ParticipantWelcome!
Unfortunately,I’m not aware of a stream…
I would suggest either getting some of Bruce’s recent shows from the torrent sites, look under the topic “the recordings are coming along great,” or listening to/downloading the daily doses on the Bruuuce.com home page.
Keep stopping by the board-if there is a stream out there,I’m sure someone will let you know. Have a great time Monday night!

ParticipantHooray! This movie isn’t like Shakes The Clown, that’s good news. But,is it like Sleeping Dogs Lie,one of Bobcat’s later films? That one was really over the top…Either way,I can’t wait to see it!

ParticipantJennie,
You know encouraging me will only subject you to more of my attempts at “humor.”
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. (And to everyone on The Board)

We all know how susceptible he is to new ideas and having thoughts put in his head. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t already reached for the peroxide bottle and gone platinum.
Bruce is gonna think ‘Dreadlock Dave’s’ grandad has turned up! 😮They’re both so great, can there be 2 “posts of the year”?

ParticipantGood news!
The “roots” of a CD tree have been planted successfully! (no thanks to a major glitch on my part). Kat acted as “tree surgeon” generously corrected my error-now I’m ready to start the branches. Thanks,Kat!
Concerts available:
09/26/09 Town Hall
09/27/09 Berklee
10/02/09 Bridgeport
10/03/09 Richmond
Please send me a PM if you would like to participate in the CD tree.

ParticipantThat’s a good point about the songwriter and the narrator being two different people. I tend to forget songs can be written in different voices, especially if thy’re written in the first person. Thanks for “setting me straight.”
I like the card game imagery,too-very evocative.

ParticipantThis is off the top of my head, please forgive the amateurish writing: Rumor has it that some fans of the Levitate record are becoming detectives in their spare time. They have taken it upon themselves to solve the crime described in Paperboy…

ParticipantVictor wrote:Back to the original question regarding “Cyclone,” my favorite song on the record and one of my all-time faves, I do think it’s about a “mid-life crisis” — looking back and wondering about the loss of youthful power — but it also seems to be questioning decisions made about love and whether one should choose a roguish, solitary life or the “family life.”Does anyone else see that message in the song?
I see that message, too. The writer seems to answer the question in the last verse:
“You know if it wasn’t for love
I might just be a wandering man
But I believe I’ve made the better choice
To sing about it with this band”Do you think that’s the songwriter’s answer?

Participantrdiakun wrote:I believe that Bruce one said he would never do a Beatles tune, something about it being some sort of sacred pop canon, other than his rendition of Imagine (which wasn’t really a Beatles tune, because it came loooong after they parted ways). And yet, there is Norwegian Wood thrown in.Another example of Bruce playing the Beatles is also one of my favorite Daily Doses. It’s labeled “082304prudence.” A great “winging it” version of Dear Prudence in the middle of (I think) See The Same Way.

Participantrdiakun wrote:Yeah, Paperboy has that Beatlish sound to it, in the sound they used in the “psychedelic” era (between Revolver and The White Album) sound, replete with the heavy use of dominant 7th chords.Topic #1: Does anyone else see parallels between the lyrics of Paperboy and The Beatles Happiness Is A
Warm Gun? (Especially in the Beatles verse which begins with:
“The man in the crowd with the multicolored mirrors…”)?
Topic #2: Impressions of the album so far- Invisible is my favorite song at the moment, followed closely by Cyclone and Prairie Dog Town.
When listening to Continents Drift, I’m overcome with bittersweet feelings; I’m sure the “bitter’ will soon disappear & that will make the “sweet” even better.
Michael Raphael & Simple Prayer-Although I realize Bruce wrote these with a light, tongue in cheek tone, I’ve found some food for thought here.

Pardon me,my ignorance is showing.
Would someone please explain what a b&p cd tree is? I don’t torrent either, but would dearly love to have the shows…

ParticipantThe setlist contains at least one song from each of Bruce’s “pop/rock” studio albums. They were also played in chronological order by release date.
That is SO cool!
There are a couple more “coincidences” in the setlist I haven’t named.
Great eye,Si!

ParticipantI have to admit,I caved in & bought the album on iTunes so I could get this track. Although I’m not crazy about the marketing strategy, I really like the song!
It’s an up tempo folk/bluegrass type song with Bruce singing to piano & dulcimer accompaniment. The words are very sad and Bruce gives a heartfelt performance.
Hope this helps.

But wait! Are prairie dogs and teddy bears compatible? A stuffed animal fight could be really messy…

ParticipantThe “secret” is out!
MVF,
I’ve been debating all day whether to divulge the names. Thankfully,Kat solved the dilema.
Mary,
I enjoy reading Bruce’s comments, too! I agree with your comment about the photos, they’re great!

ParticipantWhile listening to the CD,I’m perusing the CD booklet and read something interesting. The page that featurs individual pictures of the members of the band also features 2 names familiar to the Board!
