Si, I’ll give it a try in Memphis this weekend!

    TN/GA shows

That’s right, David, and we’ve got the Beale Street festival in Memphis on May 6 and another Memphis-area show in Bartlett, Tenn., right after the Chastain Park show and the Biltmore in August.

This could be the Summer of Bruce for Tennesseans who want to make a quick road trip. Even though Memphis is a 6-hour drive for those of us in East Tennessee, I’ll be there.

Anybody else planning on being in Memphis in a couple of weeks?

EDIT — Wow! I just noticed the Knoxville date on Aug. 15. Bruce is really showing the Volunteer State some love this year! Now we need to turn out en masse.

Bruce appeared on a number of tv shows in Fall 2004 including Leno, Cold Pizza (ESPN), Conan, McEnroe, and The View. I believe he played Changes Made on each appearance. The problem with SNL is that they like “current” musicians. In terms of Letterman, I believe Bruce was a bit soured since they wanted him to sit in with the band versus perform and talk.

I was just looking at imdb.com and decided to dredge this old thread up — be the “squeeky wheel.”

IMDB doesn’t list many of those 2004 appearances, and I must admit Conan’s the only one of those five shows I watch regularly (but I missed even that appearance—shame on ME).

Now, with the “Intersections” box set coming out, I’d love to see Bruce hit Letterman (I don’t think Letterman makes people sit-in with the band anymore; however, when he asks people to, I think it’s a compliment to that person’s ability more than anything else). Or, I’d like to see him on Conan again. Maybe Bruce should visit Jimmy Kimmel when he makes his West Coast swing.

SNL may like “current” acts, but they’d do well to have Bruce any time. Bruce was on Leno Nov. 2004; according to IMDB, he hasn’t been on Letterman since 1998, and he did SNL in ’92.

If Bruce’s manager does set-up some TV appearance(s), Bruce should perform a solo piece from Intersections and/or a seldom-heard “show tune” or collaboration.

    Boxed Set

    Holy crap! 😯

“Intersections” — I love the title. Disc 2 alone should be worth the price of admission.

I have only two regrets: (1) it should be released a week earlier so I can have it by my birthday, and (2) I was hoping Bruce would include the solo “River Runs Low” he played at my request last year in Chattanooga.

Therefore, I DEMAND that Chattanooga, 8/19/05, (or even the Notre Dame solo show) be put up for download immediately!!! 😈

    Bela

Bruce contributed to about three of Bela’s records in the 80s, and Bela was featured on Bruce’s third, A Night on the Town.

I think those are the main collaborations.

    TV

That would be a cool DVD, Guinness.

While I prefer Letterman, I think Leno’s crew does a better job with sound and in their presentation of musical acts. But SNL would be the best place for Bruce, IMHO (even though the cast is mediocre). I think that’s the only place these days that generally lets acts do two numbers. I agree that’s what Bruce would need to do — a ballad like “Dreamland,” followed by something funky like “Mirror” — to gie an idea of his full repertoire.

I fully support Bruce continuing to do music his way, and I realize that doesn’t always play to the lowest-common-denominator audience — which is fine; I just want as many people as possible to hear Bruce right now, he’s so on top of his game. I think Halcyon Days needs to be heard fully before Bruce’s next album comes out.
