About the venue
The Flynn Theater, located in Burlington, Vermont, opened on November 26, 1930, as New England’s first movie theater. Designed by Mowll and Rand, it showcased Art Deco architecture, reflecting the grandeur of early cinemas. In the late 1970s, the Lyric Theater Company recognized the need for a performance space and formed the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts (FCPA) in 1980. After purchasing the theater in 1981, the FCPA undertook a major restoration, overcoming challenges like a devastating flood. The restored Flynn now stands as a cultural hub and architectural gem.
