helpful.

ParticipantHey,I happen to have copies of those aforementioned pictures! How much money are we talking,Mary? lol
It looks like a good time was had by all…
On a more serious note-thanks Jeff, for letting us know about the download. I think it provided many of us with a much needed live Bruce music fix.

I’m not sure if I need a facelift,but I could probably use a “makeover.” 😆
The Board has an interesting new look…

ParticipantSi,
Add my vote for the longer podcast to the list. I really enjoy the expanded format. It allows room enough to “dig deep” into the chosen topic(s) and of course, provides time for more music, too.
Thanks for sharing your many talents with us.

Mary, which outfit were you wearing when David’s camera “broke”-the bunny suit or the bikini?
Inquiring minds need to know…

ParticipantT,
Thanks for the list of pop improv’ers-I’ll re-visit the ones I know & get accquainted with those who I’ve neglected.
I love your description of Bruce in pop history. I worry that people will say,”Bruce who?” in the future. Guess that’s my pessimistic streak showing.
