Bruce Hornsby in Durham, NC gave a rowdy crowd some rare treats (and a first) this past Thursday at the Carolina Theatre.
Bobby Hornsby joined on stage without actually knowing what they’d be playing, other than “It’s in G”. Along came the first ever performance of the Grateful Dead’s Cumberland Blues.
We also got Face to Face, from the SCKBSTD musical – previously only played once at a Bruce and Sonny duo show. As noted, J.T. had never heard it.
We also heard an echo of David Day in Tango King. Had David still been with us, he’d surely have been in Durham and bellowing a request for his favourite song.
